~ LYRA ~

As I stand in Ronan's doorway, taking in his home, memories of that night filter through me as I involuntarily recall how I’d sucked and licked Ronan, wanting more of his taste in my mouth and anxious to feel him surrender to his desire for me. He hadn’t given me enough reaction—not nearly enough. He’d groaned in pleasure but stayed still, as if trying to allow me to take my time and explore. And just before the dream had ended, he’d whispered that he’d return the favour. Even now, the thought of it has me aching all over again.

I’d woken up writhing, damp with sweat and need, so close to release I could almost taste it. His teeth had been at my skin when my eyes snapped open. And that was the last dream I’d had of him. Ever since, I’ve gone to bed each night, hoping for a repeat. Instead, I wake up horny and frustrated.

Now he’s here—walking, breathing, and very much real.

I jerk out of my fantasy as Ronan sweeps past me into his home. I can’t help but admire his form as he strides by the living room and vanishes around the corner. The place belongs to a man. The flooring is dark wood, with rugs throughout, and the furniture is made of black leather. A large plasma television is mounted on the far wall, and enormous speakers are bolted on each side of the room.

He reappears with beer bottles in each hand, and I take the one he extends to me, trying to get my hormones under control. He said he’d give me answers and explain what’s taking place. For some strange reason, I do trust him. Who am I kidding? A part of me recognizes him, even if it makes no sense whatsoever. Everything that’s transpired between us has been real.

They were dreams but weren’t.

How in the hell is that even possible? Gosh!

He lifts the beer to his lips, and I quickly do the same. The tang of the beverage hits my tongue, the flavour strong and somewhat bitter. I force the drink down and lower the bottle, staring at Ronan in disbelief. He doesn’t stop drinking, his throat constricting with each swallow until the bottle is empty. I gawk, unable to focus on anything but him. Another wave of heat rushes through me, making me lightheaded.

“Keep looking at me like that, and I’m going to give you what I promised, Lyra.” He lowers his hand and growls, gold eyes sweeping over me. “I’m trying to be a gentleman, but you’re testing my control.”

“I...” I try to think of something to say, realizing I’m alone with this muscular man inside his home. He could do anything he wants, and I wouldn’t be able to stop him. Not to mention he’s a werewolf.

Not smart. Not smart at all.

“I think the best way to go about this is to tell you straight.” He meets my gaze, then places his palm on my chin and tilts my head. Before I can stop him, he pushes my blouse off one shoulder and brushes back my hair, revealing the crescent shape behind my ear.

“Correct me if I’m wrong. I think you wanted a tattoo right here. Over this mark.”

Shit. How does he know that?

“Maybe,” I teeter, scrambling for the right thing to say. “Maybe not.”

His eyes narrow into slits as he growls, “Don’t lie to me.”

“What if I did?” Trying to feign indifference is impossible. The space feels too small with him in front of me. “It’s just a birthmark.”

“That’s where you’re wrong. It’s not just a birthmark. It’s the mark all wolves carry when they’re born. This means one of your parents is a wolf,” he announces and sweeps his thumb across the skin.

I clench my teeth, trying not to groan. For the first time, the mark doesn’t burn. If anything, his touch alleviates the sting, making the damn thing hum. A shiver runs through me, electric tingles starting where he touches and sweeping down my body.

“You don’t have one.” My eyes drift over his body. During my dreams, I never saw anything aside from tattoos on his magnificent form.

“It’s here.” His fingers drift to the hair behind his ear, and he turns his head. A small crescent shape is revealed, just below his hairline.

“This can’t be real.” My heart races, panic warring with desire. “There’s no way. I’d know if one of my parents could shift forms and howl at the moon.” I try to yank my hand away.

“Of course, you would.”

