CHAPTER TWO

RAVENNA

~~~~~~~
I pulled up in front of the warehouse Drake gave me the directions to before sending a text to my clients for the night and pulling a ski mask down my face. The stars of the night were robbing a rich man's house and if we didn't all want to end up with our ass behind bars, we had to play it smart and according to the plan. Even though it was a risky plan, it was worth it because I got a cut out of the job. The money would take care of our food bills for a couple of months so I wasn't complaining even though the guys took their sweet time coming out. They came out wearing a black getup with a ski mask. In total, they were four. Three piled up in the back seat while the last one slid into the front.
"So here's the deal. You spend longer than fifteen minutes in there, I'm leaving all of your ass in there," I said without preamble. "We good?"
"Good," the one in the passenger seat growled as I took off down the road. "What's your name, pretty girl?"
I said growl because that was how his voice sounded while the rest at the back were quiet. It didn't take much to deduce that he was the leader.
I rolled my eyes. "You don't even know what I look like under this mask."
"I can tell you pretty. Don't ask how, but I know these things."
I smiled. "Good for you, but I don't think we're here to chitchat. Instead, go over the fucking plan in your head so you don't fuck things up."
"Did that like a hundred times already. Trust me, we got this in the bag. What's your name?"
"Mind your business," I replied without skipping a beat. "Also, shut the fuck up and let me think."
"Sure, Mama."
For the next twenty minutes it took to arrive at the house, the car was quiet allowing me to go over every single detail in my head again. I stopped the car just a block down the house. "Here's where you get off. Remember, fifteen minutes. Don't fuck this up, boys."
They nodded before climbing out of the car. I did a U-turn, going back down the road we passed before turning at a corner that led to a dirt road that was abandoned. How Drake found this place was still beyond me. I stopped at a junction that had three different roads. The plan was to drive far down each one of them ten minutes so if this place was discovered, they would be confused by the tire tracks on each road.
I did just that for ten minutes having five minutes to spare before I had to leave. Five minutes came and went, but the men were nowhere in sight. Drake's words were drummed into my ear.
"Don't hesitate, Raven, because when you do, you die. Stick to the plan and get out of there if they didn't stick to the plan. Don't feel bad because the mistake was on their end because I bet you none of those men would wait a single minute for you."
I was just about to start up the car when I heard footsteps. I pulled my gun from my waistband ready to shoot whoever it was when I saw the men. I let out a sigh of relief. "What took you so long?" I asked when the leader slid into the passenger seat with a bag that was no doubt filled with what they'd stolen, before tucking my gun back into the waistband of my pants.
"We had to be thorough. Let's get going."
I nodded before doing a U-turn and taking off down a tarred road that connected to a bigger road. If ever they came looking, they wouldn't expect us to go into the traffic. Instead, they'd assume we took the dirt road to avoid being caught. Just as I hit the traffic, I saw police cars speeding down the way we just came, no doubt going to the rich man's house. The ride back to their warehouse took longer because I had to stop at every light to avoid drawing attention to us while I drove around in circles to find out if we had a tail. Luckily we didn't or I would've spent extra time trying to lose it and things could get messy.
Pulling up in front of their warehouse, I let out a sigh. One of the men dumped a bag on my lap. My brows furrowed in question.
"That's for driving us. I know it's a fuckuva lot of money, but you deserve it and I'm a generous man. By the way, the name's Sawyer. Yours?"
"Bella." The lie rolled smoothly off my tongue and from his smile, I knew he knew I was lying.
He nodded. "Yeah. If I find a job, I'll contact Bella," he said before getting out of the car with the rest of his men. They punched in the code that let them into their warehouse while they cheered.
I sat my ass there watching them with a little smile even after they had locked the gate. That was where I fucked up. I was too distracted. Too slow to even shoot the fuckhead that had slipped into my car and had a gun pressed to my temple. Another man wearing a black tee and jeans slipped into the front passenger seat Sawyer had just evacuated. He had brown hair and a fuckton of tattoos snaking up his arms and neck. He was hot and I would probably have been interested in him under different circumstances if he wasn't trying to do god-knows-what to me with bad breath in the back seat.
"Hand your fucking gun to him. You shoot, and I'm gonna blow your fucking brains out," A lethal voice said into my ear. His breath reeked of alcohol and weed. That sent a shiver of disgust down my spine as I handed my gun to the other guy.
"Who the fuck are you guys?" I asked with a glare, swallowing hard as my palm turned cold and sweaty.
"You'll know soon enough," bad breath said before a cloth came upon my nose. In a few seconds, I was out cold.
