I never knew why his sweet words always melted me. Was it because I still loved him? Or because I was too stupid to see the lies behind his gentle eyes?

Derek held me tightly in front of the elevator, his hand rubbing my back gently, a touch I hadn't felt in a long time. His signature scent, the scent that made me fall in love at first sight at a small cafe in Paris 3 years ago.

"Forgive me. I was so stupid. I was stressed with work, with my father's pressure, with all the demands. Anita was just an escape. But you're my wife and the only one I love."

I fell silent. My fists, which had been clenched, slowly relaxed. Tears streamed down my cheeks, not tears of anger, but tears longing for sweet words I hadn't heard in so long.

"I saw you two. I saw her underwear on your desk," I said.

"I know and I'm ashamed but please..." he looked down, meeting my eyes with that pleading gaze that had always managed to melt my heart. "Give me one more chance. I promise I'll end everything with Anita. I'll be a good husband. We can start everything over from the beginning."

My heart pounded hard. Inside my head, a voice screamed: He's lying. He'll do it again. Don't trust him.

But deep in my chest, there was a weak part, the part that still loved him.

I nodded slowly. "One chance, but if you betray me again..."

"I won't," he cut in quickly. He kissed my forehead, a kiss that once felt warm, now felt like a bandage over a gaping wound. "I promise."

We went home to the mansion that night.

It actually belonged to Nathaniel, but since Derek's mother died ten years ago, Nathaniel asked us to live here.

"It's too big for me alone," he said back then. "You're still young and you deserve to fill this house with laughter and children."

I never gave him a grandchild. Derek always said he wasn't ready. Now I knew why, he was busy with Anita in his office.

The long black teak dining table could seat twenty people, but tonight there were only three of us: me, Derek, and Nathaniel at the opposite end.

Servants in black and white uniforms moved silently, serving truffle soup and wagyu steak.

Nathaniel looked at us in turn, his sharp grey eyes like an eagle watching its prey. He chewed his meat slowly, then set down his knife and fork perfectly.

"So," he said, his voice heavy and calm, "you two have made up?"

Derek smiled broadly, that handsome smile that once made me fall in love. He reached for my hand across the table, gripping it tightly.

"Yes, Father. We just had a small misunderstanding. Seraphina has been a bit paranoid lately."

I turned to Derek quickly. Paranoid?

Derek continued, "You know how Sera gets jealous for no reason. I've explained everything. Anita is just my work assistant, nothing more. But Sera..." he chuckled lightly, "she saw something that wasn't there. Maybe because she's been home too much and doesn't have enough to do."

I froze. My fingers, clasped in his, felt like they were trapped in chains.

"But everything's fine now," Derek said, kissing the back of my hand. "Sera understands now. She's going to quit working at the office and focus on home. Isn't that right, darling?"

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow. His eyes turned to me, waiting for an answer.

I swallowed hard. Under the table, my legs were trembling. I wanted to scream, "He's lying! I saw Anita's underwear! I saw them!"

But the words got stuck in my throat.

"Yes, we've made up," I said.

Derek smiled smugly. His hand squeezed my fingers too hard, like a hidden warning.

Nathaniel stared at me for a long moment. There was something in his eyes, disappointment?

"Good," Nathaniel finally said, raising his wine glass. "To your happiness."

I raised my glass with trembling hands. As the red wine touched my lips, it tasted bitter like bile.

After dinner, Derek was still being very sweet. He opened the bedroom door for me, lit lavender aromatherapy candles beside the bed, even massaged my back with essential oils. His touch was gentle, attentive like back when we were newlyweds.

"You know," he whispered in my ear, "I missed this. Missed you."

I closed my eyes, letting myself drown in the illusion. Maybe he was right, maybe I was too paranoid.

His hand crept to my waist, pulling me closer. His lips traced down my neck, warm, soft, full of desire.

"You're so beautiful. I never stopped loving you," he said.

I almost believed it.

But as his hand began to unbutton my shirt, his phone vibrated loudly on the nightstand. Derek groaned in annoyance, reaching for the phone. His eyes narrowed reading the screen.

"I have to go," he said suddenly, standing and straightening his shirt. "There's an urgent matter at the office. A problem with the financial reports."

I stared at him. My heartbeat was erratic. Urgent matter? At eleven at night?

"But?"

"Sorry, darling. This is important." He kissed my forehead quickly, then walked to the closet to grab his jacket. "You go to sleep. I'll be back as soon as I can."

The bedroom door closed. I heard his footsteps fading down the hallway.

I knew his lie. Earlier, when the screen lit up, I caught a glimpse of the name that appeared: Anita.

Tears fell, but this time I didn't cry. I just sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the door, feeling my own stupidity.

