Chapter 5

Adira’s POV

Cold water hits my face like an iceberg, and I quickly open my eyes to see that I am surrounded by a group of men I have never seen before. Realizing I am naked, I sit up and pull my legs into me as they all stare at me and I look around at their faces not recognizing any of them. That’s when I began to try and see my surroundings as my head felt foggy.

“Who are you? And what are you doing on our lands?” A tall man says to me as he looks down at me. I went to answer him, but nothing came out of my mouth because I didn’t know the answers to what he seeks. “Answer me little wolf.” The man now says to me and I tilt my head to the side to his reference little wolf.

“Maybe she is a mute.” One of the other men say to the man that just asked me the questions.

“Or maybe her pack threw her out of their pack, and she is a rogue.” Another man said to the tall man.

“Hush! She doesn’t smell like a rogue.” The tall man said back to the man that had called me a rogue.

His attention then turned back to me and he asks, “Can you hear me?” I shake my head yes to the man wanting him to know that I can hear him, but words still don’t come from my lips.

“Can you speak?” The man now asks, and I shake my head yes again.

“Do you know your name, little wolf?” The man now asks me but when I go to say my name, I realize that I can’t remember anything from before they woke me. The word “no” finally comes from my lips and the sound of my voice even sounds foreign to me.

The man then removes his shirt and leans down to hand it to me and says, “Put this on. I have to take you back to our Alpha.”

Taking the shirt from the man, I quickly slide it over my head, grateful for it to cover my naked body. He then extended his hand to me and I hesitated for a minute. Looking at him I notice the softness now in his eyes. Finally, I extended my own hand to him, taking his into mine and he slowly helps me stand.

When I got to my feet, I felt slightly off balanced and was about to fall over, but the man reached for me and wrapped his arms around me not allowing me to fall. Instantly, I froze at the proximity of our bodies and couldn’t help but look into his eyes. There was kindness behind those eyes and I felt myself wanting to trust the man that now held me in his arms.

We stared into each other’s eyes for a few seconds, before he helped me upright and asked, “Are you okay now?”

Swallowing hard, I got my balance and said, “Yes, thank you.”

The men around us began to single file in the same direction, leaving me with the man that had helped me. “Then let’s get you to my Alpha.” He said as he made sure to walk beside me as we made our way to his Alpha.

Along the walk, I noticed his eyes on me a few times and I turned my head to look at him, but he quickly turned away from me. Finally, he asks, “So you don’t remember who you are? Or how you got here?”

I began to dig deep into my mind trying to find the answers that he seeks, but instead I was faced with a brick wall of nothing and my head began to hurt. I reached my hand to my head wanting the pain in it to stop, as I said, “I can’t remember anything. I’m sorry.”

With a concerned look on his face, he says, “It’s okay, don’t push yourself. I am sure it will eventually come back to you.”

His kindness touched something inside of me, that I felt like I wasn’t used to, and I felt the need to thank him. “Thank you for understanding.” I told him right before we walked out of the forest into a clearing.

My eyes lit up when I took in the training area and the men and women, dueling one another, bringing me to a halt as I watched them. Something about watching them duel brought me joy, but I couldn’t understand why. As I stood there watching them the man says, “This is our training area. Both men and women learn the art of fighting here. I am sure this looks off to you, since we are the only pack that allows our she wolves to train.”

Something about seeing the women train made my wolf inside of me stir and I felt myself being drawn even more to the sight in front of me. Just then I heard someone yell, “Blaze, where have you been?”

Turning to see who was coming our way, I took a step back seeing the man that was approaching us. He was only dressed in a pair of gym shorts and was tall with dark skin tone. His chest looked like it was carved from marble and his arms had to be the largest I had ever seen. My heart skipped a beat when our eyes met, and I felt the breath within me escape my lungs.

“Sorry Alpha Liam. We found this she wolf in the woods during our warm up run.” Blaze said as he turned to look at me and I looked at him for a moment and then back at Alpha Liam who I could see was confused by my appearance on his pack lands.

“What are you doing on my lands?” Alpha Liam now asks me and I have no clue what to tell him.

Thankfully, Blaze says, “She has no memory.”

Alpha Liam tilts his head slightly to the side, before asking me, “Is this true?”

“Yes, Alpha. I’m sorry but I can’t remember anything from before I was woken up.” I tell him hoping that he believes me because it was the truth.

Alpha Liam stared at me for a minute as if he was trying to read me and then said, “Take her to the pack doctor to have her checked.”

“Yes, Alpha.” Blaze said and began to walk past Alpha Liam. I began to follow him, but when I passed Alpha Liam the scent of elderberry and pine filled my nose, awakening my wolf even more and my head turned back to see him standing stiff as a board.

“Come on, little wolf.” Blaze said, drawing my attention to him and away from Alpha Liam as I rushed to catch up to him wondering what just happened.
