61. The cabin in the woods

Devin parked his Jeep next to the edge of the dirt road that led to the cabin. He got out and stretched his long legs, feeling the fresh air and the scent of pine trees around him. He adjusted his gun holster and checked his phone for any new messages, but there was no signal. He sighed and wondered if he should have brought more backup, but he trusted Arystyn's instincts and his own skills.

He knocked on the door and waited, listening to the creaks and rustles inside. He heard a faint growl and tensed up, ready to draw his gun if needed. But then he recognized Arystyn's voice.

"It's me, Devin. Open up."

The door opened slowly, revealing Arystyn's face, which was smeared with dirt and sweat but still determined. She wore her leather jacket and jeans, and her hair was tied back in a messy bun. Her eyes lit up when she saw him.
