Chapter 3

Author: Knit Knot
Over the past month, Martin rarely returned home.

Every single time he came back, he went straight to the study.

On the rare occasions I actually managed to see him, I behaved obediently. Not only did I prepare his favorite fruits, but I also personally ironed his clothes.

No matter what I talked to him about, I never mentioned a single word about Julia.

Meanwhile, I received messages from Julia every single day, filled with details about the things Martin did with her.

There were photos of them watching movies, walking dogs together, kissing, and even bedroom photos.

I replied to every single message, and I even offered her my blessings.

Such replies probably gave Julia confidence, so she posted a joint photo of herself and Martin directly onto social media.

The people in our social circle were completely stunned when they saw this picture. They never expected that I would endure things to such an extent.

In fact, several people even specifically approached Martin to ask how they could get their own wives to act the same way.

Yet, hearing these people's words, Martin did not feel a single bit of happiness.

I was just too obedient, so obedient that I looked like a completely different person from the Anna in his memory.

He even suspected for a moment whether the current me was a different person altogether.

However, every time he saw the way I looked at him, the doubts in his heart dissolved.

Perhaps it was simply because I loved him so much that I was willing to believe absolutely anything he said.

Thinking this way, Martin once again dismissed his suspicions.

The next day, Martin suddenly came back to pick me up.

"Anna, come with me. Julia has something she wants your help with."

Though I felt a bit surprised, I didn't say anything and followed Martin into the car.

To my surprise, he actually brought me to a bridal shop.

When we got married, this was exactly where I tried on my wedding dress.

Except now, the wedding dress was being worn by Julia.

Hilariously, not only was the bridal shop the same for her and me, but even the wedding dress was identical.

From my memories, I recalled that Martin had this wedding dress custom-made for me back then, and he had called it a special gift for me.

I never expected that this gift would one day be given to someone else as well.

The moment Julia saw me, she reached out to link her arm with mine. "Anna, Martin said you'd so kindly allow me to fulfill this tiny little birthday wish of mine."

Saying that, she looked toward Martin as if seeking help.

Then, she lowered her head, pretending to be pathetic. "Don't worry, I'm aware and won't have thoughts I shouldn't have."

Hearing this, Martin glared at me.

It was as if I were the one who had committed a heinous crime.

Yet, I had clearly done absolutely nothing.

Julia lifted the hem of her gown. "I know this is your wedding dress, so I wanted to ask for your opinion. Can you give this wedding dress to me?"

Hearing this, I only found it ridiculous.

I looked straight into Julia's eyes, and she did not flinch.

I knew exactly what she meant by those words.

She didn't just want this wedding dress Martin had custom-made for me, but rather, my position as donna.

Martin did not give me a chance to speak. He reached out directly and pulled Julia over. "Of course you can. Anna only wore this wedding dress once for our wedding. It'll be a waste to leave it sitting there.

"Besides, Anna is very kind and will definitely fulfill your wish. Right, Anna?"

Martin spoke with absolute certainty, leaving me zero opportunity to back out.

I smiled faintly, reached out, and helped Julia adjust her bridal veil.

Lowering my head, I saw that the hem of the dress was clearly a bit too long for Julia.

"Martin is right.

"I heard your wedding is set for the first of next month. I will be there. I will even prepare a surprise for you both."

Julia still wanted to provoke me. "But if you come, what will people say?"

I smiled, completely unbothered. "That's their opinion. I trust Martin and you completely.

"Besides, attending Martin's wedding as a guest is a first-time experience for me. I don't want to miss it."

Julia was left speechless.

I lowered my head to continue adjusting the veil for Julia when I suddenly noticed my English initials on the veil.

A.

Hardening my heart, I pulled the veil straight off.

Julia was caught completely off guard.

She let out a cry of pain and immediately retreated to Martin's side, looking at me with a pitiful expression. "Anna, what are you doing? This wedding dress and veil are already out of print. By taking away the veil, you've ruined the entire look of this wedding dress."

Seeing that I hadn't reacted, she continued to act aggrieved. "If you didn't want to give this wedding dress to me, you could have just said so. Why did you have to humiliate me like this?"

Hearing this, Martin's face darkened completely as well.

He protected Julia in his arms as if she were a precious treasure, accusing me, "Anna, what are you doing? This is just a birthday wish of Julia's, and you can't even tolerate it?

"We, the Clark family, do not need a petty and vicious donna like you!"

Seeing that I remained silent, he let out another sigh, speaking as if he were granting a grand favor.

"Forget it. Seeing that this is your first time, I will temporarily let you keep your position as donna.

"However, a major punishment is still necessary. The weapons deal your family was purchasing from us is hereby canceled.

"You are also on house arrest. Stay home and reflect."

After he finished speaking, his subordinates stepped forward to drag me away.

While on the road, my ringtone for notifications suddenly beeped.

Opening it, a notification explicitly showed that a progress bar had reached one hundred percent.

Looking at the veil in my hand, I opened the window directly and threw it out.

Martin thought I was far too naive.

However, I couldn't care about his threat at all.

Don Clark's final three chances had already been completely used up.

