Chapter 8 (Part 1)

“What the fuck are you saying, Kevin?”

I know damn well that I heard every word that slipped out of his lips. But I want him to repeat everything all over again for my system to start accepting and analyzing it.

“Bryce Tryst had once again successfully ambushed you, Aurella.”

There. There it is. He said it straight to the point, and it feels like a strong slap on both of my cheeks. Strong enough to leave a red mark in the shape of a hand.

“Ambushed me? Kevin, you must be kidding me. There's no way that Bryce did it again, and once again so effortlessly.”

My eyebrows arch as my eyes dart into his. If Bryce is releasing a collection of engagement rings, then someone in this building or someone who works for me has betrayed me.

“Aurella, I understand. And we both know that this is not the first time that something like this had happened.”

I roll my eyes at him, “Well, clearly, someone betrayed me again. Stabbed me in the back and twisted the knife with no hesitations at all.”
