Yvonne’s POV

On our way out, we stopped by to get pizza at a small pizza store just beside the restaurant. The moment absolutely distracted me from all the drama that had happened inside. We found a seat by the window, the neon sign buzzing faintly above us, and ordered two pepperoni slices and a bottle of iced tea each — after all I think that goes down smooth and sweet after a long day.

Liam took a sip, leaned back, and said with a half-smile, “You know what, I’ll take you back to my home. I’ve got something to make up for our first dinner that got interrupted. Lilian made something special you’d actually enjoy.”

The way he said it wasn’t a question as it was more like a quiet decision he’d already made. His voice was calm but certain, and the way he emphasized ‘our first dinner’ nearly knocked the air out of me. It wasn’t just what he said but it was how he said it, like it mattered to him that it was our moment.

I fiddled with my straw, pretending to focus on the melting ice cubes

  • Lost Heiress of the Belfort Brothers   Chapter 37 — The Night in White.

Tricia’s POVThe homecoming night glowed like something straight out of a dream. The whole hall shone under soft white drapes, golden fairy lights strung across the ceiling like a thousand stars trapped inside. The DJs were doing justice to the sound system as every beat of the music made the floor come alive beneath our feet.Students swayed and twirled, some already drenched in sweat from too much dancing, while others huddled in corners taking pictures, laughing like they had no care in the world. It was one of those nights that everyone waited for all semester—a night to show off, to feel seen, and to belong. And for me, I totally belonged here, because I was the centre of attraction. At least, that’s what it looked like.My heels clicked softly on the floor as I walked past a small group of girls who stopped mid-laugh just to stare at me. Their eyes followed me the way one follows a spotlight on stage. I could feel the admiration in their gazes, and honestly, it thrilled me.Adri

Tricia’s POV“Dr. Josh, you said I needed to be here myself before you could issue another DNA test to me.”My tone came out sharper than I intended right there at his office, but I didn’t care. I was in no mood for games.“Yeah, I did,” he said calmly, leaning back in his chair like a man who had all the time in the world.“So what was that for? You could have easily issued one to Adrian when I sent him over.”But then, he gave a dry chuckle that made my stomach twist in annoyance. “Sure, but I needed you to come over so we could talk better about this.”“Oh, I get where you’re driving at,” I said, folding my arms. “If it’s about money, you can always count on me. Since I’m now the heiress of the Belfort brothers, I can afford any amount you ask for. So, you can write out your account details and I will whatever amount you want to have this done.”“Sure, I want something,” he said, his eyes sliding over me slowly, deliberately. “But definitely not in cash.”My brows furrowed. “What’s

Yvonne’s POV‘What is he doing here?’ The thought froze somewhere in my head before I could even move.Liam stood at the door with his hands tucked into his pockets, looking so calm yet unreadable. His shirt sleeves were rolled to his elbows and his cute smiles caught my attention.“Hey,” he said, with his voice low and careful. “Can I come in?”Before I could even open my mouth, my mum spoke, in her usual warm tone. “Sure, you can.” She gestured slightly, her hand resting on the arm of her wheelchair.Liam stepped in politely, closing the door behind him. “Thank you, ma’am. I’m here for Yvonne.”“Okay, that’s fine. You’re welcome,” my mum replied, her voice steady and kind, like she already knew he was coming even before he did.I blinked. Wait—what? How on earth did they sound like they’d have discussed what was about to play out, before now? Did he stop by while I was in school today and they’d talked, which maybe that was why he wasn't in school today? Or maybe I was just imaginin

  • Lost Heiress of the Belfort Brothers   Chapter 34 — I don't need your pity.

Gentle’s POVThe whole space had gone so quiet that I could almost hear my own breathing. The only sound left was the distant buzz of voices coming from the cafeteria. Every student who had been laughing a few seconds ago right here now all stood frozen with their eyes darting between me and Tricia.I could feel the tension like heat pressing down on my skin. My jaw tightened as I sent one last glare across the crowd. Nobody moved, not even the bold ones who had been cheering her on. The moment I snatched Tricia’s phone and that sharp sound echoed through the air, everything stopped. Their faces shifted—some confused, some scared, while others were pretending not to have seen anything. I think that's one advantage of being one the Belfort Brothers.“Why would you..” Tricia began, her voice rising, but I cut her off before she could build momentum.“Enough.” The word came out low but sharp, leaving no space for her to argue. Her nostrils flared. “Gentle, this bitch almost ruined our li

Gentle’s POVThe phone in my pocket buzzed, so it drew my attention away from the noise around me. I glanced at the screen and noticed that it was Jay, my personal guard. You know, I’d been waiting for this call all morning.Without letting my expression give me away fully, I put the phone back inside my pocket and then moved to a nearby corner, but somehow out of everyone's sight. I took the phone out and pressed the phone to my ear, pretending like it was nothing. But inside, my mind was already working. I had a feeling this call would tell me everything I’d been trying to piece together about Yvonne Clarke.“Yvonne Clarke is an orphan,” Jay’s voice came through, though low and steady. “Discovered by her adopted mother in an alley about fifteen years ago.”That caught my breath for a second. An alley? I tilted my head slightly, stepping more farther away from where Tricia and my brothers were seated by the hallway. My eyes might’ve looked calm, but something in me shifted more like

  • Lost Heiress of the Belfort Brothers   Chapter 32 — Gentle Hit the Right Nerve

Yvonne’s POVDuring break, while others drifted off to snack corners and had fun with their peers, I had already changed into the apron. I pulled on the gloves, picked the towel too, and took the bucket and mop from Mrs Greg—the head of the janitorial staff, with hands that wouldn’t stop shaking. She had given me a quick nod that almost felt pitiful, but then instructed me to go clean the hallway behind the cafeteria as the principal had ordered. At least, it wasn't a place the whole school could crowd easily as the corridor was not too wide and out of the way. And students rarely walked through here unless they were heading to the staff room. That thought steadied me a little, knowing that if I could be quick, maybe it would be done before the curious ones found me.One thing kept looping in my head: I am fast at cleaning. I always have quick hands when doing chores. And so, with regards to that, I told myself I’d be done before anyone got wind of it.On a quick thought, I felt like
