Chapter 8: Chapter Eight: On the Topic of Gossip

As expected, Malcolm Godwin left in a huff when he saw that she refused to back down. The moment Malcolm Godwin stepped out, Venus Kellogg collapsed onto the chair, her body no longer able to hold up. If Malcolm Godwin had stayed any longer, she might have fainted right in front of him.

Just then, Anna returned with some cold medicine and, seeing her state, quickly put the medicine down and felt her forehead.

"Scorching hot!" Anna said anxiously, "Sister Lin, how did you get such a high fever? We need to go to the hospital."

As she spoke, she started to gather things, planning to take Venus Kellogg to the hospital.

"No, I still have a scene to shoot," Venus Kellogg forced herself to stand up. "We'll go after we finish shooting."

"Then at least take the medicine," Anna knew she couldn't persuade this "workaholic" and had to compromise. "It might make you feel better."

"I'm fine," Venus Kellogg shook her head. She couldn't take the medicine because she was pregnant. "I'll rest after the shoot."

The next scene was with Levi Graham. After a few days of brief interactions, they were already very familiar with each other, and their coordination was excellent, with very few NGs, almost always getting it right on the first take.

Venus Kellogg tried her best to remember her lines, but Levi Graham noticed something was off and frowned, asking, "Are you okay?"

"Bef—"

Before she could finish saying "I'm fine," she fainted. Levi Graham quickly caught her, feeling her forehead and immediately understanding.

"She has a fever. I'll take her to the hospital." Without hesitation, Levi Graham picked her up and strode out, only to run into Malcolm Godwin.

Malcolm Godwin stared at the person in Levi Graham's arms, her face flushed and trembling, unconscious and muttering.

"Medicine... I can't take medicine... the baby..." Malcolm Godwin couldn't hear her clearly but reached out to take her from Levi Graham.

Levi Graham twisted away, refusing, and looked coldly at Kristin Bennett, "Stupid is as stupid does, and now you've made others sick. Some people really aren't fit to be actors."

Kristin Bennett, the culprit, had tears in her eyes, looking innocent. "I really didn't mean it. It was just two glasses of water. I didn't think Sister Shuyi would be so fragile..."

What was going on? Why did the atmosphere between Malcolm Godwin and Venus Kellogg seem so tense?

Unconscious, Venus Kellogg didn't know she had been seen as a "rival" by Kristin Bennett.

Levi Graham didn't want to argue and walked past them. Malcolm Godwin watched his figure, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.

"You're awake?" As soon as Venus Kellogg opened her eyes, a joyful voice sounded beside her.

She struggled to look up and saw Cathy Nathaniei sitting by her bed, overjoyed to see her awake.

"I..." Venus Kellogg tried to sit up, but her hoarse voice startled her.

"Is there anything else bothering you?" Seeing her move, Cathy Nathaniei quickly helped her.

Venus Kellogg wanted to speak, but her throat was too sore. She shook her head, trying to get out of bed, but as soon as she stood up, the room spun.

"You have a fever and a cold. At your age, you still don't know how to take care of yourself. Why didn't you come to the hospital when you were sick? I was scared to death when I got the call," Cathy Nathaniei complained, but still poured her a glass of warm water.

"Who brought me here?" Fainting on set must have frightened the director and the crew.

Cathy Nathaniei, knowing her concerns, lowered her voice and patted her hand. "Your assistant called me. Don't worry, I've already told the doctor to keep an eye on everything. No one knows about your pregnancy."

Venus Kellogg sighed in relief. "Thank you, Ziqiu."

"Don't be so formal with me," Cathy Nathaniei glared at her. "Focus on getting better. The doctor said you've been overworking yourself. I told you yesterday to take care of yourself."

Venus Kellogg stayed in the hospital for a day until her fever subsided, and she felt much better. Cathy Nathaniei had to leave for work, so Anna accompanied her to handle the discharge procedures.

While packing, Juliet Eugen called. "Don't leave through the main entrance. I've arranged for a driver to pick you up at the back door."

Venus Kellogg was surprised. "What happened?"

"Some paparazzi took photos of Levi Graham bringing you to the hospital yesterday. There are rumors all over the internet now. Be careful."

Worried, Venus Kellogg asked, "What about Levi Graham? He should be handling the PR."

Juliet Eugen replied calmly, "The company wants to let the buzz simmer a bit, which will indirectly promote your new drama. But it means you'll have to endure some hardship."

Venus Kellogg understood. Levi Graham, with his higher popularity and fan base, would benefit more from the scandal. Her social media was likely flooded with his fans' comments.

"I understand."

Relieved that she didn't object, Juliet Eugen continued, "Stay home for a few days. I'll inform Director Cheng. Rest well."

"Okay."

"Don't check your social media for now. It's for your own good."

"I understand. Thank you, Juliet Eugen."

Venus Kellogg stayed at home for two days, receiving occasional calls from Cathy Nathaniei and Anna. She avoided her phone and social media.

In the lounge, Kristin Bennett, holding her phone, gossiped to Malcolm Godwin, "Brother Mohan, have you seen the recent posts on Twitter?"

"No."

Kristin Bennett nodded. "Of course, Brother Mohan, you're so busy, you wouldn't have time for gossip."

"You won't believe it, but there are rumors that Sister Shuyi and Beicheng are dating. Everyone says they look great together."

The man, sitting with his legs crossed, paused.

Kristin Bennett tilted her head and smiled. "Do you think they're really together? Actually, Sister Shuyi is quite pretty, and she looks good with Beicheng. What do you think?"

"The heir of the Luo family wouldn't date a third-rate actress like her," Malcolm Godwin sneered. "She's not even worthy."

Surprised by his anger, Kristin Bennett wondered why the usually composed Malcolm Godwin would say such things.

Before she could ask, Malcolm Godwin added, "I never pay attention to these things."

He hid his possessiveness deep in his gaze, but Kristin Bennett didn't miss the hint of emotion.

How could her Brother Mohan have feelings for such a woman?
