Forbidden Love

Weak to Strong

Eden thought she had finally found love. She couldn’t have been more wrong. Orphaned and alone, Jace was the only man she had as a family in the whole world, but he despised her with every breath in him. She was nothing but a burden to him. Jace was set to marry the love of his life, Sky, who claimed she was pregnant for him, as he handed his pregnant wife, Eden, divorce papers. In the process of his maltreatment, Eden lost her pregnancy. Not that her husband gave a damn about it. Devastated, Eden decided to pick up the pieces of her life with the help of Jace's best friend, Kyrell, who stood by her through her heartbreak. Kyrell, who had always been in love with Eden, decided to make a move on her now that she was officially single, damning every consequence that comes with loving his best friend's ex-wife. What happens when Eden finally begins to fall for her ex-husband's best friend, Kyrell, just at the same time her ex-husband comes running back to her for forgiveness? Kyrell was ready to burn the world to finally be with the woman he loved more than life. But that would be over Jace's dead body. And one thing is certain... Kyrell and Jace can’t both have her.

Chapter 1
Eden sat in her room, dreading to step outside. He was still at home, and she couldn’t risk having a clash with him right now.She got off the bed and went to the bathroom for a quick shower, and when she was done, she put on joggers and a T-shirt. Sitting beside the mirror, she sighed at how miserable her life had been for the past few years. Oh well, it had always been miserable and sad. She let out a sigh, leaving the table to sit on her bed.A knock sounded on her door, and she knew it must be him. What does he want with her now? She wasn’t feeling too well for a quarrel this morning. The knock came yet again, though harsher than the first one, and she stood slowly, walking to the door and unbolting it."What took you so long?" Jace barked harshly.“I am sorry; I was feeling a little tired,” she replied lowly.“Tired? How can you possibly be tired? You barely do anything in this house, aside from eating and lazing about, just because you’re pregnant!” he said harshly, but she igno

Chapter 2
The first time Kyrell saw Eden, he knew he liked her and wanted to be with her, but it was impossible because now, she was already pregnant with Jace’s child. It was, in fact, the main reason he didn’t attend the wedding. He couldn’t bear to watch Eden get married to a man who didn’t love her while he was hopelessly in love with her.“Hello, sir?” Kyrell was startled out of his thoughts by Karen, Jace’s secretary.“Yes, Karen, do you need something?” He asked, slightly embarrassed that he had been caught off guard.“The boss asked me to remind you about the presentation for the pitch during the meeting with the Conor group.”“Yeah, sure. Everything’s set; I’m just waiting for them to arrive. Or are they here yet?” Kyrell asked, thinking the time for the meeting had been moved back without his knowledge.“Not yet; they’ll be here in an hour,” Karen said.“I’ll see you in an hour then,” Kyrell said, dismissing Karen and returning his attention to his computer.***“Ouch!!!” Eden screame

Kyrell paced the hospital’s waiting room while Eden fought for her life in the ER. He still couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed in Jace’s house. For a moment he wondered what had happened to his friend to make him so evil, but then it occurred to him that it was in Jace’s nature to have no empathy.“Kyrell?” The nurse’s voice snapped him out of his reverie.“The doctor would like to see you in his office."“After you.” Kyrell said as he followed behind the nurse. As he walked to the doctor’s office, he prayed fervently that nothing life-threatening was going on with Eden or the child.“Thank you for coming, Mr. Kyrell. Are you the patient’s husband?” the doctor asked when Kyrell was settled.“Her husband’s friend, actually. Is Eden okay?” Kyrell said, even though he would have preferred to be her husband.“Of course, and the baby as well. But we noticed a lot of exhaustion and malnourishment. Where’s her husband, if I may ask?”“He’s away—he’s, uhm, on a work trip.” Kyrell lie

Jace walked into the Silver Crest Hotel and headed straight for the reception. The lady behind the counter smiled when she saw him approach.“Good evening, sir.”“I’m here to see Miss Sky Landon,” Jace replied curtly, brushing off the suggestive stares of the receptionist and several other women in the lobby.“You must be Jace Bellamy, right?” she asked, and he gave a small nod.“She’s in Suite 508,” the receptionist said, leaning forward with a smile that carried more intent than professionalism.Jace crooked a finger for her to lean closer. Thinking he had gotten her message and probably wanted something intimate, she leaned in with a sheepish grin.“The next time you see me and attempt this foolery, I’ll make sure you’re packing your desk by morning. For your sake, I hope you do not forget.” He said with a smirk, his voice low and dangerous.Jace watched as the confident gleam in her eyes slowly dissolved into fear. He liked it when he made women cower like that, especially cheap w

