Sarah's POV
I almost froze at the loud sound of the growl, but I was not ready to die this way; especially not when I'm on my way to freedom. The growl grew louder and closer to us, Alex took a defensive stance and gently shoved me behind his back to protect me.“I can protect myself.” I snapped, stood by his side and also took a defensive stance.“This is someone dangerous, someone you should have never met. Not especially on your first day in this pack.” He said in a whisper while his eyes scanned the areas frantically.“Who is it?” I asked, but before he could give me a reply, the werewolf jumped behind me.Instantly, he shifted to his human form and grabbed me by the neck.“Let me go.” I yelled at him and struggled to free myself, but he was way stronger than me.“Long time no see, friend.” The man let out a menacing howl.“Let her go, Marcus.” Alex gritted his teeth while still maintaining his stance.“Oh! Is that how to greet an old friend?” He whined with a chuckle.“We were never friends, so let her go now!” He let out the loudest growl I've ever heard.“Fine!” Marcus raised his other free hand in surrender and pushed me to Alex.I was almost choking by this time, and my breathing had become faint and shakily.“What is it you want?”“I sensed the new presence and decided to welcome her to the Pack.”“I'm not part of this pack.” I snapped with rage.“Oh! Is that it?” A disappointed, yet happy look sat comfortably on his face.“Why don't you come join my pack then?” He added, and I looked at Alex.“What does he mean? Who is he and what does he want?”“I have no idea, too, he had been terrifying our pack for some time now.”“Really? You look so lame when you lie, Alex.” He said to Alex and turned to me.“Don't believe whatever they tell you in this pack, they are lairs and killers.”“So, it's you who I should believe?” I scoffed.“Don't listen to him, he's dangerous and has been a threat to our pack.” Alex countered Marcus.“Can you two stop trying to get in my head?” I yelled at them.“No, dearie. I'll never get in your head, but it would be in your best interest if you join force with me.” His voice, this time, was serious and demanding.“What is he talking about?” I turned to Alex, but he suddenly went mute.“We both know why we want you. He's hiding something from you, but if you come to me, I'll open up to you.”Marcus sounded so convincing and to make things worse, Alex kept mute like he had suddenly lost his voice or something.“What is this about, Alex? Say something!” I snapped.“I don't know what he is talking about. We want to welcome you to our pack and if you know you can't trust us, it would be best you go with him.”At this point, I was confused about whom to trust, side with or choose. I knew I needed to take me time to know whose side I wanted to be on.“Seem like someone is confused here.” Marcus giggled. “I'll be back to know your choice then.” He said and made to leave.“What do you want from us?” Alex asked, and Marcus turned back to him.“What is mine...... I want what is mine.” He gritted, but I could see a pinch of sincerity and love in his eyes.Maybe he's not as bad as Alex is painting him, what if Alex is the bad guy man here?“You have nothing with us, Marcus. You gave that up a long time ago.”“Gave that up? Why don't I remember it that way? Everything would have been perfect, Alex.”“You're right, everything would have been perfect if you didn't ruin it for us.”“It would be great for you if you don't step your feet in this pack again.” Alex threatened and Marcus burst into a weird laugh.“Really? An empty threat? I know you probably have her now, but I'll always be stronger. I'll always be your worse nemesis.” His brows curved in rage as he stared deeply into Alex's eyes.I know there's more to this, but Alex does not seem to want me to know about this, and Marcus wants in his pack before he reveals the truth. No! I can't trust someone this dangerous. As Marcus made you leave, I made my decision.“I'll go with Alex's pack.”Marcus turned to me with a grin that played carefully on his lips, “Very well then. You may. Alex, like every other round, you win this as well. But it won't be the same for the next one, I assure you that.” He threatened and disappeared into the thin air.We were about to take a step forward when we heard another loud howl, but this time, I could tell it was in group.“What is that?”“It's a signal that the full moon would be out soon. We need to hurry now.”We shifted into our wolves and sprinted through the cold, tall trees. And after some time, we got to an open place. It has only a house, but some wolves were gathered outside of it. They sat around the fire and seemed to know that I was coming.A middle-aged woman hot up from their midst and approached me.“You're welcome to the Pack, Alpha.” She said in her old cranky voice.I was surprised, why would anyone address me as an alpha? I thought it was only for the males. It has ever occurred to me to fall under the influence of the full moon, and I really don't know why because I lost my parents at a tender age. But this night, I felt strange.Like something was moving around my body and my bones would break anytime soon; it was as if I were shifting wolf for the first time.“What's happening to me?” I grunted in between the pains.“A symbol!” The woman said.Sarah's POV. “What symbol?” I grunted amidst the pain of my bones cracking up. “The symbol we had been waiting for.” She smiled satisfyingly. I hate to say, but I must admit that I hate what this woman is doing to me, keeping in the suspense of something when I can't obviously do anything at the moment. The pain continued for several minutes, and my last wish at that point was to make it stop, somehow. Just when I thought it was never going to end, the full moon took its rightful place up in the sky and the pain stopped immediately; it was as if I had never gone through that pain. Though it was surprising why all of this was happening to me, I was grateful that the pain had gone, and I had shifted into my wolf. I had sometimes been taunted by other werewolves in the human world for not being able to shift. I wished that could see me right out and regret every word they had said to me. But that was far from coming true. “You are really the chosen.” The woman beamed with a smile.
