I scoffed, "And I'll be a fool to believe that." I rolled my eyes, now crossing my arms.

"I mean it, Arielle." A defeated sigh left his lips. "I know it was stupid of me to ghost you for the past week, but I just," He sighed again, brushing his hair back in frustration. "I just couldn't." His voice broke slightly and I felt my chest ache.

Instinctively, I tilted my head to to see his expression and it broke me immediately I saw his ocean blue eyes slowly clouding with moisture.

At that split moment, various thoughts crowded my head. Should I believe him? Is he saying the truth? Hug him. Pull him closer. Tell him it's fine. Tell him you're not actually mad. Tell him you missed him just as much.
