“You stupid, selfish bastard.”

Riley Martinez didn’t wait for Leandro to fully collapse onto her couch before the words came pouring out. Blood soaked through his shirt, his face was gray with pain, but all she could think about were the months of warnings he’d ignored.

“Riley, I—”

“Don’t you dare.” She slammed her first aid kit onto the coffee table hard enough to make the supplies jump. “Don’t you dare try to explain this away like you did last time.”

Leandro pressed his palm against his shoulder wound, watching her gather antiseptic and gauze with movements that were sharp and angry. Her dark hair had escaped its usual neat ponytail, and there were worry lines around her eyes that made her look older than her thirty-two years.

“I need help,” he said quietly.

“What you need is a psychiatrist.” Riley pulled on latex gloves with more force than necessary. “But since you’re bleeding on my furniture, I guess medical attention will have to do for now.”

She moved his hand away from the wo

  • MINE TO CLAIM    THE RECKONING

“You look surprised to see me.” Dario took another step into the room, his footsteps echoing in the silence that had fallen over the celebration. The medallion swayed slightly in his grip, catching the light with each movement. Around the room, Shadow operatives reached for weapons with hands that trembled despite their training. The Shadow leader recovered first, his mask hiding whatever expression had crossed his face. “Dario Santos. We weren’t expecting you to attend our victory celebration.”“Weren’t you?” Dario’s smile was razor-sharp. “After going through all the trouble of sending me invitations?”He gestured around the room, taking in the fake medallion display, the celebrating defectors, the guards positioned at strategic points.“The photographs of my woman with her ex-fiancé. The attacks on my operations. The theatrical theft of what you thought was my medallion.” Each word was measured, deliberate. “Did you really think I wouldn’t respond to such a personal invitation to

  • MINE TO CLAIM    THE KING’S RETURN

“Tonight marks the end of the Santos dynasty forever.” The Shadow leader’s voice boomed across the celebration hall, his masked face turned toward the crowd of operatives and defectors who had gathered to witness their triumph. He stood on a raised platform beside the display case containing what they believed was Miguel Santos’s medallion, basking in the applause and cheers that followed his declaration.“For too long, this city has lived under the thumb of men who believed themselves untouchable,” he continued, raising his champagne glass. “Men who thought fear and tradition could protect them from justice.”Vincent Torrino, the Santos lieutenant who had questioned Dario’s authority weeks earlier, stepped forward with his own glass raised. “What about his remaining forces? Surely some of his people are still loyal.”“Half his organization is dead as of three hours ago,” the leader announced, his voice carrying savage satisfaction. “Our coordinated strikes across the city eliminate

  • MINE TO CLAIM    THE CELEBRATION

“They’re actually throwing a party.” Ricco adjusted his earpiece while watching the Shadow facility through night-vision binoculars. From their position on the overlooking ridge, the abandoned office building looked anything but empty. Lights blazed from windows that should have been dark, and figures moved freely on what were supposed to be secured levels.“What kind of party?” Dario’s voice came through crystal clear despite the encrypted channel.“The kind where they think they have already won. Multiple vehicles in the parking area, guards drinking at their posts, music coming from the main floor.” Ricco lowered the binoculars. “They’re celebrating like the war is over.”“Perfect.”Elena’s voice cut through the comm system. “Supply truck is three minutes out from the main entrance. Kitchen staff are already unloading cases of champagne.”Dario sat in the back of the catering van, surrounded by his best fighters dressed as kitchen workers. The irony wasn’t lost on him that they

  • MINE TO CLAIM    UNDERGROUND ALLIANCES

“You’re not eating again.”Rebecca looked up from her untouched dinner tray to find Ava sitting beside her father’s makeshift bed. The cell was cramped with four people now, the air thick with worry and the metallic smell of Owen’s injuries.“Neither are you,” Rebecca pointed out.“I’m trying to keep fluids down for the baby. Food just makes me nauseous.” Ava pressed a damp cloth to her father’s forehead. His fever had spiked again, and without proper antibiotics, the infection in his wounds was spreading.“How’s his breathing?”“Shallow. The rib fractures are making it hard for him to expand his lungs fully.” Ava’s voice carried the clinical tone she used when discussing patients, but Rebecca could see the fear underneath. “He needs real medical care.”“We all do.”Cara looked up from where she sat in the corner, her arms wrapped around her knees. “Do you think they’re coming for us?”“Dario will come,” Ava said with quiet certainty. “Whatever else is happening, he won’t leave us her

  • MINE TO CLAIM    FINAL PREPARATIONS

“You haven’t eaten anything all day.”Camilia stood in the doorway of Dario’s study, watching Rohan hunched over multiple laptops and scattered papers. Empty coffee cups formed a small city on the desk beside him, and his usually immaculate appearance showed signs of the eighteen-hour workday he had been pulling.“I’m fine,” he said without looking up from the building schematics spread across his desk. His finger traced ventilation routes while he spoke into his wireless headset. “Team Three, I need confirmation on the south entrance. Are those motion sensors active or decorative?”Camilia moved closer, noting the tension in his shoulders and the way his jaw kept clenching. She had been watching him work for hours, coordinating dozens of moving pieces for tonight’s operation, and the stress was written in every line of his body.“Rosa made sandwiches. Roasted pork, the kind you actually like.”“Later.” Rohan switched to another laptop, pulling up thermal imaging of the Shadow faci
