Chapter 8

William and Nora sat at the dining table digging into their food, while Nora appeared calm. It was just all a facade, being under the scrutiny of his father was unnerving, those dark piercing eyes made her uncomfortable. It was just as if he could see right through her.

“She is not going to run away,” William said and his face forced a smile and nodded.

“She is beautiful to look at,” he said and William's eyes darkened.

“You’re looking at my wife that way?” He asked, his voice was deadly but his father looked unfazed, and he smiled widely.

“I wasn’t looking son, just a glance,” he said and William narrowed his eyes, from across the table, his mother watched with interest. Nora had come to like her, and as soon as they reached the porch, she rushed and hugged her, calling her daughter-in-law. She had insisted William should be nice to her and William rolled his eyes, he seemed to respect his mother a lot.
