Difficult Choice

The corn dog in Ed Shane's hand still had half left. The man took a sip of the cola in a can he kept next to him.

"You never want to understand, Ivy. I told you, things are different now."

"Then tell me who do you choose? Me or her?"

Ed Shane breathed again. He put the corn dog on the package.

His eyes stared into a pair of hazel eyes in front of him. A pair of adorable little eyes.

"Of course I choose you, Ivy. You have succeeded in making my wish come true, while she did not. Of course I chose you, Honey," Ed Shane explained gently while continuing to rub her head.

"Then leave her," Ivy insisted.

Ed Shane's strokes of the girl's head stopped. He stared into the pair of eyes in front of him.

"I can't," Ed Shane said softly as he removed his hand from Ivy's head.

"Why, Honey?"

"I can't do that, Ivy," Ed Shane insisted.

Ivy shifted her seat to face Ed Shane completely. "Why can't you do it? Tell me, do you still love her?"
