The days after the burial passed slowly.

Not painfully slow.

Just quiet.

Like the kingdom itself was learning how to breathe again.

And somehow, so was I.

I spent most of my time recovering. The healers still checked on me constantly, even when I insisted I was fine. Valerie stayed close whenever she could, though she had returned home briefly to continue preparing for her wedding.
