Finally Unshackled

"Ava now!" yelped Virin, that was all I needed to sprint towards the van, where Kyra and Priti were waiting."Run! run faster", screamed Priti, hitting the steering wheel anxiously. I was choking on my bile, from the fear of getting caught. My lungs and legs are ready to give up from anxiety.

I cannot stop now when my freedom is this close! The blue van which is going to take me away from this dreadful monster is just ten steps away. Ten, nine, eight, "Ava," he shouted sending tremors through my body. "If you don't stop right now, I'll kill every person who keeps you away from me". That made me freeze on the spot because I know he could do that.

"Not now Ava! run", came Virin from the right, and started dragging me into the van. Once inside the van, I turned to look out and saw him breathing heavily with a dangerous glint in his eyes piercing right through mine. I cringed, watching him point his forefinger at me. "YOU ARE MINE," he yelled, now pointing the forefinger at his chest. Over my dead body!

"Whatever he did, I am going to kill that bastard!", said Virin with tears glistening his eyes. I tried to control myself and look brave for my friends but, my brain was stuck on the threat he made to kill them.

"Here have some water", Priti passed a bottle and I cried out looking at them. I finally let out the pain that's been killing me.

"I never knew he would stoop this low", said Kyra glancing nervously at the bruises on my hand. That's what hurts more, the betrayal.