Two months later Alex's POV. Sarah had taken over the position of the Alpha of the Pack and as the days went by, we began to bound. And I even planned to have a dinner date with her tonight to make her take her mind off things for now; she seemed to be hiding a lot of things that hurt her. It was 2pm, and I had been watching the clock for so long that I felt tired of waiting and bored as well. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table while seated on the edge of the bed and dialed Sarah's number. She didn't pick up until the fourth attempt. “Hey, Sarah. How are you doing?” I asked sharply, taking a deep breath along the line. “I'm good….” She paused, expecting me to state my reasons for calling. I guess she isn't the type that has much time to ideal around like me. “I was just calling to check up on you, if that's fine by you.” I stuttered in a low tone. “Of course, it's fine by me. So, if you don't have anything else to say, I would love to hang up now.”“Wait!”“Yes?” She sai
Sarah sat around the bonfire with her pack, deep in discussion about how they were going to overcome the rival pack who had been encroaching on their territory and taking away some of their resources. Alex, a strong and experienced member of the pack, was the first to speak up."I think we need to hit them where it hurts,"he said, his eyes glowing in the firelight. "We know where they're getting their water from. If we can cut off their supply, they'll be weaker and more vulnerable."The woman who had taken Sarah in nodded in agreement. "That's a good idea, Alex. But we need to be careful. We don't want to start a war that we can't win."Sarah listened intently, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She had noticed one of their members, a man she didn't know very well, acting suspiciously. He kept glancing around nervously as if he was afraid of being caught.Suddenly, the man caught Sarah's gaze and immediately got up and ran away."Hey, wait!"Sarah called out, j
The next morning, Sarah grunted softly as she tossed around the bed. She slowly opened her eyes and she sat up, wiping her blurry and sleepy eyes with the back of her palms. Her eyes fell outside the window, at the bright, shiny sun that lit up the world. “It's such a beautiful day today.” She gasped softly. Before she could think of anything else, the door crept opened and the woman who had taken her in walked in. She goes by the name Sophie. She sat beside her on the bed, one of her hand on her knees, caressing it softly.“Good morning, Sophie.” Sarah said with a lit smile that played on her lips.“I hope you slept well?”“Sure, and you?”“I haven't felt this great in a long time. It's such a relief that you decided to join us.” Sophie smiled, which Sarah also returned. “I'll go make your breakfast. You should be down in ten minutes.” Sophie said on her way out of the room. “Okay, I'll be out soon.” Sarah called out.A smile played on Sarah's lips as she watched Sophie retreat fr
Alex's POV.I anxiously approached Sarah's house, clutching a map in my hand; encouraged by Sarah's threat yesterday, I made some research overnight. The sun was setting, casting an amber glow over the surrounding woods. I rang the doorbell, and Sarah opened the door with a warm smile, which surprised me as I was expecting to see the opposite. “Hey, Alex! I've been waiting for you,” Sarah greeted, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Ready for our adventure?” A grin played on her lips. I nodded, my heart pounding with anticipation. “Absolutely. I've marked the areas on the map where other werewolf sightings have been reported. We need to find out if there are other packs like us out there.” I tried to keep my voice firm. Sarah, still at the door, took the map from me. She studied the map intently, tracing her finger along the highlighted regions. “This is fascinating. It's like we're on a mission to uncover our own kind.” She said with a lively voice that didn't last the next sec
Sarah's POV.Alex squeezed out the juice from the wolfsbane and forces the man to take it.“You're going to regret this.” He shouted at Alex for making him take the portion.“I would be more than happy to get that.” Alex grinned. He stapled the werewolf on his back and we headed home. After some minutes of walking, we were in the middle of the pack and at Sophie's house. Alex dropped the man on the ground as he grunted and cracked his limbs from the man's heavy weight. Before I could say anything, the man interrupted me. “Antidote! The antidote.” He winced. “I'll only give you the antidote when you tell me what I need to know.” I snapped and walked into the house, followed by Alex. We met Mrs. Sophie taking a nap on the couch, I leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and she opened her eyes. “You're back?” She grunted as she sat up. “Yeah, and we got a member of another pack, he seems to be working with Marcus.” I said, and her face got lit with excitement. “Where is
Sarah's POV.He passed out before he could complete his sentence.“What's wrong with him? He's not dead, is he?” I asked as I walked away from him and hid the gun.Mrs. Sophie rushed to him, shake him so hard but he stood still, and she glared at me. “Happy now?”“Is he really dead?” Alex asked with his voice clouded with curiosity. “I don't think so.” I responded and walked to him. Punched him hard across the face, and he jolted back to life, “See?” I smiled. “We should treat him now, or he's really going to die.” Mrs. Sophia suggested, and I had no choice at this point but to accept it. “Fine! Go ahead.” I raised my hands in surrender and moved away from the man. Mrs. Sophie grabbed a lighter, lit it and put it on his wound. The man growled aloud, shaking the pillars of the basement. “Does she necessarily have to do that?” I whispered to Alex, but she heard me. “You have any other way to cure this?” She tilted her head. Soon, she was done, and the man was already looking be
Marcus's POV.Soon, it was evening and the clock struck 7pm. I walked out of my room and walked down to the office, which also served as our conference room. When I got there, I was almost surprised to see everyone present already, but this is Sandro we are talking about. Nobody would want a hurt to come close to him.He had sworn his allegiance to the Pack and had been faithful all this while.I sat in the armchair and my eyes darted frantically from one person to the other before I decided to break the silence after some seconds.“I believe we've all heard about the news; that Sandro is missing.....” A member butted in.“Is this Alex's doing? Why would he have Sandro kidnapped?”“I know, but can you please let me talk? Please?”“Sorry.” She mumbled under her nose.I rolled my eyes briefly and continued 2hat I was saying, “We have to save Sandro before they do something bad to him.” I added and took a break.“They? Who are they? I thought Alex was our only enemy?”“Well, another enem
