LOGIN“Can’t believe that hunk of junk still works.” I heard Sebastian say as soon as I got out of the car.
“Stop calling it that, Seb. It might really die on me and I can’t afford to buy a new car right now.”
“You could always ask your dad to buy you a new one, babe. I know you have your issues with your stepmom, but can't you just let it pass? Don't get me wrong, babe. All I'm saying is that you're in your second year of college, we have lots of things to worry about, so maybe you should lessen your burdens by making up with your dad?” I can't help but roll my eyes at my boyfriend as we both made our way out of the parking lot.
“You know what I'm going to say, Seb. We've been over this. And besides, I can get by. I still have my trust fund. And stop calling her my stepmom. Scarlet is nothing more but a manipulative oppurtunist who took the chance to woo a man still grieving the lost of his wife."
“But still…” I already knew where this conversation is going so I cut him off.
“I don’t want to hear any more regarding this, Sebastian. I need to go, we have finals, remember.”
I know he cares for me, but sometimes, I can't help but feel that he favors my dad more than me, his own girlfriend. That's one of the reasons that I'm keeping my living arrangements from him. If he knows, then it already a matter of time before my dad knew and I still don't want to talk to him.
“So, when will I be invited to your new flat? It's been months since you moved out.”
“Uhm, never? I would like to have my own space, Char.”
“When have I invaded your space, Psyche Johana Montez?”
“Uhm… Like every time?”
We giggled together as we had our lunch, but then a thought popped up in my mind.
“Do you think I should just go home to my dad?”
Charlotte is the only other person aside from Sebastian who knows my family, her mom is my mom’s best friend but I only met her when we were twelve after their family moved back to the country and naturally, we became best of friends.
“Heck no! Don’t tell me that Sebastian asked you that again?”
And I just nodded at her. She rolled her eyes and scoffed at me before putting down her fork and I knew I was in for a long nagging.
“Acting all goody-to-shoes in front of your dad then going on full step-monster on you when he’s not around, is not okay. And to top it off, she started wearing and using your mom’s things without even asking for permission. And what she did to your mom's room? That’s the ultimate disrespect.”
“So, I’m not overacting about this?”
Her eyes widened at me in disbelief like I grew another head.“No! And you already know what I think about Sebastian. I don’t think I need to repeat myself to you. You deserve so much better, more than the bare minimum he’s giving you. And that’s a hill I’m willing to die on.”
“He's just busy, I guess...”
“I’m just saying. Like is he even good in bed?”
“Charlotte!!!”
“What? We’re not twelve, Psyche. And we both know you’re not as pure as your reputation.”
“He’s the only one I’ve been with, Char. I don’t think I have any credentials to rate how he is in bed.”
“Touche." She said aprrovingly. "But you know who I heard is a monster on bed?”
“You’re still gonna tell me, even if I told you I don’t want to hear it.” And now, it's my time to roll my eyes at her, knowing I'm about to hear another one of her sexual escapades.
“Mav Tanner. Engineering Department. Soccer Team Captain and Striker. 6’2”. Totally ripped and totally sexy.”
I should have known… Can't say I'm surprise that she knows Tanner. I mean they're both populars in the campus, so their paths will eventually cross, but I didn't know that even my best friend was not immune to his charms.
“From what I’ve heard he is a player. And not just in soccer.” I warned her but then she smiled at me. Her devilish smile, that I knew she was about to do some thing really crazy.
“Yeah, I know. I don’t plan on going for him. I might be a party girl but I'm still a hopeless romantic. He kinda played with one of my friends so I just want to get back at him. Oh. And speaking of the devil.”
I followed her gaze and there he was, walking into the cafeteria with a couple more buff dudes, that I recognized as his teammates. Char stood up and she started walking towards them, sending me in panic.
“Charlotte Grey! Where are you going?!”
I whispered scream at her but she just smiled and winked at me and I had no choice but to follow my unhinged best friend towards my equally abnormal housemate.
