Amalthea's POV
'You were poisoned' Clara's words rang in my head as I stared up at the infirmary ceiling. I still felt weak and zapped of strength and the only thing I could do was look around as any other movements caused me pain.Fear trickled within me as I realized I was really in danger here but who had poisoned me? Clara was the one who usually brought in my meals but could she possibly have…"Thea," Lux called out from within me."Lux, where have you been?" I asked hurriedly. Ever since I had woken up, I had tried to reach Lux but she had been dormant and unresponsive within me."I had to protect our child from the poison Thea and that drained my life force," she explained and tears stung the back of my eyes."She could have died Thea, I have a feeling that poison was specifically aimed to hurt her more than it was for you." Lux told me and I had to agree, the same thoughts had been running through my head all morning.Amalthea's POV I groaned as I slowly rose from the bed and clutched my abdomen. I stared in fear as blood trickled down my legs and I swallowed."I can't say for how much longer I can protect our baby," Lux told me and I could feel the power draining from me."You have to lux, you just have to." I pleaded with my wolf. Lux had been protecting the baby with our life force and a part of me could feel it draining her and I wondered how much longer she would be able to hold on."Thea?" Cal called out to me as I collapsed onto the bed.He rushed to my side and helped me to lay back down as he stared at me with worry."Are you alright?" He asked as his eyes followed the trail of blood."I'll call the doctor," he announced before he made his way out of the room and in a second he was back with the doctor trailing behind him."I'll have to ask you to wait outside Call," the woman called out to him and he hesitated for only a second before he complied and she turned to me.Are you alright?" T
Lyra's POV "I really hope Nic finds the herb," Callum muttered as he brushed his hair in front of the dresser and I rolled my eyes before I turned to him and planted a sob expression on my face."He will call, stop worrying." I approached him and placed my hands on his shoulders."Right now you have to focus on the pack, the pack needs you." I continued and he let out a deep sigh."I'm just scared, I don't know what I'll do if I lose Thea and more importantly, I don't know what Nic would do if he loses her." Call's eyes were far away and I gently caressed his face."We have to trust that Nic will find the herb alright? I've already shown the seer how she needs to mix the ingredients in the right proportion and the only thing she's waiting for is the herb." I told him and his eyes shifted to me."Thank you," he whispered as he planted a small kiss on my lips and I gave him a tight smile."For what?" I asked."For being here, for helping me through all this. For getting a solution even
Nicholson's POV "Take care of the pack while I'm gone, I should be back by tomorrow." I told Callum as I approached the front door and he nodded."Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" He asked and I sighed."It's just a herb, I think I can get that on my own Callum besides the pack needs you." I told him as I patted his shoulder with my hand."And more importantly, watch over Thea for me, Cal." I told him seriously as my eyes met with his and held."Don't let any of the werebears near her." I told him pointedly and his brows furrowed."And that includes your mate," I answered his silent question and his lips turned downwards."I don't want to start an argument with you Nic but I won't stand here and let you insult my mate." He growled and I took a step back."I don't want to argue with you either Call but I don't trust your mate, she's a werebear-" I began."Then why are you listening to her and going to get a herb you aren't even sure will cure Thea?" Call cut me off."
Nicholson's POV I helplessly stared down at Thea as she groaned in her sleep before her eyes slowly peered open. The door creaked open but I ignored it, whoever it was would go away when they were ready."Alpha?" Renee's voice pierced through my thoughts."What are you doing here? I thought I made it clear I want you nowhere near my mate." I growled and she held her hand up in surrender as she took a seat just beside the door."I don't mean any harm, I want to help you." She told me and my eyes narrowed in suspicion."Why do you want to help me?" I questioned and Renee sighed."This isn't just about you, Callum cares about Thea as well and I hate seeing him so worried. Last night I imagined how I would have felt had it been Callum on that bed and I can only imagine the heart wretching pain you must be going through right now." She told me as her peculiar silver eyes flashed as she spoke to me."That's why I want to help, because no one deserves to see their mate going through any of
Nicholson's POV "Nic," a small voice coupled with a nudge on my arm roused me into consciousness and my eyes slowly blinked open."Nic," the same small voice croaked and my head turned sharply to stare at Thea who was peering at me with drowsing eyes."Are you alright?" I asked frantically as I sat up straight and assessed her."Nic, something is wrong." She called out to me and I mindlinked the pack doctor to come to my room before I focused my attention back on Thea."What's wrong?" I asked as I looked her over but apart from the tiredness written all over her face, she seemed perfectly fine to me."The baby," she muttered and my heart hammered in my chest as my eyes darted down to the little bulge in her abdomen."What's wrong with the baby?" I managed to ask as fear clawed within me."I can feel the baby slipping away, Nic, the baby's dying." Thea cried out as tears ran down the sides of her face as she clutched her stomach and my wolf howled within me."Thea the pack doctor is o
Nicholson's POV I gently placed Thea onto my bed as my heart beat loudly in my chest and I brushed away a stray strand of hair out of her face. The pack doctor burst into his room and I moved away to give him all the space he needed.I watched anxiously as he examined Thea and the longer he remained silent and pulled out more equipment the more my worry grew."What's wrong with her?" I asked the second he turned to face me with a long expression on his face."Alpha..." The man hesitantly began."Just spit it out already," I growled as my heart threatened to fly out of my chest."I can't seem to find what's wrong-" he began."What do you mean you can't find what's wrong? You are a skilled doctor," I interrupted him and he gulped as he took a step back."I suspected a poison at first but I can't be sure, her body simply seems to be in a state of stillness," the man explained."What does that mean?" I questioned."I'm not exactly sure al-""Then what exactly are you sure about?" I gritt
