Fall in Love With You(1)

Author:Shi Er Hua

My boyfriend and I started from scratch and we had been in love for ten years.

However, he told me that he wanted to marry his first love.

1

Outside, the torrential rain had stopped. Yet, my boyfriend, Baron Doyle, hadn't replied to my message.

Jim Carroll, the assistant of the company, secretly told me that Baron had bought a pair of DR diamond rings and that he was busy decorating the proposal scene in the past two days.

"It's raining cats and dogs today. He is supposed to come home first!"

I sat in front of the dressing table and toweled my wet hair. Although I was complaining, I couldn't suppress the sweetness in my heart when I thought that Baron would propose to me after he came back.

We had been in love for ten years, and this unromantic man was finally somewhat enlightened.

When I was lost in thought, my phone on the table kept buzzing. I turned it on and saw my colleagues congratulating me in the company chat group.

Did the news filter through?

Why did they congratulate me before Baron proposed to me?

I patiently scrolled up to the top message and saw a photo Baron posted three minutes ago.

On the top of the big palm was a small fair hand with a diamond ring, and the fingers were slender and graceful.

But that was not my hand.

"I didn't know that your hands were so beautiful!" Jim was so naïve that he sent a voice message.

My hands trembled and I tried my best to keep my voice from trembling. [This hand is so beautiful, but it's not my hand.]

The people in the group stopped sending messages abruptly.

After a long time, Baron sent me a message privately.

[Shirley, don't be angry. The photo was accidentally posted in the company's group chat by Melissa.]

Staring at the words "don't be angry", I turned cold and angry, and my whole body trembled uncontrollably.

Melissa Hart... was Baron's childhood sweetheart.

Before, she disliked Baron because his family was poor. After she dumped Baron, she went abroad to study piano.

It turned out that Baron was going to propose to her!

Before I regained my senses, Baron sent me a voice message with a melodious piano sound.

[Shirley, let's break up. I want to marry Melissa.]

2

I had been with Baron for ten years. To be honest, I was somehow afraid of Melissa.

I was afraid when Baron went abroad for a meeting and I received the message about ordering flowers on my cell phone. I was afraid when Baron went to the piano solo with me on our anniversary.

Yet, I thought I was the one who accompanied him through hardships and difficulties. Without a doubt, I would be the one who finally took his proposal ring.

It turned out that I was totally wrong.

And I couldn't make the same mistake again.

Did he want to marry Melissa?

I wouldn't let him get what he wanted.

We had been together for ten years. Compared to Baron breaking up with me, the high-profile announcement of Melissa in the company's group chat made me more resentful.

Of course, I wanted to love and be loved. Without love, money was also a good option.

Back then, the company was registered by me according to the investment amount, and this house was also under my name. After the notarization, only the side bedroom and the bathroom belonged to Baron.

If Melissa, who left Baron because his family was poor, knew that he was still so poor after ten years, would she still marry him?

It was a silent night. On the second day, I met the refreshed Baron at the door of my office.

He was wearing a shirt I hadn't seen and a tie of unique color. After a long time, he finally opened his mouth. "Shirley..."

I sneered in my heart.

It's no wonder Baron couldn't get over Melissa for so many years; it seemed that Melissa was really something.

"Mr. Doyle, don't call me so intimately. You'd better call me Ms. Mcclure. I'm here to divide the property!" I managed to keep my head clear and smiled charmingly.

Baron was speechless for a moment, but he still corrected himself. "Ms. Mcclure, it's not easy for our company to get the financing. It's not appropriate to divide the property at this time."

"There is nothing inappropriate. If we do it after we get the next round of investment, it will be so much trouble," I said firmly. There was no room for maneuver.

3

I burned the midnight oil last night to prepare the property division contract, and the content was detailed.

Baron held the contract tightly and couldn't utter a word. At last, he tried to persuade me in the name of love with a livid face. "Shirley, we started from scratch and you established the company together with me. How can you bear to destroy it in your own hands now?"

"Baron, you should know that it was you who ruined this company, not me."

I glanced at him coldly as if I was discussing cooperation with an unmatched rival.

Of course, I wouldn't cooperate with Baron from now on.

I would try my best to target him until he left this industry.

Although I had completed the property division, I still needed to hand over my work.

The meeting room was crowded with people. Somehow, everyone knew that I was leaving, and they were reluctant to say goodbye to me.

All the business of the company was finished by me and my team one night after another. Compared with Baron, I had more influence in this company.

They probably wanted to persuade me to stay. But before they could say anything, Jim, who had broken in, interrupted them, "Ms. Mcclure..."

"Shirley! Come out!"

It was Melissa. I didn't come to her, but she had the guts to make a fuss here.

"You go out first..."

"Why do you ask them to go out? Let's get to know each other. From now on, I'm your boss's wife. My name is Melissa Hart."

Melissa looked as pound as a peacock, and her gaze roamed over me.

"Forcible love can't make you happy. Shirley, why do you have to divide the property? It is so disgusting!"

It sounded like it was all my fault.

"Melissa, Baron and I have been together for so many years. Even if I know your existence, I have never looked for you. Do you know why?" I raised my eyebrows at her, with my hands casually crossed over my chest.

Perhaps Melissa was irritated by my gaze, she said in a shrill voice, "You are afraid of me..."

"It's because I don't take you seriously."

I sneered. I didn't care that Baron always kept his first love in his heart at that time, and now I had enough money not to be afraid that he would leave me.

"Even if you don't take me seriously, he is still with me in the end," said Melissa with a proud smile.

"Yes. I should thank you for getting him away from me!"

I said as if I suddenly realized something, "What's more, I didn't expect that after ten years, the price you charge hasn't increased much..."

"What do you mean?" Melissa's face darkened.

