Brielle stood frozen in place, Ethan's last words echoing in her head like a blow to the chest.

"We won't be announcing the divorce anymore. I've changed my mind."

She barely processed the sound of the door shutting behind him. Her pulse thundered in her ears, drowning out everything but the fury boiling inside her. It took less than three seconds for her feet to move, charging toward the hallway like a storm barely contained.

"Ethan!" she screamed, her voice raw.

He kept walking, hands in his pockets, shoulders stiff. He didn't even look back.

"Ethan, stop right there!"

Still nothing.

He reached the guest room and placed his hand on the doorknob.

"I swear to God, if you close that door..." Brielle shoved it open before he could, forcing herself inside before it slammed in her face.

She was trembling with anger. Her fists clenched at her sides. Her voice wasn't loud anymore, now it was heavy. Weighted with rage, betrayal, and a thousand broken and shattered expectations.
