I spent the rest of the week avoiding my housemate. I don't know what these feelings I keep having when he's around, but I know they're dangerous.
“You are coming to the party.”
“Huh?" I looked up from my lunch and was greeted by Charlotte rolling her eyes at me.
"What's up with you? You know I let it slide for the past days, but I know you've been distracted. Is everything okay?" Her annoyance changed into worry in the blink of an eye. If I can't be honest with my best friend, then who can I be honest with.
"Just please promise that this stays between us."
"Of course. So what is it?"
"So, you know I moved out right. My... uhm... neighbor is a guy. And we had a couple of interactions for the past month." I started. I guess I made the right call by not saying that we live under the same roof, 'cause by the look on her face... She's already cooking a story.
"Is he hot?"
"Seriously?"
"It's just a yes or no, Psyche."
"Fine, yes. You can describe him as hot. That aside, we barely even talked to each other until recently, and now, I can't take my mind off of him. But you know, it's just a new face crush, right? I mean I have Seb..." She started shaking her head while biting her bottom lip as she smiled curiously at me.
"Have you imagined kissing him? Or even doing wild things with him?"
My mind drifted off to the times these couple of weeks that his topless body kept lingering in my mind. The way I wanted to lean in when we were inches from each other.
"Well, that face means yes. I can't believe this! You! Psyche Johana Montez is crushing on your neighbor!" I panicked with the sudden loudness of her voice.
"Char! Can you please be quiet!?"
"Sorry, Psyche. I'm just really excited for you! I mean, finally! You're looking for someone better than Sebastian!"
"I'm not looking for anyone else, it's just a harmless crush. It's not like I'm gonna act on it."
"Oh come on! He might be your one true love, and you're missing the chance because of Sebastian." You can hear the disgust in her voice whenever she mentions Sebastian's name.
"Besides, me and Seb actually have a date tonight. So, I'm gonna get rid of this crush thing once and for all."
"Aww. I was gonna ask you to come with me to a party tonight!" She pouted at me, but his expression quickly changed, and I felt a presence behind me.
"Baby! I was looking for you everywhere. Sorry, can I take a rain check on our date tonight? I still have lots to do for the university festival, and we're way behind the deadlines."
"But, we've been planning this date for weeks now."
"I know, baby. I'm really sorry. I have to go, okay. I'll message you later." And before I could say another word, Sebastian was already off running somewhere his presence was needed.
"Change of plans?"
I don’t have a choice, do I?”
“Nope.”
And she proceeded to eat her lunch while looking at me curiously.
“I have nothing to wear, Char. You know I didn’t bring all of my things when I left the house.”
“And that is why you have a best friend like me, Psyche." She grinned from ear to ear. Oh gosh! What have I gotten myself into?
"You want me to wear this?" I asked Charlotte as she handed me a skimpy backless red dress that is only held by a chain around the neck. We went straight to her apartment as soon as we were both done with our classes, and I'm kinda regretting my decisions now.
"Come on! You'll look amazing in that. Please, just trust me on this." I rolled my eyes at her and just changed into the handkerchief that she gave me.
The party was already in full swing when we got there. Obviously, Charlotte wanted to be fashionably late.
"Who do we have here? I didn't know you had a friend as beautiful as this lady." A familiar-looking guy approached us.
"Back off, Smith. She's off limits to jerks." I just smiled at him and followed my best friend as she cut through the crowd.
"It's our song!" Charlotte was already screaming at me despite being inches from each other, as our favorite song from when we were twelve started playing. She immediately grabbed my hand and dragged me to the middle of the dance floor, and with the atmosphere and a little booze in my system, I started dancing the night away.
"I'm just gonna get some water." I whispered- shouted at her, before leaving the dance floor and heading towards the bar.
"A bottle of water, please."
"First time here?" The bartender asked with a smile as he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge behind him.
"Is it that obvious?" I said, grabbing the bottle from the counter and handing him my card.
"Well, patrons usually get more alcohol to quench their thirsts." We both shared a laugh before I turned to walk back to our booth. I walked passed a private room, and I couldn't help but notice that the door was cracked open a bit. I didn't really intend for it to happen, but I caught a glimpse of what was inside.
A man was facing the door, standing at the edge of a table, thrusting back and forth into a woman with her legs spread wide while she was lying on the table. I could barely hear the moans and groans from all the noise inside the club, but there was something familiar about the voice. I stood there looking at them, and when the man raised his head, my heart just stopped.
"Sebastian...?"
"You good?" I asked Psyche as we were cruising along the highway on the way home. I felt her nod, but I also felt her shallow breaths and heard her sniffles in the midst of the silent road that we're taking. And then an idea popped into my head, and so I sped up. "This is not the way to the house. Where are you taking me, Eros?" She asked, confused, and still stifling her sobs."You'll see." I said to her, and she just nodded and lay her head on my back as we rode up the mountainside. "We're here." I said, taking my helmet off, and she immediately went down the bike. "Wow." Her voice was in awe, and I couldn't help but smile a little as she stood there, helmet in hand, facing the side of the mountain that was overlooking the whole city and the beach. "It's beautiful.""Yeah. Beautiful." The words just slipped out of my mouth as I stared at her figure, taking in the view. She turned to look at me with a now-genuine smile plastered across her tear-stained face. "Secret hiding spot?"
