LOGINCHAPTER 5
TAYLOR While I sank deep into my thoughts in bewilderment, Mr Rover was busy looking me over from head to toe and with a sigh of disapproval, he stood up from his chair and waved his forefinger at me to stand up too. I quickly did as he wanted and when he held my wrist without warning, I felt my body freeze because I never saw it coming. Mr Rover was holding me! His hand was on my wrist! And I was trying to get used to it. “Let's get you into something better before you meet my father” he said and with that, he pulled me along with him, not bothering to let me finish my breakfast. Fernandez led the way and opened the doors for us until we got inside the car; I got into the passenger seat while Mr Rover occupied the driver's seat and a deafening and awkward silence filled the car as he drove off until we arrived at a beauty shop. The place screamed of luxury and sophistication when we walked in and I looked around in awe while we waited for the manager. Then I heard the sound of heels coming toward us and when I turned to look, it was a woman. “Hello Mr Rover. So nice to see you again” a very cheerful looking woman, whom I could tell was the manager, greeted him after she approached us and I just stared at her. “Miss Blair? Is that you?” She asked in surprise when our eyes met and Mr Rover quickly stood in between us just as I was about to introduce myself. “Just get her something to wear, Mrs Lewis. We're meeting my father today and time is running out” he cut her off while I wondered who this Miss Blair could be and Mrs Lewis nodded in response before she pulled me away to get me dressed. Forty minutes later, I was dressed in a pair of dark green knitted skirt and top, my hair was styled into wavy lines with a fringe and my face was subtly made up. I looked exactly how a father would want to see his son's girlfriend… perfect. While I looked in the mirror, I couldn't stop smiling. I'd never looked so expensive before and the texture of the clothes against my skin felt so good too. I got curious to know what Mr Rover would do when he saw me. So I walked out to meet him in the waiting room but he gave no reaction when he saw me and I couldn't explain why but I felt very disappointed. It was like I wanted to impress him and hear him compliment me but at the same time, I hated that I felt that way. So we both left for his car and after getting in, the awkward silence returned but he didn't even seem bothered. He just drove off toward a hospital as our destination and that surprised me because I expected we would arrive at a mansion to meet his father. “Look here, Taylor. We met at a charity event and started to date after we realized we were into each other. Okay?” he said to me while we got into an elevator and I nodded as I clasped my hands together to calm my nerves. I couldn't believe I would have to tell a lie to his father about how we met when in truth, I was just his hostage. Someone whose legs he would sever if I tried to escape. My heart was thundering with anxiety by the time we walked out of the elevator and I'd begun to doubt if I could pull off the act of being his girlfriend the closer we got to the ward his father was. Then he stopped at a door and opened it and he held onto my wrist again before we both walked into the room to see an older man who looked just like him lying in the bed. “Hey dad, how are you doing?” He greeted him while we both stood at the foot of the bed and his father smiled at him before fixing his golden eyes on me. I could tell that Mr Rover got his blue eyes from his mum. “Who is the beautiful young lady? Why does she seem so familiar, Michael?” His father asked and right then, the door swung open again and I looked to see another man who looked just like Mr Rover too but a bit older walking in and when our eyes locked, he stopped in his tracks and looked me over with obvious shock in his eyes. He had the same look Mrs Lewis had from earlier when she saw me and I wondered if it was about this same Miss Blair again because it was weird that his father too said I looked familiar. “Excuse us Taylor. I'll come for you when I'm done” Mr Rover suddenly dismissed me and I whipped my head toward him in surprise because I hadn't even introduced myself to his father yet. “Taylor” he called my name again but this time, with a tone of warning and immediately, I rushed out of the room and closed the door behind me before taking a seat on the chair beside the room. I couldn't stop wondering… who was this mysterious Miss Blair? Why did Mrs Lewis call me that, why did Mr Rover's father say I looked familiar and why was the other man who looked like Mr Rover shocked to see me? Something was wrong and I was curious to know what it was. Ten minutes later, Mr Rover stormed out of the room. Then he walked toward me and took my hand again before he pulled me away and once we got into an elevator, he looked at me. “We're getting married today” he announced and his words pushed me into shock as I stared at him in absolute speechlessness. Was I stuck in a dream or did he just say that we were getting married?CHAPTER 103TAYLORI coughed once I regained consciousness and my chest hurt so bad I thought it would cave in. Then I opened my eyes and fear settled in the pit of my already burning chest once I realized I was tied up.My head hurt badly too and I could feel my dried up blood on my forehead thanks to Alissa who knocked me out with the extinguisher. Immediately I recalled what happened to me, the alarms in my head began to blare even more. I realized I was in immense danger and I couldn't help but wonder if Michael was coming to save me already. Was he even going to find me on time to be able to save me? Many thoughts ran through my head as I lay still on the floor while racking my brain to figure out what to do.Though chances of escaping seemed very bleak considering my hands and legs were tied.Another cough let itself out before I could stop it and in less than a minute, I heard footsteps coming closer. The doors before me were pulled open and standing before me was Alissa with
