Chapter 2 Improper Between a Man and a Woman

“Young Miss, there’s a cat over here!” The dog even managed to gather such a crowd of people. A maid who was chasing the dog up ahead caught sight of the white cat on the tree, so she turned to shout.

“Is this the fellow that scratched my Daxian’s face?” asked Wan Yun as she walked up and glanced, “Where did this wild and filthy cat come from? Catch it! I want to let Daxian bite it to death!”

A wild and filthy cat?

Take a good look here! She was a lion cat sent as tribute from the Western Region!

Daxian bared its teeth viciously at Cheng Xiaoxiao with the look of a bully all over it’s face.

The maid came over with some nets. Then a few of them stood under the tree like they were hitting cicadas as they attempted to catch her. But she was not as easy to catch as they thought.

It was impossible. These ignorant human beings!

Cheng Xiaoxiao darted up towards the top of the tree. The maids could not reach her, so they could only bring out the ladders and send a few burly men up. They recklessly went up without paying any heed to whether the tree could withstand their weight. Since they were a safe distance away from her, she hung elegantly on the tree tip. She was waiting for them to fall off.

“What’s with the commotion?” said Chu Yunshen as he frowned. He was happily playing chess in his compound when he heard the ruckus.

As Xiaowu saw the tree shaking rather violently from a distance, he looked hard. Then he suddenly replied to him anxiously, “Master…I think it came from Miss Wan Yun’s compound. That cat is on the tree…tree, Master!”

Chu Yunshen moved his chess piece before looking up to say, “Since it’s so noisy, let’s go over for a look.”

Cheng Xiaoxiao was doing her best to hold on. She and the people were now in a stalemate. Before long, she heard a respectful voice say, “Greetings, Your Highness!”

The woman that just ordered everyone to shake the tree until she fell suddenly changed her tune. Then she hurriedly went over and said, “Your Highness, you’re here!”

Cheng Xiaoxiao was so exhausted that she was about to pass out. When she turned to see, she realized the prince was that dignified looking man from earlier. She felt like a drowning man clutching at the straw.

“Meow meow meow meow…”

Her savior was here! She didn’t want to get bitten to death by the dog!

“What’s going on?” said Chu Yunshen deeply.

“Erm…A wild cat came into my compound from god knows where. It even scratched Daxian’s face. I was trying to catch it but unexpectedly disturbed you, Your Highness. Please forgive me.”

Wan Yun’s face turned crimson while she acted shy. She looked completely different from the arrogant woman that furiously wanted to capture her. Cheng Xiaoxiao was thoroughly impressed. Then she spotted Chu Yunshen looking at her intriguingly.

“Meow meow meow meow!!!” Cheng Xiaoxiao’s throat was going hoarse.

Chu Yunshen saw the cat meowing at him nonstop as though it was asking him for help.

This cat…was certainly very intelligent.

“Your Highness, let’s ignore the wild cat and head to the front hall. You haven’t visited me for so long. I misse you so much.”

“That won’t be necessary. I want to see how you manage to catch this wild cat.” Chu Yunshen sat down calmly. Then he looked at the cat as he waited for some drama.

Cheng Xiaoxiao, “…”

Howl howl howl! The fellow wanted to seek revenge on a cat over such a minor grievance! He was definitely seeking payback from her!

But…

The branch could not withstand her weight and broke instead.

Although Cheng Xiaoxiao came crashing to the ground hard, the cat’s body instinctively flipped in midair. Then she landed lightly and tumbled. The huge black dog dashed towards her swiftly and bit her tail. Cheng Xiaoxiao cringed in pain, then turned back to scratch him hard. It was too much for the big black dog, so it released her.

When Cheng Xiaoxiao turned back to see Chu Yunshen as he sat there waiting to be entertained, a fury surged in her heart swiftly.

How dare he turn a blind eye? How dare he sat back and got a kick out of watching her suffer? She…she wanted to scratch his face into shreds!

She ran towards Chu Yunshen.

Since her scratching utterly provoked Daxian, it lunged towards her heedlessly.

Chu Yunshen caught sight of her dashing towards him as the huge black dog gave chase with his eyes all bloodshot and ferocious. They had lost all control of the cat and dog. The people around them turned pale with fear and scattered as they screamed. Wan Yun was so frightened that she darted into a corner. Chu Yunshen sat unmoving as he flicked his scabbard gently.

Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly felt someone grabbing her. Chu Yunshen had placed her in his arms. Then a light flashed before her eyes.

He unsheathed his sword and hacked the big black dog that was pouncing at her into two.

“Your Highness!”

A familiar scent of blood surged through the atmosphere. The blood that burst in the air came showering down on Cheng Xiaoxiao. As the culprit turned gently, there was no trace of blood on his white garments.