The amusement in his tone pisses me off. He might find the situation funny, but I certainly don’t. “Listen, Mr. Ego. I would know if—”

“I thought you were from one of the packs in the area when we started dream-pairing,” he continues as though he doesn’t hear me. “If you were human, you wouldn’t have this. When I saw it, I assumed you knew what you are.” He caresses my mark, sending a flash of fire through the erogenous zones of my body. “There was no way to know you’re only half.”

“You say that like it’s a bad thing.” I press my thighs together, mortified when my sex starts to throb. I should be terrified, not ready to fuck like a rabbit. My nipples harden, the lace of my bra becoming restricting and painful. “And I am human.”

“You’re half-human, and it’s not necessarily bad.” He lifts his head, his lips curving into a grin. “Just different. It changes the game a bit.”

“I hate to break it to you.” I consider shaking him. Here I am, off-balance and agitated, and he’s referring to the situation as a game. “But this isn’t Monopoly. Not even close. Do not pass go. No two hundred dollars for you.”

“Excuse me.” His wry grin should make me furious. Not horny. “Bad choice of wording.”

“How about you tell me the truth?”

“You’re going through your first moon heat,” he whispers, moving closer, the warmth from his body radiating like a furnace. “That’s why you found me. You knew your time was near. It’s instinctual.”

Denying his explanation is my only defense, even though a part of me knows it’s a bald-faced lie. Something is occurring between us. No one has ever made me feel like this, turning everything I know upside down and inside out.

“Maybe it’s instinctual for you, but it isn’t for me,” I argue. “I didn’t come to find you. I came to get a tattoo. The dreams... our meeting... it’s serendipity.”

“Listen, sweetness.” He invades my space, pressing his much larger body against mine. “You can keep lying to yourself, but it won’t change what’s destined to happen. You came to me, you chose me.”

He releases my hand and cups my chin in his palm, forcing me to meet his intense gaze. His touch is gentle, his closeness comforting. It’s hell not to squirm, to remain passive in his hold.

“Did you come to MoonMark Ink for a tattoo? Or did you feel... drawn or compelled to come there? Better yet, have you been feeling like yourself lately? Have you noticed changes you can’t explain? And finally, Lyra. Tell me, is your family aware you are in Ashridge Hollow right now?”

If you think Lyra’s heart is racing now, wait until you see what happens next. Chapter 7-12 turns the heat all the way up — Ronan stops holding back, and Lyra has to face exactly what she’s been dreaming about… in the flesh. 🔥

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 193 — A Show Of Good Faith

~ SELENE ~ I sigh and shift my shadowy vision toward my mate. Draven nods, like he can read my mind. I turn my focus to Lyra. She never did anything to me. She just happened to be Magnus’s daughter, and at the time, that was enough reason to invite my wrath. It takes me a few moments to find the right words. “Lyra, what I did to you was horrible. I shouldn’t have sent those bastards after you. Your father was the one who hurt me, not you. I’m sorry you had to pass through that. You didn’t deserve it.” I turn promptly to Tess, who’s leaning on Killan’s shoulder. “None of you deserved it.” Tess nods in quiet acceptance but says nothing. It takes Lyra a bit longer to respond. She finally sighs and squeezes Ronan’s hand. “Look, I get that your relationship with my father wasn’t ideal. You felt hurt and overlooked, and your feelings were valid. But you took it too far, Selene.” Lyra looks down at her hands. They’re locked in a loving clasp with Ronan’s, and his eyes are fixed on he

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 192 — Have To Do The Right Thing

~ SELENE ~ My pain is evident as I stare at Magnus. He embodies almost everything I hated about life and love before Draven came into the scene. “What could you possibly have to say now that’s so important? Haven’t you done enough damage already? You came here to gloat, didn’t you?” Magnus hangs his head for a split second and faces me again with pressed lips. “Not at all, Selene, I promise. I feel bad about how I handled things back then. I treated you horribly. I could have gone about our relationship better. A lot better. I wish I could take it all back.” His eyes contort in a pleaful aura. “It must have been hell for you.” I lash out at him, my pain spilling over as my eyes start to become misty. “Don’t patronize me! You came to apologize, and then what, you think I’ll just forget everything like it never happened?” “I didn’t say that, Selene. I understand it’ll take some time before yo—” “Oh, this is more than just taking some time to heal, Magnus. You destroyed me. Mad

