In the vampire—enslaved present world, Myra longed for a better life. After a horrid tragedy that ended her life, she was reborn as a lowlife Omega from a folklore in the year 1721. Now she must save the Lycans from their impending doom, and rewrite history.

My hands shook nervously as I rose up to defend my presentation, twenty four pairs of eyes glanced at me from the audience seats to the podium. Try to calm your breath Myra. You've got this. I tried to calm my breath and I could see my professor from the corner of my eyes beaming at me with a soft smile. It was the last day of highschool, and I live a life farther than a normal life should be. It was practically my last day in human territory. The final assessment gauges our competency to further education and if we are lucky enough, we won't serve in the menial aspects of the vampire covens. I gritted my teeth at the thought that lingered at the back of my mind. The one thought responsible for my sleepless night and my drive for justice and revenge. Vampires. Vampires lord humans in this modern world, they chief the whole entirety of our affairs and the situation has been like that long ago before I was born. Passing this last aspect of highschool means a big deal to me because I want to further my education as a historian, teaching people the truth and the truth only. My presentation today could otherwise get me in trouble, but the truth must be said. And I'll be damned if I don't preach it. "My presentation," I began, my voice steady despite the turmoil of my heart," is the true life history of The Curse of the Spurned Omega, a happening from the 18th century that explains the extinction of Lycans, also known as werewolves." I clicked the projector, displaying a faded sketch of a wolf howling under a blood-red moon. "In 1721, in the Lycan Realm, a low-ranking Omega was rejected by her Alpha mate, a prince named Kael. This tale follows the life of a young and weak omega who played a pivotal role in the events that led to the great crumble of the Lycans some years ago." I could see people yawning with disinterest as the subject of Lycans came on. Nobody believes that anymore, I've learned to however imagine a world where leveled beings are there to put vampires in check. The vampires who rule us made us understand that there was a time Vampires and Lycans co-led the human race before the former got defeated. Disheartening to say but we've been living under the tyrannical reign of the Vampires ever since I was born. "This Omega, named Mira, worked at the packhouse, tended to house chores with no formidable powers. She has no relatives either. And on the day of her 18th birthday, she was discovered to be the mate of the great Lycan Alpha prince." I know the lines off hand but I chose to project it word by word with rhyming images so as not to miss any intricate detail of the story. Gradually, I can see the rekindled interest of my classmates. "The Lycan Alpha prince however was not having that, in his rage and fury, he thought the moon goddess was making fun and scorning him. He rejected this Omega as his mate. The Omega pleaded for mercy and for second chance but she was not granted. Instead, she was locked in one of the pack dungeons on false accounts of treason." I paused as if I was waiting for a reaction and soon enough someone raised their hand. "How do you know it was on a false account? Afterall you were not there." "Thank you for that question." I smiled inwardly as I was expecting something like that. "This Omega has no power to dictate any happening in the kingdom and in this text." I flipped to another section of the slide. "It was said that Lycans should be tried for whatever offense committed, no trial was done prior so we can all conclude the treason was on a false account. Probably by someone who wanted her gone in the realm." The student nodded his head. Half convinced, I deduced but I took that as a clue to continue. "Days trickled into week and on the second day of the next month, it was discovered that the Omega had been murdered in the dungeons. She was murdered in cold blood after being tortured in a cruel and brutal manner." Terrifying gasps went through the crowd. I really could not go into the explicit detailing of her gruesome death but the aspect of that tale worried me a lot. "This mate's rejection made the moon goddess angry at the Lycan realm and soon enough, the Alpha regretted his actions but it was too late. He ordered his servant to bring the Omega from her cell because the punishment from the torture of the now broken mate bond was unbearable. His servants went to bring her but they instantly reported the news of her death. The Prince went mad with anger and rage and that created a distraction for the vampires to steal the Blood Moon Relic, a relic forged to amplify supernatural power. Using its blood magic, the vampires unleashed a ritual massacre in 1721, wiping out the Lycans. Without the presence of Lycans to balance them, vampires rose to rule Earth." The whole class erupted with cheers as they clapped for me. Professor Harold, a fifty-six years old human professor I've grown to like too, could not stop his smiley expression. "What wonderful research is well done, Myra. I'm so proud of you." "Thank you Professor Harold." I went to my seat as another person stepped to the podium to defend their report. I'm very sure I nailed it. Now I await the result of the presentation. In some ways, the story of the spurned Omega got to me more than I will admit. She was helpless and could not do anything. It is so unfair to her. I was so exhausted after the day's activities, I grabbed my hoodie to enjoy the scenery outside. The red banners outside were a reminder that Vampires lorded us and there is nothing we can do about that, we have our devotion to donate a number of pints of blood every month. Cold breeze hit my face as I inhaled the fresh air, I clutched the pendant around my neck. It was one my mother gave me before her death. My mind drifted to my mother, Eryn, a fierce woman who had defied vampire blood tributes eight years ago. I was nine when the enforcers dragged her to a public square, demanding