A Shift of Focus

It was raining hard when Sakshi arrived home, and the short distance between the garage and the main building had caused the rainwater to run down her body.

She tried to be cheerful as she came in. Kapil stood by the door, a sly smile on his face. She hugged him and moved inside. A maid followed behind with her bag.

"How did it go?" Kapil asked after she greeted her parents and got a water bottle from which to drink.

"It was stressful but worth it." She forced a smile. "I need to rest, and I'll be out soon."

She had a long shower, during which she reminisced about her journey. She cherished every moment of it, and she yearned for another opportunity of that sort. As she lay in bed trying to get some sleep, she rolled her eyes as she felt pressure on the bed. Kapil had joined her.