"Ten years ago, Baron had enough money to buy you a toilet, and ten years later, he can buy you one more bedroom. To be honest, you haven't made any progress in the past ten years."

With that, after glancing at Melissa's sullen face, I left without looking back.

I felt great.

Yet, it was just the beginning!

It was good for me to break up.

For example, Baron's company failed to raise funds on the second day, and I became wealthy all of a sudden.

My best friend, Vanessa Elliott, asked me out for a drink to celebrate that I broke up with Baron.

Vanessa appeared in a low-cut dress, attracting the attention of all the men in the bar.

Of course, there would be some people who were not sensible and had to make a fool of themselves.

"Hey, are there only two of you? It's a waste to occupy a booth. Do you mind sharing the table with us?"

Vanessa didn't like this kind of man who struck up conversations. "Get out of here. Don't make a fool of yourself."

Vanessa was shrewish, and the man was a rascal. They were about to fight.

I frowned. Just as I was about to step forward, a tall figure suddenly appeared and directly stopped one of the men who were about to fight us.

"Hey! Are you bullying them?"

It was Jaiden Cooper!

Jaiden was still a frivolous playboy. He was arrogant by reason of his handsome face and superior family background.

But I was a little stunned by his sudden appearance.

Perhaps the two troublemakers could tell that Jaiden was not to be trifled with, they cursed and left reluctantly.

Vanessa glanced at Jaiden and said, "Thank you."

With a faint smile on his lips, Jaiden glanced at me and waved to the waiter. "Please give me a cup of hot cappuccino."

The hot cappuccino was my preference.

I hadn't drunk cold drinks since I was a child. But Baron preferred iced Americano when I was with him, so I gradually gave up hot cappuccinos.

It was good to get rid of bad habits, but who would come to the bar to order a cup of hot cappuccino?

Vanessa burst into laughter and put her arms around my neck. "Looks like he is your cup of tea."

Words failed me.

I was amused.

I didn't think so.

Jaiden, Baron's rival for years, lost to me in a bidding held three years ago.

It was said that he had gone abroad for further studies since then. I didn't expect to meet him here today.

It was hard to tell whether he was my enemy or friend.

Jaiden sat down and stared at me with his charming eyes. "Shirley, I haven't seen you for ages!"

"It's been a long time." I nodded awkwardly and sobered up a lot.

Surprised that Jaiden knew me, Vanessa sat in the booth with a glass of wine silently as if she was watching a good show.

The waiter brought the hot cappuccino over. I wondered where he got it.

"Shirley, I heard that you resigned from the company?" asked Jaiden directly.

I took a sip of the cappuccino and was about to thank him, but I bit back the words. "Yes."

"Are you interested in coming to my company?"

Hearing this, I didn't know what to say.

It seemed that Jaiden treated me as his friend.

I took a look at Jaiden and wondered if he wanted to take advantage of me to defeat Baron.

I was deeply impressed when I competed with Jaiden three years ago.

If it weren't for my participation and turning the tide, Baron would have lost.

Everyone thought that Jaiden was a rich playboy, but I knew that this young man was unfathomable.

I liked to cooperate with such a person, and I had no reason to refuse him. However, I needed to calm down before giving him the answer.

"Excuse me. I have to go to the bathroom."

5

As expected, when I came out of the bathroom, Jaiden leaned against the wall and looked at me lazily.

"Shirley, I am waiting for you to be my partner."

Partner.

I admitted that I was tempted.

I wouldn't lose anything if I could cooperate with the famous Cooper Group.

"She won't be your partner." Before I could answer, a familiar voice behind me broke the silence.

They were Baron and Melissa.

Now that the company's financing had been ruined, they were still in the mood to enjoy themselves in the bar. It seemed that Melissa really came back to destroy Baron.

Before we could speak, Baron continued with a confident look on his face, "Shirley has always been cooperating with strong people. You were defeated by me four years ago, so she naturally wouldn't accept your offer."

I sneered in my heart.

Baron was so arrogant.

"Baron, we have broken up. Besides, Jaiden was not defeated by you," I said in a low voice, but my eyes were cold.

The music outside was deafening, but the space in front of us seemed to be silent.

Baron probably didn't expect that I would embarrass him like this. "Shirley..."

Melissa tried to save Baron's dignity and said sarcastically, "Shirley, even though Baron dumped you, you can't abandon yourself, right?"

I narrowed my eyes, but before I could say anything, Jaiden said in a sarcastic tone, "Did Baron find a woman like you after breaking up with Shirley? Baron, there must be something wrong with your eyes."

Jaiden was so eloquent that he made Melissa's face turn livid easily.

Jaiden wanted to say something more but was stopped by me. "Cut it out! You don't have to talk nonsense with bastards!"

It was between me and them. There was no need to get Jaiden involved.

"Baron, it has nothing to do with you who I am working with and which company I am going to work with. If you see me from a distance in the future, please turn around and leave. Besides, watch your manners."

After saying that, I cast a cold glance at Baron. Then I grabbed Jaiden's wrist and left.

I finally got rid of the annoying Baron.

However, Jaiden attached himself to me and I couldn't get rid of him.

He followed me all the way home and even thoughtfully arranged a driver to send my best friend home.

"Jaiden, I'm home."

Obviously, I wanted him to leave.

As if he didn't hear me, Jaiden took out a contract and handed it to me. "This is a new company. As long as you sign the contract, you will be a shareholder."

What?

It seemed that he had been well prepared.

I took a look at his company's name and suddenly thought of something. "The coastal project?"

"This is Baron's company's key bidding project." I looked into Jaiden's eyes, hoping to find his intention.

"Really? What a coincidence!" Jaiden laughed. He looked handsome and harmless, but I sensed a hint of conspiracy.

However, the chance to defeat Baron had come to me, and I really had no reason to refuse.
