Alexander
Immediately we arrived at the office, I turned towards the receptionist. "Get me Damien, have him come to my office immediately."
"Yes sir," she stood up and scurried away to Damien's office.
Felix held my bags and walked into my office.
He bowed. "Sir Alex, I would like to apologize on behalf of the lady's behavior. If I had stopped her in time, things wouldn't have happened the way it happened."
"You don't have to worry Felix, I'll make sure she's punished. You can leave now."
He faced the door in time, about to go out.
"What was her name again? I didn't quite catch it."
"Melissa," Felix replied.
"You can leave," I dismissed him again and repeated the name to myself, smiling. "Melissa. Such a feisty one, I promise to clip those wings of yours."
My mind traveled back to what happened in the restaurant, truth be told, she wasn't at fault. I saw it all but the words had left my mouth before I could refrain from saying them.
Her response made me repeat the same word. I wanted to see what she would do and she really shocked me. I didn't see the slap coming to my face, she was the first woman to ever do that to me.
Just in time, the knock on my door dragged me out of my thoughts. "Who's there?"
"It's Damien sir," he said.
"Oh come in," I adjusted myself on my seat.
"Morning sir," he bowed slightly. "The receptionist said, you sent for me."
"Sure, take a seat," I watched him take his seat. Damien was the company's private investigator, he was good at his job and that made me love him.
"Apparently, there's someone I need you to make full blown enquiries on. Her name is Melissa, she works as a waitress in 'Happy Eating Restaurant', that's all I know about her.
As I spoke, he kept jotting down the things he needed to make the work easier.
"How long is it going to take for you to find everything about her?" I asked him.
"At most an hour sir, I'll have all the details forwarded to your mail," he bowed and left.
An hour later
I was buried deep in work when the notification of a new mail captured my attention. I opened it, scrolling through it and the brightest, most evil smile I could ever have showed on my face involuntarily.
I hit up Felix immediately, "arrange a meeting with Mr Derek Dawson of Flibort company."
"Yes sir," the line went dead and I got up to prepare for the impromptu meeting I was just having.
*****
Felix and I walked into the restaurant, only to see Mr Derek waiting. He sat in a gray suit, his side facing us, while he munched on the cookies and milkshake in front of him.
As soon as he sighted us, he rushed to his feet, bowing in intervals and welcoming me.
"Welcome Sir Alexander, to whom do I owe this visit?"
"One which would benefit us all," I said and he smiled. Felix stood behind me with a document he held.
"I happened to know about the unfortunate incident going on in your company, the lay off of so many staff because you couldn't afford to pay their salaries. Is that true?"
He adjusted uncomfortably on his seat, fixing his tie in a good way. He forced out a smile.
"It's true Sir Alexander, I'm working on it."
"How about I propose an offer? I give you 20 million dollars and you let me marry your child, Melissa, in return."
The greed in his eyes could not go unnoticed. I smiled to myself, knowing that I was doing a very good job. 5 million dollars was more than enough to solve his company's financial problem and I was offering him ×4 of that.
"Sir Alexander, that is quite a lot," he loosened the tie on his neck, feeling uncomfortable.
"I could take my offer away, to someone else entirely. It's up to you to decide," I used my knowledge of psychology on him. Indirectly I was referring to his rival company.
"Not at all sir, please give me a few minutes to weigh my options sir," he stood up and walked outside the door. I could see him from the transparent glass fanning himself with his hand and talking to himself out loud, without caring if people saw him as a mad man. After a few minutes, he walked in.
"I'm sorry for my unprofessionalism sir. I'll take the offer," he said, smiling.
"Good choice," I commended him.
Felix handed me the offer letter and he appended his signature after going through it.
I wrote him a cheque of 30 million dollars, handing it over to him.
"The remaining 10 million dollars should be used in getting a suitable beautiful wedding dress and accessories for my wife. I wouldn't like it if she wore something cheap. She's getting married to a billionaire, remember that."
"Yes sir," his eyes shone at the paper he held. "When would you like to have the wedding happen sir?"
"Tomorrow, there's no time for dilly-dallying," I said. "Get her ready by then, I don't care what you have to do to make her ready."
Who could believe it? In less than 24 hours I was getting married. I wanted to show her that I could use influence to get whatever I wanted. I wanted to get her, irrespective of whoever she thought she was.
I stood up, ready to walk out. I was obviously done with the meeting before I heard his voice call out to me.
"Sir Alexander, why your sudden interest in my child?"
I turned around, facing him, wearing a mischievous smile. "Just say that she did something that blew my mind away and ever since then I have had my eyes on her."
I was Alexander Pierce for a reason, the richest youngest billionaire in New York. I get anything and anyone that I set my eyes on and I have set my eyes on Melissa Dawson.