"Taxi driver? What are you talking about, Psyche?" Eros suddenly asked snapping me out of my thoughts. "The night I came home... crying... I came back from my dad's house." I started.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I was planning on going back to the house that day, when Sebastian decided to inject himself in my life again. He suddenly came to my table with a wide smirk on his face. I've also been ignoring him since I broke up with him and I just can't help but roll my eyes at him."What do you want, Sebastian?" I mumbled as he leaned on our table. "Your dad wants you to come to dinner tonight. And before you shoo me away, he said it has to do with your mom." He then turned his back and statred walking before he turned back to me. "I'll pick you up at Charlotte. 6 PM. See you, sweetheart.""Are you going with him?" Char asked and I nodded at her."If it has something to do with mom, I wouldn't be
"Mav!" I looked around and saw Terrence racing towards me. I was leaning on my car waiting for Psyche so we can go home. "Sebas.... tian... dragging... Hana...." It took a couple of seconds before his words hit me. "Where did he take her?" I asked, shaking my friend violently."Stu...dent... council... office..." He said still trying to catch his breath. I sprinted away from him, anger simmering up my head. Its only been a week since she came back to the house and now Sebastian rearing his ugly head again."What are you doing!" I immediately heard Psyche's voice inside. "You're mine, Hana. We're going to get married. So stop associating yourself to that good for nothing jock!" Sebastian's voice boomed. The door was locked but I had my own way in getting in. I tackled the door and it flew off its hinges. Sebastian was pinning Psyche on the wall as she tried struggling free from his grasp. I saw red! I sprinted towards him and immediately pulled him off of her. "Are you okay?" I imme
"Hey, are you coming home for dinner later?" I asked Psyche as soon as I saw her coming down the stairs. "Uhmm. No. I'm having dinner with Char later. Bye!" She immediately answered before rushing out to her car, while I could only stare and sigh as the door closed behind her. I don't know why, but I could feel that she's been avoiding me for a couple of weeks now. At first, I didn't really notice because I was busy with exams and training, but now I can definitely feel the shift in how she acts around me. I can't help but stare at her as she sits at the corner table of the cafeteria alone."Are you really just gonna stare at her?" Terrence asked as he sat beside me."Shut up." I said as I stood up. "Let's go! We're gonna be late for training." I dragged him out of the cafeteria, and just as we were going out, Sebastian walked past us with a smirk on his face. I followed him with my eyes, and he went straight to Psyche's table. I was about to walk back, but was stopped and dragged
Awkward is an understatement! I could feel Eros and Charlotte trying to psych each other out, but no one dared to say anything, especially Terrence. "I'll get the white wine!" I said before getting up and finally feeling at ease from the tension between the two. "I'll help you!" I heard Terrence say, and soon I felt his presense behind me. "I didn't know it would be this awkward!" He whispered as we took some glasses from the cupboards."What did you expect when you told Char our address?" I whispered back at him emphasizing every word, to let him know that he's not off the hook."She coerced me into telling her. It's not my fault that she's very persuasive." He said, scratching the back of his head as he blushed while staring at nothing. "You like Charlotte?" I asked in an amused hushed tone. My eyes lit up at the opportunity to tease him, and he just blushed even more. "Oh my god! You like her!" I said, almost jumping up and down in excitement."Stop it! She'll hear you!" Terrence
"Here, put some ice on it. It will heal on its own." The school nurse said, handing a cold compress to Eros, but I immediately grabbed it from him. He looked at me, confused as I reached for his face and angled it with his slightly swollen cheek facing me. I started dabbing the cold compress on it as gently as I could. I really felt guilty about what happened to him. He wouldn't be here right now if he hadn't helped me last night. "That looks so painful." I said as I felt him wince under my touch."Nah. I told you, your boyfriend has a weak punch." I scoffed at his arrogance even at a time like this and lightly punched his shoulder."EX-BOYFRIEND!" I corrected him. The idea of me being with Sebastian repulses me so much that I don't want to be associated with him in any way, shape, or form."Clearly, he didn't get the memo. Honestly, what did you see in that guy?" Eros playfully said to me as I finished dabbing his cheek. "I'm asking myself that too, honestly." I said, shaking my h
"You good?" I asked Psyche as we were cruising along the highway on the way home. I felt her nod, but I also felt her shallow breaths and heard her sniffles in the midst of the silent road that we're taking. And then an idea popped into my head, and so I sped up. "This is not the way to the house. Where are you taking me, Eros?" She asked, confused, and still stifling her sobs."You'll see." I said to her, and she just nodded and lay her head on my back as we rode up the mountainside. "We're here." I said, taking my helmet off, and she immediately went down the bike. "Wow." Her voice was in awe, and I couldn't help but smile a little as she stood there, helmet in hand, facing the side of the mountain that was overlooking the whole city and the beach. "It's beautiful.""Yeah. Beautiful." The words just slipped out of my mouth as I stared at her figure, taking in the view. She turned to look at me with a now-genuine smile plastered across her tear-stained face. "Secret hiding spot?"