more pints of my 'flesh' blood but she chose to offer hers instead. I could still hear my mother's scream. The vampire enforcer's fangs glinted red as he drained her life, a public example to warn others not to defy them. Tears stung my eyes but I quickly wiped them as I heard footsteps approaching. Lila, my half-vampire stepsister, sauntered over, her pale skin and sharp cheekbones a stark contrast to my warm complexion. Lila's mother, a vampire, had married my father after my mother's death, binding our families in a tense truce. She lives in the Vampires territory and her presence was definitely surprising to me at the moment. "Well, well, well. Nice little fairy tale, Myra, I heard your exploits." Lila sneered, her eyes glinting with malice. I stiffened, gripping my pendant. "It's history, Lila. It all happened and that's the truth." Lila's laugh was cold. "Truth? You're a fool, Myra. Digging up myths while I'm stuck in your shadow. Father praises your grades, but I'm the one with power." She stepped closer, her half-vampire strength pinning me against the wall. "You don’t belong here, you pathetic human." I shoved back, my heart pounding, but I struggled to maintain my composure. "You're just jealous because I don't bow to vampires like you do." Lila grabbed my arm in fury, dragging me toward a nearby cliffside path. "I should have done this a long time ago." She chuckled bitterly. "What is it Lila? you're hurting me!"I cried out. The path was a known danger zone where vampire patrols rarely ventured. I struggled to free myself, but Lila's strength was unnatural. "Stop, Lila!" I gasped, my pendant swinging wildly, my hair cascaded around my neck as I struggled to get out of her grasp. "What are you doing?" "Ending your fairy tale," Lila spat, her voice trembling with fury and venom. "You don’t deserve to shine. You are not allowed to." With a shove, Lila pushed me over the cliff. Her face was the last I saw, with a sinister smile plastered on it. Time slowed, I screamed but I could barely hear myself, my lungs gave out alongside my will to live. The world blurred, pain exploding in every part of me as I hit the rocks below. Darkness engulfed me instantly as I drifted off to a world unknown.Diana looked at me as if I'm crazy." Do you just want to know? Or is there anything else?""I just want to know." I quickly reiterated. "I'm not sure, think there is a coven witch just outside the borders. You can discreetly ask around."I had to have a plan B just in case. When we got back, I felt all sweaty and scratchy. Lucky enough, the pack stream is just half a mile from the quarters. I quickly gathered my clothings and made for the quiet stream. The atmosphere of the stream was peaceful and serene. It is a good thing no one frequents this area at all.I dipped myself into the warm, clean water and the peacefully absorbed the goodness of the stream.I had to take my mind off certain things. I thought of the scent cloaking. Back in 2021, it's not even a thing but I once read it in the library that some certain Lycans choose to mask their scent while going on any battle expedition to avoid encounters with rogues. The rustling of leaves immediately jolted my attention but the pre
I need to learn how to defend myself. The thought woke up with me the next morning as my life's situation came falling hard to my senses. If Mira is eventually going to be tried with a treason, I need to learn how to defend myself and flee as fast as I could. I sighted a rumpled note beside my bedside and I immediately reached for it. "8pm tonight. T." Who is T? I wondered, then for a split moment Mira memories flashed through and I realized Toren, a member of the bodyguards was her lover before the whole incidence. I groaned inwardly, no way I'm continuing a relationship I did not start but I must be careful not to let that show. If Toren was part of the Royal bodyguards, then there is a high chance he will know a few things about the incidence of the vampire and if there was anything they were plotting in the night. It's official three days to my 18th birthday and no way I'm avoiding that impending rejection. What do I do? Diana poked her head through the door and whispered
Gasps erupted through the hall. I froze, the pitcher clattering to the table. Kael's stormy gray eyes fiercely locked onto mine, and for a moment, time stopped. I saw no anger, only a flicker of curiosity, but Seraphine's high pitched voice cut through like a blade."Clumsy Omega!" Seraphine hissed and rose up with a venomous voice. "You dare disgrace the Alpha? What pathetic fool are you?"My throat tightened in fear, my Omega instincts urging me to bow, but my modern defiance flared. "I—it was an accident," I stammered, meeting Kael's gaze briefly.Kael raised a hand, silencing Seraphine. "Enough," he said, his voice low but commanding. "It’s only cloth afterall." His eyes lingered on me with a profound curiosity.Seraphine looked flushed and sat back. She was definitely not happy with the way Kael dismissed her.Rune's soft chuckle broke the tension. "A spirited Omega," he murmured, loud enough for the three of us including Seraphine to hear, his silver eyes glinting with amusem
I gradually woke up with a splinting headache as my throat was all dry and scratchy. A high-pitched, splintering sound echoed through my head like a sound in a tunnel as I struggled to open my eyes. What a bad nightmare. Did it happen? Or was I imagining all that? I opened my eyelids a bit and instead of my pink and scented bedsheets, my fingers trailed the torn helm of a cloth.Voices murmured nearby, rough and urgent, speaking in a strange dialect that felt both foreign and familiar."Where…?" I whispered, my voice hoarse. My hand flew to my neck, finding the pendant still there, warm against my skin, the crescent wolf image etched on it suddenly glowing faintly before dimming. Panic surged within me, was I dead? Or I'm just dreaming?Approaching footsteps with a sharp voice rudely cut through my haze."Get up, you filthy Omega! You'll be late for the feast preparations!" A very tall woman with braided hair and a stern scowl loomed over me. Her eyes was amber and they glowered fain
