Chapter 34

I wake up nervous because it's the day we announce the pregnancy to the media. Ace places his hand over my small but noticeable bump.

'How did you and the little one sleep?'

'We slept well. I'm nervous about the announcement.'

'No need to be nervous,' he says, kissing my forehead.

We stretch our arms out and hop out of bed.

Yawning, I walk like a zombie into my wardrobe and find black slacks and a loose-fitting blouse to wear. It's the perfect outfit as it hides my baby bump. I put my long coat on and leave the buttons undone so it doesn't emphasise my bump.

Hobbling downstairs to the kitchen, I make us our favourite breakfast; pancakes. And they smell so good. I stack three pancakes on top of each other and slide the plate across the bench to Ace.

‘The pancakes improve each time you make them.’ He winks. I shake my head and give him a look, and stack six pancakes on my plate. I slide my plate next to his, grab the cutlery from the drawer, and sit next to him. I pass him a knife and f