“How do you feel today, ma’am? And are you keeping up with your medications?” Tessa asked softly the moment she saw Eden approach, her hands still moving as she wiped down the polished counter. It had become part of her daily routine to check in with Eden’s health, and Eden truly appreciated it.“I’m much better, thank you.” Eden smiled, her voice warm but faint. Both women soon focused on their tasks in the kitchen, falling into a quiet rhythm. When Tessa was done with the sweeping, she shifted to help Eden with the evening meal.Upstairs, Jace slammed his fist against his desk. Rage surged through him, but this time, it wasn’t directed toward anyone in particular; it was anger at himself. He couldn’t stop the flood of thoughts and images of Eden since that morning. So, he had restricted himself to his study to give Eden some space while he purged her from his system. Her blouse had been too thin, a pale cream against her skin, and he had seen more than he should have. The soft outli

Jace and Kyrell left for their appointment right after finishing their breakfast. The drive took a little over ten minutes before they reached the French bistro in the heart of Riverbend, a thriving and noisy district. The two men were unusually silent, each trapped in his own thoughts until the chauffeur cleared his throat and announced they had arrived. The bistro, one of the Newton family’s many properties in the city, was named Maison Rouge and stood prominently in the lively Parkview Quarter.Their client was already seated at the reserved table, waiting. The meeting had been arranged for eight in the morning, but now the clock was pushing ten. Jace was notorious for never keeping to time, and everyone knew better than to scold him for it. The man’s irritation showed in his stiff smile, even though he tried hard to mask his impatience. As they reached the table, Dr. Hughes, their client, extended his hand to shake Jace’s.“M

Eden staggered as she tried to rise, her body trembling in pain, her breath uneven, and tears already streaming down her cheeks. Every part of her ached, but she forced herself upright, clutching the wall for dear life.Jace stood in front of her with that dark, ice-cold, hollow gaze he reserved for her. He didn’t flinch or soften as he watched her struggle as though she were some lifeless object in his way. When she managed to stand at last, the words that left his mouth left her frozen in shock.“Don’t waste any more of my time. Go into the kitchen and prepare the food I asked for.”Her eyes widened. Pain, confusion, and disbelief fought for space on her mind and face. She was bleeding from her nose, a cut split across her forehead, and blood was trailing slowly down her skin, yet by some miracle, the life inside her remained untouched. And still, even in her broken state, he demanded she cook.“Please, let me change

The morning light crept slowly into the vast mansion, slipping through the tall windows as though reluctant to disturb the silence. It was the kind of silence that pressed down on Eden’s chest whenever she woke, thick and suffocating, reminding her of where she was and who she belonged to.She sat at the edge of the bed for a while, staring blankly at the faint dust particles drifting in the pale beam of sunlight that had forced its way past the curtains. Her hands rubbed slowly against each other, restless, the way they always did when she was afraid. Some mornings, she prayed she wouldn’t see Jace at all; on others, she prayed that if she did, maybe, just maybe, he would either ignore her or look at her without contempt in his eyes. She pushed herself up; every movement was cautious. Even in her own bedroom, she carried herself as though she walked on broken glass. That was what it meant to be married to Jace, to always live on the edge, always waiting fo

Chapter 9
Eden held her chin high as Kyrell guided her through the wide double doors and into the glittering hall. The ceiling soared overhead, chandeliers dripping with crystal light that shimmered across marble floors polished to a mirror’s perfection. Every corner of the room screamed overkill, from the tailored suits to the sparkling gowns and glasses raised in measured laughter. Wealthy men and women mingled in tight knots, voices a low hum of business deals disguised as casual chatter. The moment her heels tapped against the marble, her chest tightened again. Her fingers clenched the slim black purse in her hands as though it were a lifeline. She could already feel eyes flicking toward her, measuring, comparing. For a moment, she wanted to fold back into herself, to look down, to disappear. But then she remembered Kyrell’s words from earlier in the car, his insistence that she was every bit as radiant, every bit as worthy, as the women who thrived in these hall

Jace finished the long conversation with Sky’s father at last. His polite mask slipped the moment he turned from the man, and his gaze immediately swept toward the table where he had left Eden.Empty.The seat was vacant, the glass she had been sipping from already cleared by one of the servers. His jaw tightened as he scanned the crowded ballroom, searching through faces and dresses, but she was nowhere in sight. Irritation flared in his chest like a storm. He strode toward Kyrell, who sat alone at the edge of the table, absently rotating his half-melted cocktail glass between his palms.“Where is she?” Jace’s voice cut sharply, cold, and demanding.Kyrell looked up.“She went to the ladies’ room some minutes ago, but she hasn’t come back yet.” He frowned, realization dawning in his voice. “It’s… It’s been almost an hour now.”The silence that followed was