In the current Clark family, he was no longer the one who called the shots.

As for me, I would make Martin pay the price for his repeated betrayals.

Just like this upcoming wedding.

I would absolutely prepare a massive surprise for Martin and Julia.

A surprise that would leave every single person present utterly speechless.

I hung up the phone, took a manila envelope out of my drawer, and handed it to Ricky."Make two copies of these materials. Send one copy to the Joint Council of the families and send the other to the overseas family Martin is partnering with. Let them figure out what to do themselves."Also, activate the transport lines we acquired previously. Divert our cash flow and personnel over there. If he wants to fight, I will play along to the very end."Over the next three days, the entirety of Sicilana watched this farce unfold. The overseas capital Martin relied on evaporated overnight. The moment I handed over the money laundering evidence, that family withdrew their funds without even giving him a courtesy notice. The money he had smashed into the transport lines was directly trapped by my double cash flow, leaving him with an absolute, crushing loss.Even more devastating was that the Joint Council received the materials I provided. It proved Martin had colluded with an oversea

The family dons below the stage finally snapped out of their shock, and whispers filled the space."Martin actually signed that kind of agreement and still dared to bring women home? Did he have a death wish?""Miss Winters went all out. She completely pulled the rug out from under him, leaving him without a single blade.""He deserves it, parading his mistresses right in front of his wife. Look at him now. Left with absolutely nothing and saddled with a billion dollars in debt.""I really want to see how he intends to pay that back. The docks are gone, the shipping lines are gone, and he can't even afford to change the locks on the estate doors."Standing on the stage, I looked down at Martin."Martin, you brought all of this entirely upon yourself. Everything I have taken today is simply what rightfully belonged to me from the start."Martin’s face twisted with rage. His finger pointed aggressively at me as his voice shrieked so high it broke. "You are insane! A woman like y

"You b*st*rd!"Martin’s hand gripping the phone shook violently, his knuckles turning white from the sheer force of his grip."Ricky, listen to me very clearly. I'm Martin Clark! The head of the Clark Group! You dare play this kind of game with me?!""Mr. Clark, please watch your tone." The voice on the other end of the line was as cold as someone reading an obituary. "We take orders from Donna Winters now."With that, Ricky hung up the phone.Martin froze. This was the first time Ricky had ever been audacious enough to hang up on him, and he did it right in front of all these people!Martin refused to believe any of it.He frantically dialed a second number, then a third. The bank, the docks, the family finance office.Every single time the speakerphone turned on, the answer given was almost identical: they only listened to me."Mr. Clark, your accounts have been frozen.""Mr. Clark, the ownership of the dock warehouses was changed this morning.""Mr. Clark, the funds for

Julia, seeing that I wasn't buying her act, shifted her gaze and began crying even more pitifully. "Everyone here has no idea. Although Anna is magnanimous on the surface, claiming out loud that she wants to fulfill my birthday wish, in private..."She pointed at a distinct repair mark on the hem of the wedding dress, her entire body trembling as she sobbed, "A few days ago, she stormed into the bridal shop and ripped my veil to shreds with her own hands! This was a birthday gift that Don Clark personally prepared for me!"She acts one way to your face and another behind your back. Now she's bringing out these fake documents to ruin the party. She's completely insane!"Below the stage, people from several families exchanged glances. Some frowned, while others shook their heads."Ripping a veil? That's just tacky.""The daughter raised by the Winters family only has this much tolerance?""Her previous magnanimity turns out to have been entirely faked."I let out a soft laugh.

The dead silence in the entire hall lasted for a full five seconds.Martin stared at the numbers on the screen, his expression shifting from shock into a near-absurd level of certainty. Suddenly, he let out a laugh."Anna, be good. Don't cause a scene here."He reached out to pull my hand, his tone carrying a hint of blame, yet sounding as if he were coaxing an ignorant child. "I know you're feeling upset inside. You wanted to use this method to embarrass me and make a point in front of these families. It was a good act, but that's enough."He even turned around to explain to the guests below the stage, "Apologies, everyone. My wife is just playing a joke on me. She’s been throwing a bit of a tantrum lately. Please don't take it seriously."I took a step backward, completely avoiding his hand.Picking up the microphone once again, I spoke piercingly clear without shouting, "Everyone, allow me to introduce things properly. As of this morning, the very last asset under Martin's

The wedding was held at the estate. When the invitations went out, it was merely described as a way to fulfill one of Julia's dreams. However, the guest list was incredibly extensive, and nearly every single don in Sicilana attended. The scale of this event was even grander than our actual wedding back then.I didn't care what those people were thinking when they showed up, but before I even arrived at the venue, the banquet hall was already packed to maximum capacity.I sat there quietly, wearing a simple white dress. The guests passing by couldn't help but gossip when they saw me."Oh my god, Anna, the actual donna, showed up.""How can she just sit there so calmly? Isn't she worried about Julia stealing her husband?""Didn't they say this was all just an act?""Just an act? Today is way more extravagant than when Anna married into the family.""Forget it, stop talking. It won't be good if she overhears us."I took a sip of the coffee on my table, acting as if I hadn't hea