Melissa"Never, I'll never marry him. I'd rather die than find myself spending forever with someone like him," I cried for the 100th time. My father wasn't listening to me, he came home that night announcing my marriage to the last person I ever thought of.I had dreamed of fantasy, happily ever after. Irrespective of how old I was, I still had the stature of a 20 year old kid. I always believed that one day my prince charming would come and sweep me off my feet.I couldn't believe I was keeping myself for him, I was going to be married to the bastard I had hassled with in the morning."Father please," I lowered myself on my knees, begging him, because I knew my life depended on it. "Don't do this, my whole life will be halted. I'm in my final year in school, let me finish in grand style, please.""Unfortunately Melissa, there's nothing I can do for you. Your fate has been sealed. Tomorrow you get married to the billionaire, Alexander Pierce," he said deadpan and walked out of the roo
MelissaIt's been 6 months in Alexander's home and to me it felt like years. The emotional and mental torture was one I couldn't deal with. Most of the days, I spend them in the room all alone without talking to anyone. My muse had drifted away from me so bad. I was an artist, I loved painting, I love drawing but lately I couldn't find the courage to pick them up again. I had become my own shadow, lost without a direction, without a place to call home.Alexander slept on the other side of the bed, snoring away peacefully. The whole room was illuminated yet I glanced into the darkness right in front of me, praying that I would find a way soon to color myself in it. My right hand unconsciously caressed my tummy. In a span of 6 months, Alexander had me remove my babies, twice. He claimed he wasn't ready for kids now as they would deter him from his goal.I was pregnant again but I couldn't let him know otherwise it would meet the same fate as others."Why are you rubbing your tummy?" His
Alexander`Alex, close your eyes. Don't look at me, don't look at mama. Papa is just angry, I was the one that wronged him.`I jumped up from my sleep, covered in my own sweat, breathing heavily. Deep black bags sought refuge under my eyes, the beautiful shiny gaze my eyes held had become lifeless, like I was staring into oblivion. For months, they had always been that way. I looked up at the wall clock, it was just 3am in the morning. Frustrated, I pushed the covers away from my body and sat upright. It's been 7 years since Melissa left and 7 years since the nightmares came again.Few months after she left, her smell on the sheets helped keep the nightmares away. I always imagined she was right there beside me and it always worked but as soon as the sheets were changed, everything came back to the way it used to be.I walked downstairs to grab a cup of water in the kitchen, I noticed the light was turned on and I wondered who would be awake at that time of the night. I saw Felix sit
Alexander The next day As I sat in the booked car, driving me away from the airport, questions upon questions lingered on my mind. Questions upon questions lingered longer. Will I ever find her? Would she ever want to have anything to do with me? Would she even want to believe that I've really changed? I was ready to do anything just for her to accept me back. Maybe she was my guardian angel after all and I just might have lost her forever. The time read 2pm on my wristwatch, going to the hotel would leave me jobless. I rolled the window down and marveled at the beauty of Carlton, it has really been a long time since I stayed away. My conscience kept poking me but I decided to not pay attention to it. "Take me somewhere nice," I said to the driver. "I don't want to go to the hotel yet." "Yes sir," he said, changing the route he was taking. My attention was diverted to my phone, an unknown number was calling. I picked up at the second ring, curious on who it could be. "Yes, who
Alexander I watched the kids as they ran towards the woman who called them. She was dark in complexion, stood at an average height with brown colored hair. Seeing that the kids were safe and under an adult's care, I walked back to the car. I was glad that very few people could recognize me. "Let's go to the hotel, I could use a really good sleep right now." At the mention of the good sleep, it sounded like a joke even to myself. Remembering what I battled with, it seemed like the nightmares were waiting for me to just close my eyes, irrespective of the time and day. I sent the detailed description of where I was staying and what time I'd like Cindy to come. It's been years since I laid with a woman, let's hope that I won't mess things up. Getting to the hotel, I grabbed the room keys from the receptionist and entered the elevator, leading to the vvips suite. The aesthetics in the room were really befitting and inviting. I dropped my suitcase and the little bag I came with on the
Alexander I dressed in a navy blue suit, my silky black hair was combed back. I complimented my dressing with a black shoe, making me look smart and presentable. I fetched my suitcase and arranged my things in it; my phones, jotter, a pen and my cheque book. I was so sure I'd be making a lot of donations there today. My wristwatch made a chime, notifying me of the time. The driver must be down, waiting for me. I checked out of the hotel with my things and dropped the keys at the reception. "Morning sir," the driver approached me with a smile, reaching for my bag and my suitcase. "You know my schedule this morning, right?" "Yes sir, I've been briefed," he responded, bowing slightly. "Good, let's go." The drive to Carlton's College of Art was roughly a 30 minutes drive from the hotel. I saw the driveway filled with cars of prestigious people and students flocking around. Instantly I concluded that it was a big event. The car was ushered into a private packing space. I stepped o
Melissa My heart swelled with joy knowing how rough the past few years have been. Standing in front of thousands at the annual conference was a dream come true for me. Immediately the director gave his little speech and welcomed me to the stage, I was elated. The students made it more resounding when they roared with joy when my name was called. I found my way to the stage in style, swaying my hips gently from one end to the other. My 3 inch heels made pointy noises on the tiled floor. I was clothed in a green tight dress, just stopping below my knees. The past few years, I had become confident of my own figure but past traumas made me steer clear from men. I reclined gently to the length of the microphone, speaking into it. The spotlight was fixed on me and it felt like I was on top of the world. For that moment, I felt free. "Oh wow, thank you so much. I had no idea I was a fan of many," I said, earning approvals and laughs from students in the hall. I gave my acknowledgements
Alexander My mouth wide open agape, my gaze stuck to her back view like a glue, following each and every step she took out. It was hastened, like she despised my presence so much and being around me was poison for her. I was coming back to Melissa's issue, first of all, I needed to deal with this new tick I just found myself. I suddenly seized her by the arm, adding more pressure into my hold on her. "What are you doing here, Cindy?" My words came out between gritted teeths. She winced, her eyes going back and forth, from my hand to my hardened gaze. She tried to free herself from my hold. "You are hurting me," she cried out but I could care less. "I'll do more than that if you do not stay out of my life. You are a hooker, stick to that title of yours and never come after me." My hold relaxed on her suddenly and she sank terribly into one of the seats behind her. I straightened my suit and started to walk out, without waiting to hear another word from her. "I love you Alexand