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 191 — The Return of Old Ghosts

~ RONAN ~ I pour myself another drink and take a few deep gulps before breathing out a heavy sigh. “We have two choices. Either we reach some kind of truce with the hunters or prepare ourselves for another war.” Sighs and nods ripple around the room. No one bothers to argue—because really, there’s nothing to argue about. Everyone knows those are the only two choices. And leaving Ashridge Hollow? That’s not one of them. Zarek’s Crimson Court couldn’t make us leave; Blackthorn sure as hell won’t either. “I guess we’ll have to find a way to reason with them… or stop them.” Lyra’s brows knit together, but it’s Catherine who huffs, leaning back and flipping a knife around in her hand like she’s testing its weight. “I’d say those idiots are beyond reason. It’ll be like talking to a wet rock. Probably easier if we take a more… guaranteed approach.” I raise a hand before anyone can echo her sentiment. “If it gets to that, then we’ll have that discussion. For now, let’s exhaust our

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 190 — The Weight of a Crown

~ RONAN ~ I sigh and fix myself another drink. Then I move around the bar and plop down on one of the sofas, inwardly grateful as the soft cushion embraces my weary body. "Alright. Fine. I'm all ears," I yield, inviting Draven to continue his exposé on the Alpha Prime. "Your new responsibility extends beyond your current pack," he begins, his voice steady. "Every other pack is subject to you now, including all the alphas. In fact, they only remain alphas if you allow it." Draven slips from his bar stool and comes toward me. "As legend has it, the Alpha Prime is the most powerful wolf in any city. The goddess bestows him with immense power or something like that, and his scent alone can compel every wolf to action." I frown at the implication of this new status. "Compel? As in I can make you all do whatever I want?" Draven raises a hand slightly to stop my wandering thoughts. "Slow down. It doesn’t mean we’re puppets to you or that we don’t have a mind of our own. It’s just

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 189 — The Elephant in the Room

~ RONAN ~ Lyra and I linger like that for a while, bodies interlocked, tasting each other. She finally draws back gently to look me in the face, the warmth in her smile winding its way into my heart. I love the way her heart beats against my chest—proof that she’s alive and she’s all mine. She wets her thumb slightly on her tongue and swipes at the blood trails that color my face. I instinctively reach for her hand and squeeze it gently as I bury my chin in it. As she looks at me, her eyes convey a curiosity that her lips soon spill. “About the new you. You were… different after you got back up. What happened when you were under? How does it work?” She sounds as concerned as she is intrigued. I get her perplexity. I’m glad whatever happened to me helped us end Zarek’s evil for good. But I know I still need to understand exactly what it is. “I don’t know, baby. Draven said something about me being the Alpha Prime now. It’s an old wolf tale. I’ve never given it more than a pas

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 188 — Kill Them All

~ RONAN ~ With Lucian's collar still in my hands, I turn to face the vampires remaining, my face telling them a story that is as clear as day. I am demanding they behold the fate that will be theirs shortly. I return my focus to Zarek, who dangles in the air and lashes out with his massive claws, trying to rip me open and break free of my iron grasp. But his attacks do very little to break my skin, and my grip only tightens. I retract my free hand and ram it into Zerek's belly, extracting a moan from him like his subjects have never heard before. I pull back and drive my arm repeatedly into the vampire lord's torso. Then for good measure, I deliver a final punch to his gonads. The bat goes limp in my hand as he whimpers from the mind-numbing pain. "Now you know what it feels like," I grunt as I fling Zerek into the air like a wet rag. His body crashes into one of the stone chairs at the clearing. The jagged parts of the solid rock smash into his back, splintering his spine. He
