Nicholas's POV

Morning arrived with a soft light filtering through the curtains of the room. The air was still cool, but the warmth from Sabrina beside me made me reluctant to move too quickly. I slowly opened my eyes, gazing at her peaceful sleeping face. Her hair spilled over the pillow, partially covering her features.

Seeing her like this brought a sense of calm that was hard to explain. All the chaos and tension from yesterday seemed to fade away for a moment. I could feel my heartbeat slowing, and my thoughts began to organize. Sabrina was my refuge, and when I was with her, the world felt simpler.

I tried not to disturb her sleep, but my curiosity made me want to touch her. Gently, I brushed her hair from her face and kissed her forehead. She stirred a little but didn’t wake up. Her soft smile while sleeping made me want to protect her from anything that could disrupt this peace.

However, the awareness of the responsibilities waiting outside th

Hazel's POVAs I gazed at the sky outside the window, I tried to dig for strength within myself. Maybe I can’t change the past, but I can fight for the future. Every passing second is an opportunity to prove that a mother’s love is the most valuable thing.I want to see Charlie. To explain. To hug him. To apologize. But I know if I show up now without permission, without a valid moment, Sabrina will see me as a violation. I could lose everything before I even try. This longing torments me. Every second that passes without seeing his face, hearing his voice, drags me deeper into despair. I imagine what it would be like to see him again, how his smile would warm my frozen heart. Yet, all of that feels like an unreachable dream.Sabrina will surely see my arrival as a threat. She will protect Charlie like a lioness guarding her cub. And I, who only want to do good, might be seen as an intruder. The fear of losing him gnaws at my thoughts.I know

Hazel's POVI stared at the small robot on my desk. It sat still, with a pink indicator light occasionally blinking, indicating it was in "sleep" mode, ready to be activated at any time. I bought it a few days ago, right after learning that Charlie liked robot toys. I imagined him chuckling as he watched it walk or say funny phrases, picturing his small hands pressing its buttons, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.Every time I looked at the robot, my heart fluttered. This was not just a toy; it was a symbol of my hope to reconnect with Charlie. I wanted to create little moments we could share, even though everything felt complicated right now.I felt trapped between guilt and hope. Remembering the times when Charlie was scared of me added to my distress. Yet, I knew I had to try. This robot could be a bridge. A way to show him that I wanted to be involved in his life, that I was trying to be a better mother.I moved my hand to turn on the robot s

Nicholas's POV I smiled. “That’s right.”He hugged me quickly but tightly. Then he stepped back two paces, standing tall like a little soldier ready to face the world.“Daddy, work hard and be careful, okay?”I nodded. “You too. Be a good boy, okay?”He turned toward the gate, then back to me and waved. “Goodbye, Daddy!”“Goodbye, General Charlie!” I replied, raising my hand high.I stood still for a moment, watching his small back blend into the crowd of other children. And for some reason, there was something swelling in my throat. Not sadness, but a deep sense of gratitude. This child, this little one with a frail body but a spirit that always shone, was the reason I had to be strong. Why I couldn’t give up.***The smell of oil, rust, and dust greeted me as I stepped onto the grounds of the old workshop. Amidst the skeletal frames of cars that were nearly junk, I saw a familiar figure bent over the hood

Nicholas's POV “I’ll drive at the speed of a model father,” I replied, returning her wave. The car slowly rolled out of the garage, and in the rearview mirror, I saw Sabrina still standing on the porch, watching us leave. Her face was calm, but I knew there were many things she wanted to ask.As the car entered the main road, Charlie began sharing his plans for school.“Daddy, today I’m going to present my fort drawing!” he exclaimed excitedly.“Oh, that’s cool! What do you want to say about the fort?” I asked while adjusting the mirror.“Hmm, I’ll say it’s the place where the hero protects the village from monsters!” he replied confidently.“Great! Who’s that hero?” I asked, intrigued by his imagination.“My hero! And I can be a hero at school too!” he answered, bouncing in the back seat.We laughed. “So, who’s your friend who likes to eat other people’s lunches?” I asked, wanting to know more.

Nicholas's POV We didn’t talk much as I changed clothes and sat at the dining table. Sabrina served dinner with her usual calm movements, but I knew she was watching me more than usual. Occasionally, I caught her gaze lingering on my face, as if searching for a crack to ask, What’s wrong? But she didn’t ask. And I didn’t explain.Because if I started talking now, I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop. And I wasn’t ready to bring that storm into this house. Not tonight. After dinner, I took my plate to the sink and walked to the living room. Charlie was already sitting cross-legged with a sheet full of doodles. On it was a drawing of a rectangular fort that looked like a pile of large boxes.“This is the door, this is the secret room, and this is the cannon room to shoot at the enemies,” he said, pointing to parts of the drawing.I chuckled. “Wow, this fort looks serious. Who are the enemies?”Charlie raised an eyebrow. “Anyone w
