Chapter 4

Darren paced back and forth in his room, frustration and anger coursing through his veins. The news he had just received from his father left him in shock. He couldn't believe what he had heard. That girl is coming to live in their pack. Darren's mind raced with conflicting emotions. The thought of having her so close, disrupting his life, infuriated him.

"Why does she have to live here?" Darren muttered to himself, his voice laced with annoyance. He threw himself onto the sofa and reached for a beer, desperately needing something to cool down his boiling emotions. Darren had made a name for himself as a rebellious and selfish individual, caring only for his pleasure and disregarding the consequences of his actions. He had built a reputation as the college party boy, charming his way into the hearts of countless girls and leaving broken hearts in his wake. But deep down, beneath his tough exterior, Darren felt a sense of emptiness and restlessness. He craved excitement and thrived on the chaos he created, but it never truly fulfilled him. He had become numb to the disapproval of others, dismissing it as a minor inconvenience in his pursuit of pleasure. As Darren sipped his beer, his mind drifted back to his past encounters with Kaira—the scar on her forehead serving as a constant reminder of the pain he had caused. He had bullied her relentlessly, taking pleasure in tormenting her and making her life a living hell. The guilt and regret were buried deep within him, though he rarely allowed himself to acknowledge them. Now, fate had brought them back together once again. The girl he had tormented in his youth, who had become a symbol of his past mistakes, was returning to the pack. And Darren knew that their paths were bound to cross. A mix of anxiety and curiosity gnawed at Darren's conscience. He wondered how Kaira had grown over the years, whether she still held a grudge against him. The thought of facing her again ignited a strange blend of fear and anticipation within him. "Why am I thinking about that stupid girl? I don't want her here and I will not go pick her up. I will try to stay away from her and avoid her, I don't want that tension in my life." Darren decided and he again picked up the controller and started playing the game. Two days later, Kaira packed her belongings and bid farewell to her father and the pack members. She felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as she embarked on her new journey in the city. The Packhouse in the city awaited her arrival, and she hoped to find a balance between her studies and her responsibilities to the pack. As Kaira stepped out of the airport, she took a deep breath, feeling the hustle and bustle of the city surrounding her. It was a stark contrast to the peacefulness of her pack territory. She was sure that Darren would never come to pick her up. So, she hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address of the pack house. During the drive, she gazed out of the window, observing the tall buildings and the busy streets, her mind filled with anticipation. Upon reaching the pack house, Kaira was welcomed by Luna Amelia, the wife of Alpha Farris. Luna Amelia was a warm and elegant woman who greeted Kaira with open arms. Kaira admired her strength and the way she effortlessly balanced her duties as a Luna and a mother. "Welcome, Kaira. We're delighted to have you here," Luna Amelia said, her voice filled with genuine warmth. "This Packhouse will be your home during your studies. We've prepared a room for you on the second floor." "Thank you, Luna Amelia. I'm grateful for your kindness," Kaira replied, feeling a sense of comfort in Luna Amelia's presence. Over the next few days, Kaira settled into her new routine. She attended her classes diligently and dedicated her free time to studying and exploring the city. The pack members at the house warmly welcomed her, and she soon formed friendships with some of the younger wolves. One afternoon, as Kaira was returning from her classes, she decided to take a different route back to the pack house. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice a figure approaching her until they collided, causing her books to scatter across the pavement. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" a voice exclaimed, filled with remorse. Kaira looked up to see a young man standing before her, his eyes widening as he took in her appearance. It was none other than Darren Dark, the bully of her pack and the son of Alpha Farris. "Darren," Kaira muttered, her voice tinged with annoyance. "Kaira... I didn't expect to run into you here," Darren said, a sheepish smile crossing his face as he helped her father with her books. "I try my best to avoid you, Darren. What are you doing here anyway?" Kaira asked, her tone laced with skepticism. Darren's expression turned serious as he looked into her eyes. He was not expecting such a blunt answer from her... He can see what's in her eyes for Darren. "Why did you come here?" He asked. "It's none of your business. And move away. I am getting late." She said and was going to walk past him when he grabbed her arm. She can feel the harsh grip on her flesh. Kaira stared into her face with disgust. "Did you forget what I had done with you in the past years... How dare you behave with me like this..." Darren said and looked at the scar on her forehead. But in the next minute, Darren was pushed away from her and now he could feel the bone-crushing grip of Kaira's hand on his hand. "I have not forgotten anything but believe me I am not the same girl from the past. If I want I can crush your jaw right here but I don't want Alpha to get mad at me. So beware, don't lose my patience ,and stay away from me." Kaira said and left his hand. And without stopping there for another moment. She left him there standing in a state of shock.
