Chapter 9: The Breaking Point

last update Last Updated: 2025-12-13 00:30:22

Silence filled the days that followed.

Heavy. Cold. Punishing.

For Daniel.

For Amira.

For two hearts that had been reaching for each other, only to be torn apart by a force neither of them had been prepared for.

Amira — A Heart Unanswered

Amira mornings began the same way—waking up with a faint hope that maybe Daniel had messaged her.

He hadn’t.

Not once.

She sat on the edge of her bed, hugging her pillow, eyes swollen from crying through the night. The message he sent replayed in her mind like a cruel echo:

We need to stop seeing each other.

No explanation.

No goodbye.

Just a severed connection.

By the third day, she couldn’t take it anymore. She grabbed her bag and headed straight to the printing shop, desperate to see him, to understand what had gone wrong, to hear the truth from his lips instead of a cold text.

But when she reached the shop, an elderly woman was sweeping the entrance.

“Excuse me,” Amira said softly, trying to steady her voice. “Is Daniel here?”

The woman looked up

The kiss lingered long after their lips parted. Not because it was urgent. Not because it was reckless. But because it carried everything they had been holding back—fear, longing, relief, love. When they finally stepped apart, the world around them felt quieter, as though the city itself was giving them space to breathe.Amira rested her forehead against Daniel’s chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart.“I don’t want secrets anymore,” she whispered. “No more silence. No more deciding things alone.”Daniel nodded, his hand brushing gently through her hair.“I promise,” he said softly. “From now on… we face everything together.”She pulled back slightly, searching his face.“You’re not afraid?”“I am,” he admitted honestly. “But I’m more afraid of losing you.”Her eyes shimmered.“Then we try,” she said. “Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s hard.”Daniel smiled faintly. “Especially if it’s hard.”Reality KnocksThey didn’t stay in the garden much longer. As beautiful as it was,

  • Love Found Me In The City   Chapter 10: When Fate Interferes

The city had a strange way of pulling people toward the things they were running from. And lately, both Daniel and Amira were running in circles—each trying to protect the other, each breaking in the process. But fate is stubborn. And fate wasn’t done with them yet.Amira — A Step Toward the TruthBy the fourth day of silence, Amira could no longer sit still. She paced her room, her heart thundering with a mixture of anger, fear, and the unbearable longing she’d been carrying.Tomi entered quietly, arms folded.“You look like you’re about to burn down a building.”“Maybe I should,” Amira muttered.Tomi sighed and sat beside her. “You’re hurting. And whenever you’re hurting, you get quiet. Too quiet. That’s when I know you’re planning something.”Amira turned to her. “Tomi… I need to know what really happened.”“Between you and Daniel?”“No,” Amira whispered. “Between Daniel and my father.”Tomi froze for a second. Then nodded.“Tell me what you want to do,” she said.Amira lifted her

  • Love Found Me In The City   Chapter 8: Storms Begin To Gather

Amira barely slept that night. Her father’s tone over the phone had been sharp—too sharp. The kind of voice he used when he was gathering information, connecting dots, preparing to take action.By morning, she knew something was wrong. Her father summoned her to his study before breakfast. The air felt thick as she stepped inside. Chief Bello sat behind his polished mahogany desk, a glass of water untouched by his side, his eyes fixed on his daughter like he could see straight through her.“Sit,” he said.Amira obeyed.“Who is this Daniel?” he asked immediately. She closed her eyes briefly. “I told you—he’s—”“You told me nothing,” he cut in. “You told me half-truths. Avoided direct answers. That ends now.”“Daddy—”“Amira.”Her name came out like a warning. Not loud. Not angry.Just final. She straightened in her chair. “He’s someone I care about.”Chief Bello’s jaw tightened. “You will stop seeing him.”“No.”The word was quiet but solid. His eyes flared in disbelief. “Do you want

The week after their talk at the park unfolded like a gentle tug of war between peace and tension. On one side was Daniel—steady, grounding, warm.On the other was Chief Bello—strict, demanding, immovable. And in between stood Amira, trying to keep her balance as two worlds quietly fought over the direction of her heart. But what neither world knew was that something had already begun to shift within her.Something bold.Something hopeful.Something dangerously close to love. The Week UnfoldsAmira found herself thinking about Daniel at the oddest times—during board meetings, while reviewing proposals, even while sitting in her father’s overly polished office. She would catch herself smiling, for no reason at all.“Are you sure you’re okay?” Tomi asked one afternoon as they sipped smoothies at a quiet café.“I’m fine,” Amira lied, stirring her drink.“No, you’re not,” Tomi countered. “You’re doing that thing again—where your mind is in three places and none of them are here.”Amira s

The days that followed their night market outing were filled with a quiet kind of sweetness—messages exchanged at odd hours, stolen moments between busy schedules, memories replayed with soft smiles. For Daniel, every vibration of his phone sparked something warm inside him.For Amira, every message from him felt like a breath of fresh air in a world that often demanded too much. But sweetness doesn’t always last unchallenged.Especially when two worlds are not meant—at least in the eyes of others—to meet. One early morning, Amara sat at the breakfast table opposite her father.Chief Bello was a man who never needed to raise his voice to command attention. His eyes were sharp, his presence heavy with expectation. The newspaper lay open in front of him, untouched, because he never really needed it—he stayed informed through his own network.“Amira,” he said without looking up.“Yes, Daddy?”“I heard you were at the night market recently.”Her heart froze mid-beat.She forced a calm ton
