Ethan watched with shock as Clara obediently signed the divorce papers, then quietly walked into the kitchen. He was too shocked and in total disbelief because he had lived with Clara for many years, and he could tell she was a stubborn lady who would always refuse to obey his commands.

But she actually listened to another man without complaint. She obeyed a loser, an ex-convict. The more he thought about this, the more he regretted all he had done for Clara—the number of times he had washed plates, cleaned the house, given her money, taken her on expensive dates, shopping. He regretted it all.

"Hey! Hey! She have signed the divorce. Take this loser out of my house. I don't want to ever see you both here again, or I am going to make sure you both go to hell," Greg threatened ferociously.

Ethan looked at him and didn't say a word. He felt like Greg was right—he was actually a loser. He couldn't even compare to a man who had gone to jail and had nothing to his name apart from the crimes

Hannah looked at him impatiently, her voice trembling with confusion. "What are you talking about? What did we do? Talk to me."Henson grasped her hands tightly, his eyes shining with excitement. "Maxwell is dead. He’s dead."Hannah’s eyes widened in disbelief, her brow furrowing. "You’re talking so fast."But Henson couldn’t contain his urgency. He grabbed his car keys and hurriedly said, "You need to confirm it quickly. I’m heading to see Evelyn."Without waiting for a reply, he turned and walked out swiftly. Hannah called after him, "Henson, hold on—"But he was already gone, the door closing behind him. He didn’t even wait for his driver; he jumped into his car and sped off down the street. On the way, traffic held him up, and his frustration grew. He grumbled under his breath, honking impatiently and cursing softly. Once the gridlock eased, he accelerated rapidly, his face dark with tension. He arrived at Evelyn’s apartment building, slamming his foot on the brake as the car jerk

Suddenly, Evelyn’s voice crackled from the phone’s speaker. “I was about to call you. I just left your office, and your secretary confirmed you're not inside.”Henson retorted coldly, “Come to the company’s car park. I’m waiting for you there.” Without waiting for a response, he ended the call. His eyebrows knitted in worry, a flicker of anxiety crossing his face. He was nervous about why Evelyn was suddenly looking for him—especially since they hadn’t made up, and their relationship had been strained lately. He sat in the driver’s seat, waiting anxiously, lost in thought, contemplating various possibilities. Soon, Evelyn appeared in his peripheral vision. He saw her approach through the windshield and waited patiently until she reached his car.“Get in,” he said softly.Evelyn opened the door and slid into the passenger seat. As she turned to face him, she broke the silence with her words. “Myself and your uncle are leaving for Scotland. I’m ready.”Henson’s eyes widened in surprise.

Maria beckoned Evelyn with open arms and softly said, "Come here."Evelyn walked over and fell into her embrace. Maria gently whispered, "It's normal to be nervous, but this is the right thing to do."She broke the hug and looked into Evelyn’s face, offering reassurance. "Don’t miss this opportunity to make things right, dear."Nodding silently, Evelyn picked up her handbag, stood up, and exited the room. She paused briefly at the doorway, then flagged down a taxi and hopped in. The driver sped off toward her destination. At the company, Evelyn paid the fare and entered the building. Standing before the elevator that would take her to the top floor—where the chairman’s office was—she fidgeted nervously. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the elevator. The elevator ascended smoothly, carrying her to the top floor. She stepped out and walked down the corridor toward the office door. Inside, Maxwell was not yet there.A few minutes later, Maxwell arrived. Evelyn immediately rose to h

Maxwell’s patience had worn thin. With a cold, clipped tone, he retorted, “Good night.” Without another word, he stepped back, slammed the door shut, and locked it behind him. The suddenness of his actions took Hannah by surprise; she stared at the closed door in disbelief, her eyes wide with shock. Her face creased with doubt as she muttered to herself, “Did Maxwell just shut the door in my face? He really did that?”She shook her head, unwilling to accept what had just happened. She was accustomed to Maxwell groveling at her feet, doing everything to please her — going to great lengths to win her favor. This cold treatment, however, ignited feelings of resentment and anger within her.Fuming, she slammed her fist against the door and demanded loudly, “Maxwell! Open the damn door! Open the fucking door! I want to talk to you!”No matter how persistently she knocked or how loudly she demanded, Maxwell remained silent inside. He didn’t respond or make any move to open the door. After a

She then visited the supermarket to pick up some groceries before catching another taxi back home.Once she arrived, she went straight into the kitchen to start preparing dinner. Her phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the screen — it was Henson calling. She hesitated for a moment, then ignored the call and continued cooking.Soon after, there was a knock at the door. Evelyn went over and opened it. Standing before her was Henson, looking dejected, his shirt unbuttoned, messy hair, and a faint smell of alcohol on him.He looked at her and spoke in a low voice, “I’ve been trying to call you.”She replied calmly, “I’ve been busy in the kitchen.” She didn’t invite him inside immediately, merely standing at the door, watching his face. Henson’s frustration grew.“Are you not going to let me in too?” he complained bitterly.Without hesitation, Evelyn stepped back, letting the door swing open, and
