Chaos erupted the moment Celus and Darron's father disappeared over the cliff. Salen's screams echoed through the trees, but the warriors were all focused on one fact; their Alpha was gone. Celus' pack turned to the traitors and attacked, only seeking their blood.
Brady lifted Salen off the ground bridal style, desperate to get her away from the commotion. Her cries were hysterical, making his chest ache. He couldn't imagine the pain she was going through. He may have lost his best friend, but she lost her other half.
Darron was running through the crowd of fighters, begging everyone to stop. His father no longer had a tight grip on his control, and he was desperate to get the bloodshed to be over. 'This is all my fault.' He thought, pulling men apart and searching for Salen, wanting nothing more than to beg for her forgiveness.
He finally spotted her in the arms of Celus' beta, her arms tearing at his as she tried to go after her mate. Darron frowned,
The aura of the pack land calmed down immensely over the next few days. No one had to feel like they had to look over their shoulders every second. No one but Celus. The thought of his uncle still loomed over him, making his nerves feel overwhelmed.Salen quickly became comfortable in her new home with her mate. However, it wasn't what she expected.Celus had been locked in his office almost twenty four hours of the day after his surprise visit. She brought him food whenever she thought he would be hungry, but he was too zoned in on paperwork and cleaning up the mess that happened earlier that week to notice or take it.Salen ascended the stairs with a sandwich in one hand and a glass of water in the other. She was determined to get him to stop working, no matter what she had to do.She knocked on his office door and waited for his gruff come inbefore pushing it open just enough for her to slide through."Hey." She smiled
The human territory was buzzing with frantic shoppers as they pulled up in front ofCalmer Crest, a diner in the center of town."Why is everything so busy?" Safiya asked, gripping tightly to Brady's arm. He pulled away from her hold and instead draped his arm over her shoulders for protection."I don't know." He looked back and waited for Celus and Salen to get out of the car. "Maybe there's some sort of holiday we don't know about."Celus reached down and grabbed Salen's hand, helping her out the car before slamming the door shut behind her. She stood up on her toes and planted a kiss to his cheek making him smile, shaking his head trying to play off his blush. The diner was nowhere near as hectic as the rest of the town, but it was still full of families enjoying meals together and friends gossiping away over milkshakes and their burgers. The sixties themed decor inside made it feel cozy with brightly colored booths and matching tables. A
Salen enjoyed shopping with Safiya and Brady. Her mate's Beta had a really good taste in clothes which came as a surprise to all of them. They were now using him to judge the outfits they were trying on to decide what to buy.Celus insisted Salen spended as much money as she wanted. He wanted her to get whatever she wanted to make her feel more comfortable in her new home.Safiya emerged from behind the curtain of the changing room wearing a bright pink tanktop and white mini skirt. Celus didn't enjoy this part. He sat lazily on the couch they provided, waiting patiently for Salen. She had only come out in one outfit so far that Safiya picked out, earning an immediateno from both of the guys. It was a very short black dress paired with a jean jacket and nude stockings."What do you think?" Safiya asked, twirling around in her short skirt as she tried to finish tucking in her tanktop."Safiya, honey," Brady sat up with his elbows resting on
Celus locked himself in his office again as soon as they got home. Brady just gave Salen a shrug, taking Safiya's hand in his and leading her to their room. "I'm sorry. Try and talk to him." He called over his shoulder, leaving her bummed and alone. With a deep breath she ascended the stairs and tucked her shaking hands into her pockets. The office door was cracked so it made it easy for Salen to peak in. The once well put together room was now destroyed. His desk was flipped over, paper and books scattered all over the floor. The curtains were ripped from the wall and paintings were shredded. In the middle of the chaos, Celus sat with his head in his hands on the floor. He gripped his hair while streaming curse words. Reaching down in anger, he grabbed the closest book to him and whipped it at the wall leaving a dent. Salen jumped at the loud crash catching his attention. His head snapped to the door, catching a glimpse of her light blonde hair.
Celus gripped his phone in his hand, building up the nerve to call his uncle. He felt foolish denying him a few days ago only to call him up and asking to come later. Salen sat supportive across from him in one of his office chairs. Celus set the phone down on his desk with a sigh before picking it up again and holding it to his ear. He dialed his uncle's number before he lost the nerve and listened to it ring. "Hello?" His uncle's deep voice echoed from the other end. Celus straightened up in his seat and cleared his throat. "This is Alpha Celus." He winced at his formality. There was a silence on the line, the only sound passing through was rustling from movement. The sound of a door clicking made his ear perk. "Sorry. I had to go somewhere private. So, what can I do for you?" He asked, his voice becoming lighter. With a sigh and an unsure look to his mate, Celus spoke, "I'll do it." This caught his uncle's attention. "That's great!"
Monday came a lot sooner than Celus had hoped. This pack has been his home his entire life, and guilt filled him. He didn't want them to think he was ditching them.Salen was very helpful for everyone as they prepared to say goodbye. She made sure everything was in order before they left, even setting up ways for Safiya to contact Brady and come visit while they are gone. Safiya has been bawling her eyes out, but she was supportive of her mate. She knew this was a big opportunity for him, and she wasn't going to be the one to stand in the way of that."Are you okay?" Brady asked, emerging from his room with a bright blue suitcase in his hand. He smiled wide, but an empty feeling was already starting to form in his stomach at the thought of being separated from his mate for so long."I'm fine. I'm just thinking." Celus grumbled, taking one last look around the pack house with dread."It's going to be okay. Your pack will be fine." He patted him on the shou
Brady ushered his Alpha and future Luna out the front door of the castle with bubbling enthusiasm. They received curious glances and whispers which Celus returned with threatening growls."Be nice." Salen smiled, smacking his check lightly."No. I heard what they said." He remained serious and ridgid as they walked through the garden. A variety of flowers lined the stone pathway with colors of blue and purple. A patch of red roses clashed with the others, their large ceramic pot sitting next to a large decorative bench."This place is nice." Brady looked around, admiring the area as pack members enjoyed the outdoors with their families.Suddenly his phone began to ring in his pocket. When he saw the picture that lit up the screen, his face brightened."Sayifa!" He squealed, pressing his phone tightly to his ear. "I miss you so much!" He began pacing the lawn, fully immersed in his conversation."He's right. It is nice here." Salen looped her
Celus threw the front door of the castle open, alarming loitering members. They looked him over as they whispered, and Salen rested her hand on his back to keep him focused on what they were there to do."We need to find Alpha Landrews." She pointed. Brady nodded along next to her. He was prepared to grab on to Celus to keep him from attacking any one of the gossiping wolves in the main hall.Celus just nodded, knowing they were both right. They had more pressing issues to deal with first. He released the doors from his tightened grip and let them swing closed."I'm sorry, but we're looking for King Landrews." Brady gave them all a friendly smile over Celus' towering shoulders. A young man took a step forward and pointed up one of the staircases."He's in his office." He told them, his voice slightly shaky as he lowered his wavering arm."Thank you." Brady bowed his head to him and followed Celus up the many stairs. His footsteps echoed through the
