Around 10 a.m. the next morning, Lloyd awoke to the beautiful sight of his wife still sleeping. Silently, he arose from bed, threw on a set of clothing and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast in bed for his bride. Taking the pancakes, fruit, bacon, eggs and a cup of coffee, he placed everything on the tray and entered their bedroom. "Ummm, morning my husband," she greeted him with a smile as he entered the bedroom. The smell of the rich aromas had awoken her. "Good morning my angel, how did you sleep?" he asked, grinning, after their previous nights' escapades. "Like a baby," she responded, as she received the beautifully prepared tray of delicious foods placed before her. "You made all this for me?""I did," he smiled, placing a kiss on her lips, "come, eat up, we are heading for Liverpool shortly," his smile hiding the secret surprise he had waiting for her.As they finished their sumptuous breakfast, Meghan headed for the bathroom to get ready, while Lloyd finished packing
Now that the children had all grown up and all but Morgan were on their own. It felt like almost empty nest syndrome in the home of the Hemmingways. Morgan had opted to go stay in the cottage with Marshall and Danielle and Emilla for the night. Giving their mom and dad a break. Tamara, Frederick and the twins had moved back to her parent's place, since Chris had been diagnosed with stage five dementia. "Finally some alone time," Bradford said as he pulled his wife into his arms, after getting home from the reception."Babe, this is Morgans last year at school next year. What plans do we have for him?" she asked."I was thinking of getting him to learn the ropes under Frederick's guidance. Then you and I take off for a well-deserved holiday. It's time we thought about our retirement," he broached the topic."I agree, maybe not totally, but yes, definitely just only a tad hands on," she agreed affirmatively with her husband. "But here's the thing, something I never told you before.
As the reception lingered into the late hours, Bradford caught Lloyd’s eye. He could read the young man like a book.“It’s alright,” Bradford said with a nod. “Take your wife home. The party will go on.”Lloyd hesitated for a moment, surprised. “Dad?”Bradford’s smirk was slow and knowing. “On my wedding night, all I wanted was to get your mother alone. Go. Enjoy your wife.”It was already close to midnight. Meghan and Lloyd bid their goodbyes and slipped into the waiting limo.“Where to, Master Carlton?” the driver asked with a professional nod.“Home, Thomas,” Lloyd answered without hesitation, his voice low. “Take us home.”They were set to fly out the next day for their honeymoon, but tonight was for them—alone in their own house, in their own bed, for the first time as husband and wife.Lloyd had taken care of every detail—redecorating the master bedroom, moving Meghan’s things in, and asking Nancy to prepare the suite with rose petals, silk sheets, scented candles, and a bottle
The next morning Meghan was discharged."I can't wait to leave this place," Meghan cried as she arrived back at the house with Lloyd. Everyone was glad that she had not been severely harmed. Camilla held her daughter in her arms. "Mom how did you all find me?" she asked. "Remember that tracking system I had in place when you were all still younger? Well, I never got around to cancelling the subscription and thank goodness otherwise I don't think we would have known where to start," Camilla said, her voice soothing like honey."Come, everything is loaded. We can ride now," Bradford said. Meghan got into the car with Lloyd. The rest rode ahead. Before they began the trip back to Macclesfield, Lloyd put his arms around her. "I'm so happy that you are okay. When you didn't come back, I began to panic, my whole world felt like it was crashing down on me. I don't know what I would have done if that moron had done anything to you sexually. I promise to protect you more.""It's not your
"If you think you are going to get away with this and make me suffer, you are clearly mistaken!" Meghan screamed as she was being dragged and pulled into the car. The streets were destitute, not a person in sight. "Shut the skank up!" the female voice shouted. They had managed to blindfold Meghan after pulling her around the other corner which was opposite the park. "Wait, that female voice, it sounds familiar!" Meghan thought as she struggled to break free. Her headaches were coming back again."Shut up!" the male voice said. "Wait, isn't that Kevin's voice?" She questioned in her mind. Her head was reeling from all the pushing and pulling they were doing. "Kevin, if you think my parents, my brothers, my cousins and my aunt as well as Lloyd and his family won't come looking for me, you're gravely mistaken. They will hunt you down like a roaring lion waiting to devour their prey!" She mustered up enough courage to bite back at him with her icy cold voice and deathly soft tone
A tribute to my dad and all other dementia suffers out there - Our hearts are broken seeing you all suffer this way. To all those who have a family member that has suffered from the disease, this is for you. To my mom, the rock in our family. We lost our dad and husband to this debilitating disease. The graduation date had fast approached. The Carltons, Hemmingways and Jones family had all gathered the night before the ceremony at Lloyd's place. Due to the large family, they booked into the hotel. An unsteady and worrisome look formed on Camilla's face as she noted a large change in her uncle. "Aunty, have you taken uncle to see the doctor?" she asked."No honey, it's just us getting on in age. Don't worry about anything," she said, reassuring her niece. James overheard her conversation with his mother. Approaching his cousin, he said, "dad's gotten more aggressive of late. He thinks mom is another lady."Marshall and Danielle overheard the conversation between the two cousins.
