Vague Reality

"Why did you bring me here?" Leah asked suspiciously, by then they had arrived at Adrian's apartment. Adrian took a deep breath, he stared at Leah for a long time, making Leah feel a little embarrassed.

"Adrian! Answer my question!" Leah demanded, her hand tightly gripping the cellphone in her hand. "This is your place, we lived together here for more than a year," answered Adrian in a choked voice.

Leah was dumbfounded, her face completely pale, she looked like someone who's looking at a ghost. "You are lying!" Leah exclaimed, shaking her head. How could Leah end up live with Adrian?

Adrian looked down, arranging the right words so that Leah wouldn't be too shocked. "After your relationship with Jerome finished, you had time to live with your sister Jessica. Because our relationship was getting better and better, you finally decided to move here," said Adrian cautiously.

Hearing the mention of Jessica's name, Leah became even more surprised. "Jessica? You know Jessica too?" Leah murmured in a trembling voice. Adrian nodded, "You and Jessica were inseparable, you often take Jessica to dinner with us, so I know Jessica quite well," said Adrian. He felt freer to explain because it seemed Leah was starting to digest all the information he gave.

Leah felt weak at once, for some reason the facts that were revealed by Adrian made more sense than what Leah heard from Jerome. "Leah, are you okay?" Adrian stepped forward holding Leah's body which was about to collapse.

"I'm fine," Leah whispered and straightened her body back up. "Can you reach Jessica?" Leah asked hopefully. Adrian shook his head, "Jessica suddenly disappeared, she has even moved out of her apartment," Adrian's answer made Leah even more scared. What if something bad happens with Jessica?

"Did you know that Jessica is married?" asked Leah, she remembered what Jerome said. Adrian shook his head, "Jessica is still all alone, well at least until two months ago, She always complained because of the men she dated, you know they always took advantage of her," Adrian's voice sounded far away.

Leah's knees completely limp, she crouched down and covered her face. Gosh, which facts are true! Why was it that the more Leah dug further, the more confused she became? Where is Jessica? Leah was really worried about her only sister.

"My parents, are they really dead?" Leah spoke incoherently, when she looked up she was surprised to see Adrian, who suddenly had crouched in front of her.

Adrian stretched out his hand to invite Leah to get up, then he led her to sit on the sofa. "They have indeed died Leah, two years ago, in a plane crash," explained Adrian cautiously.

Only that one fact fits, while the other facts are completely different. Jerome's version and Adrian's version, Leah didn't know who's right, but Adrian's version makes a lot more sense. Should Leah trust this stranger?

"Is there any evidence that I used to live here before?" Leah had control over herself. Adrian paused for a moment, "I don't know if you can say this is proof or not, but you have your walking closet here, would you like to see it?" asked Adrian politely. Leah nodded quickly.

"Here," Adrian's steps stopped in front of a white door. He gently pushed the door, a medium-sized walking closet appeared in front of them. The line of clothes, shoes, and bags looked a little messy and messy. It fits Leah's character very well.

Leah stepped inside, staring at the sizable rows of colorful bags and shoes. The items in front of her matched Leah's taste, Leah could have trusted Adrian just with the evidence of these items. But unfortunately for Leah, this evidence wasn't enough...

"Take a look at it," Adrian handed Leah a medium-sized box. Leah accepted it confusedly then opened it carefully. Photos of Leah and Adrian that were taken by an Instax camera greeted her in various poses. Leah looks very happy in those pictures.

"So we were dating?" Leah muttered more to herself. Adrian looked at Leah with a look of relief because Leah finally accepted that fact.

"I know that everything is different now, but at least I want you to know what kind of life you lived before," said Adrian, his voice trembled.

Leah looked up, suddenly a question flashed through her mind. "The day I got into an accident, I want to know the whole story!" exclaimed Leah. She felt that that day was the turning point of all the confusion she was experiencing right now.

