Winnie’s POV

“Oh, why? Why? I was just enjoying my sleep…” I cried dramatically, kicking away the poor alarm that just delivered its duty.

I lay in bed for almost an hour questioning my life decisions, “Why have I chosen medicine?”

That's how bad a short night can turn me into a drama queen.

I just got up, dressed, tied my hair, and stepped outside.

It's a brand new week!

I should head straight to the pack hospital where I serve as an intern, but I had somewhere much more important to head to.

The special medical center.

I pushed the front entrance open, the familiar herbal scent hitting me instantly.

Nurses and healers hurried around, their hands glowing faintly with activated herbs as they attended to patients.

I walked into a room I've become very familiar with.

“Mama?” I called as I got in.

She was awake, sitting up with a blanket over her lap.

Her face was as usual—pale, with her eyes sunken in their sockets, but still she gave me a small smile.

I wonder when she will finally be fine.

She doesn't deserve this. My mother ended up here while she was only trying to help. She went to visit her sick cousin only to get attacked by hunters and she got shot with wolfsbane. It was so rare and strong that it killed faster and had no immediate antidote.

I remember how I had threatened everyone that I was going to commit suicide if she died, but here she is, all strong and battling for life for 2 years now.

“You are early today,” she whispered.

“Yes, I have some stuff to do at work bit I have to come see you first.”

She took my hand, thumb rubbing over my knuckles.

“You don’t have to worry so much.”

“I’m your daughter. It’s literally my job.”

She laughed softly, then coughed. The cough echoed strangely.

My chest tightened, but I smiled anyway.

“I’ll check on you during my break,” I said, standing.

“Don’t skip lunch,” she warned. “And… try to have fun tonight at the festival.”

“Oh sure!” I replied, even though I had literally forgotten it was the Moon Goddess festival tonight.

I kissed her forehead and walked out.

---

I rushed out of the center and sprinted towards the hospital. My heart skipped a beat or two as I passed before the barracks.

Jason.

I stopped, my hands folded into a fist while I fought the strong urge to burst in there to see him, which was rather a crazy idea.

But I missed him, and I would do anything to have him around me.

I sighed, biting the inside of my cheek.

“Forget it,” I whispered to myself as I resumed my sprint to work.

The hospital was as… chaotic as ever.

With patients limping here and there and some ready to land a punch the doctor faces.

“Winnie!” a voice called.

Clara came running towards me, her coat looked less rough today.

We exchanged some greetings before she nudged me. “Come on, we’ve got a warrior who swears he’s dying. Spoiler alert: it’s just a minor sprain.”

I laughed as we walked to our station.

The day moved fast—mixing herbs, helping healers prepare more herbs, cleaning minor wounds, and listening to Clara’s dramatic gossip.

This is the only place on earth that made me feel useful.

I can't believe I'm almost there. I'm almost a professional healer.

I am achieving my childhood dream to help wolves like Mama.

To be strong in a way that didn’t require claws or fangs.

“Now to the festival tonight,” Clara sang as we organized vials. “You going?”

“Yeah.”

“Is Jason bringing you or occupied?”

“I do not know,” I shrugged.

Clara raised an eyebrow but she kept her mouth shut—something I'm extremely grateful for.

But also my heart sank, Jason hadn't returned any of my calls or messages since yesterday… maybe he's just busy with the pack festival preparation.

Maybe.

---

By evening, the entire pack was glowing with excitement.

Ancient Lanterns swung from trees, music started echoing from the plaza, and everywhere was filled with wolves dressed in blue and white.

I went to visit Mama again. I wish I could sneak her out of the center for the festival but I'm going to regret it.

“You look beautiful,” she said as I adjusted her scarf.

“You look… more alive,” I teased.

She slapped my arm lightly. “Rude child.”

“Remember to ig—”

“Ignore the Alpha at all costs.” I completed… ugh! Silly rules I never understand where they came from or why.

“Good, and don’t be too careless about this.” She said as she adjusted the button of my gown.

“It's something I've been doing all my life,” I rolled my eyes.

She was talking about the birthmark on my tummy.

Something she warned me to never expose… for reasons I still don't know to date.

I still remember how her face went white when I threatened to show it to everyone if I did not have a candy after my dinner.

What a chaotic child!

As a baby and a teen, all I wore were dungarees. It provides more protection that suits my hyper energetic lifestyle but I also got picked on for it and nobody wanted to be my friend.

Stupid how most kids reason.

But Jason was always there for me and that's why I love him.

“Do you have any candies to offer?” The sweetest tiny voice I've ever heard brought me out of my thoughts.

Standing before me was a little cute baby girl who shouldn't be up to four years old. Her pouted lips and big eyes made my knees turn jelly.

Can anyone be cuter?

“Sure…”

I gave out alot if candies to the pups around and pretty soon? My cheeks were aching from smiling too much.

The festival went on with older wolves blessing the younger ones, the Alpha came around and blessed the pack but is it just because of “Mama rules” or did I feel the Aloha's eyes boring holes in my body twice?

I was playing around with some pups when I heard it.

Gasps.

Whispers.

The crowd was heading to a direction.

My heart skipped.

“What’s happening?” I asked nobody in particular.

I just walked closer, pushing through bodies, stepping between shoulders—my curiosity growing bigger with each passing second.

My heart stopped working when I got a proper view.

There he was—Jason.

But he wasn't just patrolling or performing his duties.

He was on his knees with a shiny ring in hand and standing before him was the Alpha's sister, Lila.

I stood frozen for a moment with my jaw dropping to the ground.

Is this a joke?