Cheng Xiaoxiao, “…”

He was just in his arms. Why did he throw her out in the blink of an eye?

He sheathed his sword. The unfortunate black dog was still convulsing on the ground. Wan Yu screamed, “Daxian!” She yelled so hysterically that it penetrated their eardrums hard.

Chu Yunshen turned to toss his sword to Xiaowu. Then he said, “Get this place cleaned up. Send Wan Yu five gold hairpins and give her money to give the dog a decent burial.”

Xiaowu acknowledged his order. Then he turned to the slaves who were in shock and said, “What are you waiting for? Clean up!”

Chu Yunshen turned to face the unrecognizable little cat and said, “I’ll give you two choices. You can either continue running or follow me. What will you choose?”

Xiaowu griped to himself. How could it possibly understand what his master said?

But as though it had awoken from a dream, the cat surprisingly stumbled over to the prince.

This cat was so intelligent that Xiaowu gaped in shock!

A slight smile emerged on Chu Yunshen’s face again. He dismissed his status on this rare occasion and bent over. His instincts were right, after all. This was an extraordinary divine cat!

Cheng Xiaoxiao walked up in front of him and placed her paw in his hand. Regardless of whether he understood or knew about the resentment in her heart, she said, “Damn you! Blood makes me faint!”

At that, she tilted and fainted.

By the time she came to, it was already the next day. After staring at her paws and wailing for a while, she finally accepted the fact that she transmigrated. She heard about people transmigrating to become princesses, princes, or unloved imperial concubines before swiftly embarking on some epic love. But she became a cat. So how was her story going to unfold?

“Are you awake?” Chu Yunshen looked at the little cat with interest as she curled herself into a tiny ball. Then he flicked her forehead.

The moment he flicked her, the little cat’s fur exploded and went upright like a round leather ball.

When she fainted out of the blue yesterday, he was surprisingly anxious. But it was only a small sliver of anxiety. After the court physician examined her, he concluded that she suffered from too much shock.

“I’ve given her medicine. When she wakes up tomorrow, bathe her. These wounds should recover by tomorrow now that I’ve applied medication.”

“Xiaowu, once you’re ready, put her in,” said Chu Yunshen.

Xiaowu walked over and rolled up his sleeves. He kept grumbling softly, “Master, why are you keeping that cat? There’s bound to be something wrong with it since it came from Wu!”

“Are you going to clean her or not?” After Chu Yunshen looked at him sideways, Xiaowu then finally picked up the cage.

“Little fellow, I’m going to bathe you!” Cheng Xiaoxiao seemed completely lost about where she was as Xiaowu carried her out. She was stunned. Was he going to bathe her?

In a second, she was submerged by hot water.

Wait wait wait wait! Where were his hands going?

Hey hey hey hey! He was a man, so it was inappropriate for him to touch her!

Cheng Xiaoxiao, “Meow!!!”

He was a hooligan!!!

Moments later, Chu Yunshen gazed at Cheng Xiaoxiao as she lost her temper and went hysterical. After getting bitten a few times by her, Xiaowu was too terrified to approach. He said, “Can’t you even handle a cat?”

Xiaowu was hurt, “Master, look at my hands and face! It scratched me everywhere!”

Chu Yunshen, “…”

Chu Yunshen rolled his sleeves up helplessly.

“Master, you’ve to be careful! That fellow has a wild nature!” said Xiaowu with fear lingering over him.

He was the wild natured one! Wild natured his ass!

Cheng Xiaoxiao glared ferociously at the guard. She was an unmarried girl. How could these two men touch her?

“Come over,” said Chu Yunshen as he reached his hand out at her.

Cheng Xiaoxiao hesitated.

Since she transmigrated, then she must have her own path to go down. If there was a script, then as the female lead, the male lead must be someone of high status. And this man was a diamond bachelor that came from nowhere and could rival Takeshi Kaneshiro in modern times.

As Chu Yunshen got ready for bed, he suddenly paused and quietly retrieved a sword from under the pillow. Then he lifted the blanket and shouted, “Who’s there!”

A furry little head then reached out from under the blanket.

When he spotted Cheng Xiaoxiao, he suddenly heaved a sigh of relief. Then he threw the sword to the bedside. “How did you get up here?”

He lifted her and proceeded to place her in the cage. But she gazed at him pitifully and meowed softly. It made him a little more gentle instead.

She forgot to mention that she was a competitive eater by day and often a Robin Hood by night. So that little lock mechanism was nothing to her. Moreover, how could he throw her into a cage right after he took advantage of her? It was inhuman to make her sleep in a cage!

Chu Yunshen looked at the open cage perplexedly and said, “…if you dare to disturb me when I rest, I’ll throw you out tomorrow.”