"Do you really want me to destroy you?" he whispered, his fingers tracing my collarbone gently, making me shiver.I nodded, unable to speak."Say it again. I want to hear it one more time," he commanded.I swallowed hard, my courage peaking."Break me, Daddy. Make me forget who I am. Make me forget Derek. Make me only remember your name."Nathaniel smiled. He leaned down, his lips touching my neck, biting it gently. I let out a small cry, a mix of pain and pleasure that made my head spin."You know, I've imagined this every night. You beneath me, begging for more, and now..." he bit harder, leaving a red mark on my neck, "...now you're really here."His muscular hand reached for my already open pajama top, pulling it slowly, releasing all the fabric from my body. The cold air touched my bare skin. I curled up, my instinct to cover myself, but Nathaniel wouldn't let me."Don't hide yourself," he said firmly, grabbing my hands and pinning them above my head. "I want to see everything."

I jolt at the sound of his voice. Nathaniel stands at the doorway, his body half naked, wearing only black trousers sitting low on his hips. His chest muscles are clearly visible under the dim bedroom light, his silver hair slightly disheveled."You..." I rise from the bed, my heart pounding. "You shouldn't be here. Derek could come back any time...""Derek is at the hotel with Anita. He won't be back until tomorrow afternoon. I made sure of it."I step back, my back hitting the wall. Nathaniel keeps advancing, his steps slow and confident, like a lion stalking its prey."Are you trying to avoid me again, darling?" he asks, his voice low and teasing. "You left last night. Today you watched Derek with Anita. When will you realize that you're mine?"I swallow hard, my body trembling. "Nathaniel...""Call me Daddy," he cuts in, now only inches away from me. His hand rises, touching my cheek gently. "I told you. Here, I'm not your father-in-law."I look down, not daring to meet his eyes.

I stand at the threshold of Nathaniel's room, my hand still trembling on the handle. My steps feel heavy, as if glued to the floor. Nathaniel stares at me from his bed, his white shirt open, his eyes dark with desire and power."Come on," he says softly, his voice low and tempting. "I'm waiting for you."I bite my lip. My chest rises and falls rapidly. This is wrong. This is so wrong. But isn't Derek guilty too? Isn't he the one who started all of this with Anita?I take one step into the room. But then I hear a sound the sound of a car engine starting outside.I stop, turning toward the window. Thick curtains block the view, but I can hear tires screeching on gravel, then the sound of a car driving away.I walk quickly to the window, pulling the curtain aside slightly. Below, in the mansion's front yard, I see Derek's car driving out of the main gate and turning onto the road.Derek is leaving again in the middle of the night."What's happening?" Nathaniel rises from the bed, walking

I stare at my phone screen, reading Nathaniel's message over and over. My heart pounds hard. 12 AM. Black dress. Don't disappoint me.Beside me, Derek is already fast asleep. His snoring is soft and steady, his hand lying on top of the blanket, never touching me. I stare at him in the darkness—that handsome face that once made me fall in love, now nothing but a mask of lies.I move slowly, rising from the bed carefully so I don't wake him. My feet touch the cold floor. I walk to the closet, grab the black dress, and put it on in silence. In the bathroom mirror, I stare at my reflection. The black dress hugs my body perfectly, accentuating the curves I've always hated. But tonight, I love it. Because tonight, this dress is my weapon.I step out of the room carefully, closing the door without a sound. The mansion corridor is dark, lit only by small lamps on the walls. My steps are quiet on the thick carpet. When I reach Nathaniel's door, I stop. My hand trembles over the handle.I knock

The screen on the wall lit up. I saw flashes of data, graphs, and numbers starting to appear. Derek's face turned pale. Anita bit her lip, her hands gripping the edge of the table tightly.Nathaniel was ready to press the next button, the button that would play all the evidence of Derek's embezzlement and affair in front of the entire board of directors. But under the table, my hand moved.I squeezed Nathaniel's thigh hard enough to get his attention, but not hard enough to be suspicious to others. Nathaniel turned to me, his eyebrows raised. I shook my head slowly, my eyes meeting his. Then I whispered, barely audible, only for his ears."Don't rush to destroy them. I want everything slow. Let them feel safe first, let them laugh. In the end, when they're happiest and feel like they've won, that's when we destroy them. It'll hurt more."Nathaniel stared at me for a long moment, then nodded slowly, and he pressed another button, the button that turned off the screen. The screen went d

Nathaniel stared at me for a long time."Because Derek is not my son," he said.I was shocked. "What?""Margaret was already pregnant with Derek from another man before I married her. I accepted it because I loved Margaret. But Derek, he was never my flesh and blood, and over the years, I watched him destroy everything I built, including you."I swallowed hard. This huge secret felt heavy between us."So you never really considered him your son?" I asked."I considered him my responsibility, but my love for him died when he started manipulating the finances in my company and also hurting you," he said.He moved closer again, this time I didn't step back. His warm palm touched my cheek, wiping away the remaining tears."You know, I've been watching you since the first day you came to this house. I saw the way you smiled even though your heart was broken. I saw the way you endured even though Derek treated you like dust, and I want to be the man who makes you happy."I stared at him. "T