My throat tightened and my heart collapsed as if a truck had run over it.

Jason is proposing to another woman.

  • MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF    When the Silenced Wolf Spoke Back

Winnie’s POVThe High Tower was a beautiful prison, but it was a prison nonetheless, a golden cage designed to keep the world safe from me as much as it was designed to keep me tucked away from the world. It was a circular room at the very peak of the palace, filled with velvet cushions, silk tapestries that depicted the ancient wars of the North, and a panoramic view of the entire territory that stretched out like a map of everything I was now forbidden to touch. The air up here was thin and cold, smelling of old stone and the faint, lingering scent of the incense the priests used to sanctify the royal chambers. But the heavy oak door was locked from the outside with ancient runes I could not break even if I had the strength of ten men, and the guards stationed outside were the Alpha’s personal elite.I sat by the window for hours, watching the stars begin to pierce the velvet sky and feeling the strange, cold heat still humming in my veins like a restless swarm of bees. What had

  • MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF    When the Palace Learned to Fear Me

Winnie’s POVThe darkness was not just an absence of light. It was a sentient, breathing thing, an ancient beast that had been slumbering in the hollows of my bones, waiting for the right moment to scream. It coiled around my ankles like a living snare and climbed up my spine, a cold, heavy silk that whispered promises of retribution into the very marrow of my soul. The ballroom, which only moments ago had been a place of glittering pretense, royal gold, and the suffocating scent of expensive perfumes, had been transformed into a tomb of absolute shadows.I could hear the panicked breathing of the wolves around me. The sound was frantic and wet, a chorus of apex predators suddenly turned into helpless prey. I could hear the desperate, ragged scrape of claws on the polished marble as some of the elite guards shifted in fear, their instinctual terror overriding years of military training. But for the first time in my miserable life, I was not the one trembling. For the first time, I w

  • MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF    When the Silenced Wolf Woke

WINNIE’S POVI didn't sleep. Every creak of the floorboards, every distant howl of a wolf on patrol, made me bolt upright in bed, my heart hammering against my ribs. The image of the dead bird burned in my mind. Lila wasn't just a spoiled princess, she was a predator who had been told no for the first time in her life, and I was the target of her rage. But as the sun began to peek over the jagged peaks of the Moon Stone Mountains, a different feeling started to stir in my chest. It wasn't fear. It was a low, simmering heat.I was tired of being the victim. I was tired of being the girl who got left behind, the girl who got bullied, the girl who apologized for existing.I got up, washed my face with ice-cold water, and pulled on a fresh pair of dark trousers and a fitted tunic. I braided my hair back so tight it pulled at my scalp. If I were going to be in the middle of a wolf den, I was going to look like I belonged there. When I arrived at the Alpha's chambers, the guards seemed

  • MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF    Under the Alpha’s Protection

Winnie’s POVThe air in the room didn’t just turn cold, it turned lethal. The silence was a physical weight, pressing down on my shoulders until I felt like I might actually buckle. I couldn't look at Jason. I couldn't. If I looked at him, I’d see the man who had promised me a lifetime in a treehouse, only to trade me in for a palace balcony and a crown. But I could feel his gaze. It was a searing heat on the side of my face, confused and sharp, cutting through the heavy scent of cinnamon that still clung to the room.“Winnie?” Jason’s voice was a ragged whisper, a ghost of the boy I used to know.“It’s Winifred,” Cassian corrected him, his voice like the grinding of tectonic plates. He didn't look at Jason. He was still looking at me, his dark eyes hooded, watching the way my breath hitched. He reached for his silk shirt, draped over the back of the chair, and slid it on. He didn't button it immediately, leaving the glowing, herb covered expanse of his chest partially visible. I

  • MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF    Hands on the Alpha’s Heart

Winnie’s POVThe Royal Hospital wing was unlike anything I had ever seen. Back at the pack hospital, if you could even call that run-down clinic a hospital, we were lucky if the floors got mopped twice a day. The air there always smelled of wet fur, old bandages, and the metallic tang of despair. Here, everything was pristine. The floors were white tile so polished they reflected the glowing crystals in the ceiling. The walls were lined with cabinets made of dark, polished mahogany, filled with vials of every color imaginable, vibrant blues, glowing greens, and deep, blood reds. The healers moved with a quiet, practiced efficiency, their white robes snapping as they walked. They didn’t talk; they communicated in quick nods and sharp gestures. It made me feel like a clumsy pup in a china shop, my heavy boots sounding like thunderclaps on the quiet floor.“Miss Godfrey?”I jumped, nearly tripping over my own feet. A tall, elegant woman with graying hair and a kind face approached m

  • MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF    The Alpha I Kissed in the Dark

Winnie’s POVThe world didn’t just stop; it shattered into a million jagged pieces, each one piercing my skin.I stood there, my feet glued to the expensive marble floor, while the air in my lungs turned to lead. The scent was undeniable. It wasn’t just a hint of cinnamon anymore; it was a tidal wave of it, it was dark, spicy, and so intoxicatingly familiar that my lips actually tingled with the ghost of a kiss I had spent two weeks trying to scrub away.My mind raced back to that neon-lit bar, to the bottom of a whiskey glass, and the man who had caught me before I hit the floor. I remembered the heat of his hands, the way he had looked at me like I was something precious rather than a broken girl with a wolf-less soul. I had kissed him to forget Jason. I had kissed him because for one second, I wanted to feel powerful. But the man standing before me now wasn’t just some kind stranger. He wasn’t a guard or a high-ranking official’s son.He was the Alpha. He was Alpha Cassian,