CHAPTER 102MICHAEL“Come on, Fernandez. We're leaving now” I ordered while exiting the house and he was right behind me as we rushed toward the garage where the car waited.I tossed the car key toward him and he caught it, entering the car through the driver's door while I joined him in the passenger's seat.“Take me to my father's place. Right now” I ordered and he nodded before taking off as fast as he could. We arrived in less than an hour and I didn't wait for Fernandez to get the door for me this time as I stormed inside and went toward the living room where my father sat.In silence, I took a seat before him as he held a glass of wine to drink and I didn't say a word. I just let the heavy silence hang between us.He paused when his eyes fell on my bandaged shoulder. Then he looked back up at me and once he read the room, he placed his glass of wine on the table beside him.“We only spoke to each other hours ago and now it's almost dawn. What happened to your shoulder and why t
CHAPTER 101MICHAEL I ended the call with Taylor and set the phone aside. Then I turned to Fernandez who had just started to roll the bandage he held around my shoulder. “How long is this going to take?” I asked him as sweat beads coated my forehead and dripped down the sides of my face.I was in pain but I'd experienced worse so I knew I would survive it. All I could think about was seeing Taylor and putting her mind to rest because I could hear how worried she was over the phone.“Just a moment boss. All that's left is the bandage and plaster. Then we can leave” Fernandez replied, his gaze fixed intently on my bruise and I groaned when he suddenly pulled at the bandage to tighten it around my shoulder. “Sorry boss. I'll be done in a second” he quickly apologized as I gritted my teeth against each other to condone the pain and I shook my head.“It's alright, Fernandez. Just fucking get it over with so we can leave” I groaned again and he nodded. “On it” he responded briefly and s
CHAPTER 100TAYLOR Alissa and I had just finished having dinner. Then we spent the rest of the time watching TV together and I had to admit, the show was a good one.Yet, I kept getting distracted with worried thoughts about Michael. He was meant to be back already. He told me he would come back to me and then we could talk… if he was ready. But instead, he was taking unusually too long and it was making me think about him. Making me hope nothing had happened to him like I suspected.I picked my phone up from beside me and dialed his number. It rang and rang and there was no response until it stopped ringing. That compounded my worry and my heart began to race as I wondered what could have happened to him.Alissa noticed the change in my demeanor and took her eyes off the screen to look at me while I stared at my phone as I breathed heavily. “You look pale, Taylor. What's wrong?” She asked me, placing a hand on my arm and I forcefully tore my gaze away from my phone to look at her.
CHAPTER 99MICHAEL Fernandez brought the car to a halt once I arrived at my father's mansion. Then he got the door for me and I stopped out of the car.Adjusting my suit, I took a good look at the building before me and I couldn't help but wonder what my father's decision about Carlos was going to be.“Wait here, Fernandez. I know this is going to be quick” I told him and he nodded his head.“Okay boss” he replied and with that, I walked into the house. He was seated by the wine bar and waiting for me while he had a glass of wine. So I sat beside him and he gestured for the man behind the bar to pour me a drink.“He shouldn't bother. I'm not in the mood for a drink” I dismissed the offer and he looked at me. “Then what are you in the mood for?” He asked me and I sighed.“I want to know what you discovered about Carlos's dealings during his honeymoon and how you intend to resolve the whole situation” I replied without batting an eye and he smiled.“You've always been the serious one”
CHAPTER 98 TAYLOR The entire journey back home was quiet and the tension hanging in the air was killing me. I had no idea what to say to Michael after his reaction back in the hotel and I had one burning question on my mind until we reached the penthouse and went to our separate rooms… Did I say something wrong? It felt like we were back to square one. Back to the way things were when we were both so distant to each other and lacked basic communication skills. All I wished for was him to tell what bothered him so much about Carlos's dealings but I guess I touched a soft spot with my words and now, he wouldn't even look at me. After dropping my luggage in the closet and having a quick shower, I wore a simple dress and grabbed a brush to comb through my hair but then I heard Michael open the door to his room and I wondered if he was leaving to see his dad already. Quickly, I rushed out of my room, hair brush in hand and true to my thoughts, he was about to leave without saying a
CHAPTER 18TAYLOR “Congratulations, Mr Rover. I never knew you got married” Mrs Lewis decided to walk in on us at that moment and I was quick to take a step back from Michael even though on the inside, I missed the touch of his fingers against my face.“Thank you, Mrs Lewis. It was a private weddi
CHAPTER 19 TAYLOR “Hello, dad” Michael began the pleasantries with his father while I and this Miss Blair just stared at each other. Then he turned to the other man I saw back at the hospital weeks ago and his face looked even more stern as they both looked at each other too. “Hello, Carlos” he g
CHAPTER 16TAYLOR“I'm sorry I messed your shirt up. I didn't mean to” I apologized while wringing my hands again and to my surprise, all he did was shake his head as he returned everything he used back into the first aid box. Then he locked it shut and looked up at me.“You don't have to be sorry
CHAPTER 20 TAYLOR I couldn't speak. I also couldn't move an inch or fight back because what if Michael ended up scolding me for retaliating back at Blair? I wanted to hit her so bad though. I wanted to make her pay for getting me all wet with juice but what if she also had a gun too? I couldn