"Thanks for the ride." She forced a smile on her face as she took off the helmet. "I guess now I know why you like riding this thing so much.""What do you mean?" I asked curiously at her as I put my things away."The way you can swerve through the roads. The air brushing through your skin." She paused for a second and smiled genuinely this time, looking at the helmet she had just taken off. "I don't know, but I felt free. Thanks again." And before I could say another word, she had already placed the helmet on my motorbike and was already walking inside our house. The next few days after that night were strangely unremarkable. Psyche has been quiet lately, clearly, she hasn't been herself. She's always inside her room when she's at home, and she would do anything to just avoid anyone while in school. "Charlotte. Where's Hana? I've been trying to contact her, but she's not answering any of my messages or calls." I heard Sebastian's voice echo through the cafeteria as he stood in fron
I noticed her as soon as she stepped into that club. I'm not sure whether to thank or be angry at her best friend for letting her wear that sinful red dress. She has been avoiding me since that night, and honestly, I can't blame her. I don't know exactly what I'm feeling towards her, but one thing is clear: I want her. That night, I almost wanted to unwrap her and mark her right there in the kitchen. And that feeling intensified when I found out that Sebastian was her boyfriend."Earth to Mav.""What?" My focus went back to the idiots in front of me, and all of them have girls wrapped around their bodies, except one, my best friend, Terrence. "You've been out of it since earlier tonight. You, the great Maverick Tanner, have been giving the cold shoulder to all the girls who approached you tonight.""Are we turning a new leaf?""Or maybe you already have eyes on your prey tonight?""Shut up, Rence. I'm just not in the mood tonight.""Ohh. I see." I looked back at him and saw that he

“So, you're friends with Charlotte Gray, and dating Sebastian Fabian?"I was leaning on the kitchen counter as I ate my apple, scrolling through social media as Eros walked into the kitchen with his duffle bag still hanging on his shoulder.“Thanks for taking the hint and not saying anything about our set-up.” I said, taking another bite before looking at him. His hair was wet and tousled, perfectly framing his chiseled face, and the feeling from earlier in the parking lot resurfaced again. He dropped his bag on the counter and made his way towards the fridge."I'm guessing both of them don't know where you're staying?" He said. He took out the orange juice and drank straight from the pitcher. "Nope. And I want it to stay that way.""Why?" I was hoping he would just shrug off what happened today, but I was out of luck. "Well, I love Char, but I don't want her to have any ideas, and Sebastian, obviously, he wouldn't agree with me living with a guy.""Then why don't you live with him
“Tanner!” I almost choked on my own saliva as Charlotte yelled in the middle of the cafeteria. And just like that, all eyes gravitated to us. And that was the last thing I wanted. While both Sebastian and Charlotte love the limelight, I was never comfortable with the attention.“Grey? How can I help you?” Of course, he knows her. Why am I even surprised? My eyes met his and a playful smirk appeared on his lips at the sight of me squirming behind my best friend. And I almost forgot that this jerk also loves being the center of attention, especially when it comes to girls. I couldn't stop my eyes from rolling at him and just averted my gaze.“Just one thing.”And silence filled the whole cafeteria as Charlotte’s palm smacked the smile out of Eros’ face. Everyone was staring at them. Students, staff, and even professors stopped everything they were doing and watched like it was a new show on a streaming app. “That’s for my friend. And this one is for all the other girls you have messed
“Can’t believe that hunk of junk still works.” I heard Sebastian say as soon as I got out of the car. “Stop calling it that, Seb. It might really die on me and I can’t afford to buy a new car right now.” “You could always ask your dad to buy you a new one, babe. I know you have your issues with your stepmom, but can't you just let it pass? Don't get me wrong, babe. All I'm saying is that you're in your second year of college, we have lots of things to worry about, so maybe you should lessen your burdens by making up with your dad?” I can't help but roll my eyes at my boyfriend as we both made our way out of the parking lot.“You know what I'm going to say, Seb. We've been over this. And besides, I can get by. I still have my trust fund. And stop calling her my stepmom. Scarlet is nothing more but a manipulative oppurtunist who took the chance to woo a man still grieving the lost of his wife."“But still…” I already knew where this conversation is going so I cut him off.“I don’t wan
Is one quiet night really too much to ask? I clasped my hands on my ears as the sounds of moans and groans from the other room was piercing through the walls of my bedroom. This is what I get for agreeing to living in the same house with one of the biggest players in campus, just so I could pay cheap rent.I laid down in bed, defeated. I couldn't even get through one sentence with all of the commotion from the other room. What the heck is he even doing to these women to make them scream all night? Is he really that good in bed? I heard the front door closed, so I took it as a signal that whoever was screaming the whole night was out of the house. I went out of my room, humming to a tune that has been stuck in my mind since this morning, and went straight to the kitchen. "Late night?" I jumped up in shock as a deep manly voice greeted me when I entered the kitchen. He stood there smiling at me, leaning on the kitchen counter, a tall glass in hand, only wearing his boxers that didn