Adrian was about to open his mouth when suddenly Leah's cellphone rang. "Leah! where the hell is you?!" cried Amy right after Leah pressed the green button on her cell phone. "What is wrong?" Leah asked in surprise. "Hurry to my house now! Jerome is on his way here!" Amy babbled frantically. Leah glared, "I'll be over there now! Send the address!" said Leah and hurried out of the walking closet, making Adrian confused.

"What is wrong?" asked Adrian as he walked following Leah. "I need to get to Amy's house right now, Jerome is on the way there," Leah replied quickly. Adrian frowned, "Amy?"

"I'll explain on the road, can you go speed?" Leah asked, pushing the button for the elevator down. "I'm the master," said Adrian proudly. Leah felt another feeling when she interacted with Adrian, but she pushed the strange feeling out of her mind.

Adrian's car sped toward Amy's house, next to him Leah was busy explaining who Amy was and why she had to get there. "Did I ever talk about anything that related to King's investor list?" Leah asked, turning her head to look at Adrian, who was busy driving.

"Kings Investor list? You mean Kings, Jerome's company?" Adrian asked back. Leah nodded, hoping that Adrian would have a little 'clue' so that Leah could reveal the facts.

Adrian tilted his head, thinking. "I'm not sure, you've mentioned something about a fictitious investment company, but I don't know whether it's related to what you mean or not," answered Adrian with a frown.

Fictitious company investment? Was Leah investigating Jerome's company? But for what? Unless her life was at risk Leah usually wouldn't care about other people's business. There must be something that finally made Leah feel the need to investigate Kings.

"Amy? Has Jerome arrived? I'm near your house!" said Leah quickly. "Enter through the back door, I'll pick you up there. Jerome is already in the living room! He just arrived!" replied Amy in a panicked tone.

"Thanks, Ad!" yelled Leah, closing Adrian's car door behind her. "Leah!" called Adrian from the open car window. Leah turned, "Yes?"

"Call me whenever you need help," said Adrian with watery eyes. It felt like he wanted to run to hug Leah and prevent Leah from returning to Jerome, but Adrian knew there was something that Leah wanted to do.

Somehow Leah felt a strong urge to cry, but she quickly turned away and walked quickly leaving Adrian who was staring at Leah's back with a feeling of tightness that he had never felt before.

"Come on, hurry! If I caught lying, Jerome will kill my husband!" babbled Amy as she pulled Leah's hand toward the guest room.

Just as Leah was hiding under the blanket, Jerome knocked on the guest room door. "I woke her up, but she looks not feeling well, there she is! I'll leave you two," said Amy as she hurried out of the guest room, rubbing her chest.

Jerome looked at Leah who was rubbing her eyes suspiciously. "Are you all right?" asked Jerome as he sat on the edge of the bed. Leah smiled with sleepy eyes, "Yeah, my head was just a little sore, why are you suddenly here?" Leah asked with a confused expression.

"I've called you a few times but the calls always end up at the voice box," Jerome replied as he studied Leah's reaction. "Ah my goodness! I overslept since earlier, so I didn't have time to see the cellphone!" Leah exclaimed, opening her handbag. She opened the cellphone that Amy had returned earlier and pretended to be surprised when she got 32 calls from Jerome.

Suddenly Jerome hugged Leah tightly, "Don't ever be like that again," Jerome said in a whispered voice that gave Leah the chills. Leah's hand went up to touch Jerome's back and patted him lightly, "Sorry, I won't do it again..."

Suddenly the cell phone in Jerome's hand vibrated, a call came in. Jerome let go of his hug and stared at the phone screen. His face looked a little surprised, "Wait a minute, I have to accept this," Jerome said as he stepped out of the room. One thing that Jerome didn't know was that before he stepped out Leah had seen the name on Jerome's cellphone screen, Jessica.

Could it be that Jessica who called was Jessica her sister? Leah bit her lip, she had to move fast, in case Jessica was in danger...
