ROY’S POV.

We sat across from each other at the dining table. Laurel, Mr. Thorian, and Collin were all present, as we all focused on our foods.

“So, tell me. How long have you both been together?” Mr. Thorian asked, wiping his mouth with the napkin, his gaze fixed on me.

“Me?” I confirmed, unsure if I was the one he was referring to.

He nodded, taking a sip of his lemon juice, the light glinting off his glasses.

I turned to Laurel, whose eyes were wide with desperation. I fucking disliked her for how needy she was around me, a fact that only made this situation worse.

“We just became official about a month ago,” I lied, forcing a smile. She beamed back, nodding her head in agreement as if she believed every word.

Mr. Thorian gave us a satisfied smile before turning to Nayla. My heart raced, a nervous energy pulsing through me. Why was my heart beating so fast?
