Mag-log inLerisa finished having dinner with her parents in the dining room. None of her siblings were at home, so she stood up, locked the front door, and returned to her bedroom to sleep.
She went into her bedroom, picked up her phone, and saw that it was 10 p.m. Lerisa was surprised to see seven missed calls from Anthony and wasted no time calling him back to find out why he had called. The phone call connected, and Lerisa spoke first: “Hello, Anthony.” Anthony was still in his bedroom, preparing to sleep. He saw his phone ringing, picked it up, and saw that Lerisa was calling. He answered, “Hey, Lerisa. I was calling earlier to see if you got home safely and if you’re alright now.” “Yeah, I’m fine now. Thanks for checking on me,” Lerisa replied. She knew Anthony cared for her like an older brother, but he wasn’t her brother—she had an elder brother named James Jonah. Lerisa wished Anthony could see her beyond the sibling bond or their families’ closeness, because she loved him. Anthony said, “Okay then. Goodnight. I’ll still visit you tomorrow morning to check on you again.” “Okay,” Lerisa replied. She didn’t want to refuse Anthony’s visit to her family home. She agreed, knowing it wasn’t his first time visiting, especially since her mother liked him a lot. She said, “Goodnight too.” The call ended, and Lerisa stared at her phone screen in silence for a while. She had saved Anthony’s photos on her phone and even used one as her screen wallpaper. Lerisa smiled and kissed Anthony's photo on the screen, feeling her innocent heart flutter and thudding in her chest for Anthony. "If only he could hear my heart beating for him," Lerisa muttered. She plugged her phone in to charge, then went into her bathroom to relieve herself, before coming out and climbing on her pink bed to sleep. -------------- The following Saturday morning, after Anthony finished his early exercise and fitness training, he jogged for a while and ran as well. Anthony was a billionaire, but that didn’t stop him from exercising; since most of the wealthy residents in their town stayed active. Anthony was wearing a white sports jersey that morning—a white singlet top, white shorts, white socks, and white canvas shoes. He looked breathtakingly handsome, and plenty of young ladies along the way stole glances as they watched him jog in the early morning. Anthony’s family home was not far from Lerisa’s—only two streets away. He decided to visit Lerisa at her family mansion to see how she was doing, since he saw her as a younger sister and his best friend. Finally, Anthony approached Lerisa’s family gate and knocked on the huge black gate, waiting for someone to open it. The large black gate was locked from the inside, and Anthony didn’t have his phone with him to call Lerisa and let her know he was there. Anthony checked his wristwatch and saw it was after 8 a.m. The sun was rising gradually above the clouds. He knocked again before Lerisa, who was sweeping the front of her father’s compound, came to open the gate. Lerisa gasped, surprised to see Anthony standing there looking breathtakingly handsome and sweaty. Her breath caught at the sight of Anthony in a white singlet top that hugged his masculine abs. She wondered what those toned abs would feel like if she ever touched him. She gulped hard as her brown eyes looked up at Anthony’s handsome, dark face. Meeting his eyes, she greeted him shyly, “Good morning, sir.” Anthony smiled, happy to see Lerisa’s blushing face, as she often did around him. She was very light-skinned, and he liked seeing her pretty face. Anthony replied, “Good morning, Lerisa. How was your night?” He lifted the water bottle in his right hand to his lips. After twisting it open, he drank, water dripping from the side of his mouth. Lerisa swallowed again, watching Anthony drink. She looked downward as he pulled the bottle away and asked her, “I came to see you this morning. How are you feeling now?” “Lerisa! Who’s at the gate?” Lerisa heard her mother call from the front of the house. She glanced back into the compound toward her mother before replying, “Anthony is here, Mom.” Anthony walked closer to the gate, near Lerisa. He told her, “Move away from the gate; let me say hello to your parents first.” Lerisa wasn’t wearing a bra under her blue nightgown. She felt her body radiate heat from Anthony’s close proximity. She quickly stepped aside from the gate to let Anthony enter her parents’ compound, since he was standing very close in front of her. Anthony smiled at Lerisa, his eyes drifting down and lingering on her full brẹasts. He gulped and quickly looked away as his gaze fell on her hard, pointed nipples, already visible through the light fabric. Lerisa quickly stepped aside, and Anthony walked into the compound to greet her mother, who was smiling at him. Mrs. Antonia stepped outside from the front door as she saw Anthony approaching. She realised he was the man who had been speaking with Lerisa at the gate. Antonia smiled at Anthony and greeted him first: “Our CEO, good morning, sir.” Anthony smiled and replied, “Good morning, Ma. How are you doing this morning?” “I’m fine, and you? What a pleasant surprise to see you here! You hardly visit us since you took over as the new CEO. Did we do anything to offend you in any way?” Antonia inquired. Anthony smiled and replied, “No, Ma. Not at all.” Anthony offered a friendly smile, which relieved Antonia. She smiled back and said, “You’re welcome to our house anytime. Come inside; I’m about to prepare breakfast. You can join us.” “No, Ma. Thank you. I only came to see how Lerisa is doing—she looked so sad yesterday,” Anthony said, his eyes moving to where Lerisa stood. She walked up to them, smiling shyly and hiding her blushing face in her palms. “Lerisa? Oh, she came home looking sad yesterday, and I wondered what was wrong. I hope there’s no problem between you two at the office,” Antonia said. “No, Ma. I don’t have any problem with Lerisa, and I can see she’s fine now. I should be on my way home—that’s why I came to check on her,” Anthony replied politely, wanting to leave. “Okay then. Thank you for visiting and checking on my daughter. Your mother invited me to your birthday celebration tonight. I hope you invited my daughter as well,” Antonia said, smiling warmly, as she wanted Anthony as her son-in-law. Anthony smiled handsomely and replied, “Yes, Ma. I did.” “Okay then. We’ll see you later this evening. I should go inside now and finish preparing what I was going to fry for breakfast before you arrived. Goodbye, Anthony,” Antonia said, to which Anthony replied, “Okay, Ma.” Lerisa stood aside, listening to her mother’s conversation with Anthony. Her mother went back into the bungalow, leaving them alone.Anthony already knew Remy would be heartbroken, so he left and went back home to apologize to his parents, not wanting to add to Remy's agony.Remy already grasped the situation, and if Anthony hadn't been his cousin, he could have dealt with him for daring to come to his house and tell him directly that he had slept with his woman. After Anthony left, Remy went back into his house to nurse his broken heart.A month passed and after the trending news stopped, Remy went back to his business. The female staff didn't dare to gossip about the matter. except they risked losing their jobs.Lerisa knew she owed Remy an apology, and her mother had said that she wouldn't marry Anthony unless she tender an apology at Remy.Lerisa arrived at Remy's hotel with the car gift that he bought for her. She did not know his house, so she donned a red dress and made her way to Remy's office. When the female staff saw Lerisa, their murmuring and gossip resurfaced. Lerisa hadn't stepped out of her father's house since she started trending. She was ashamed and couldn't face Remy. She couldn't tell Remy why she had broken up with him.Hearing her mother's voice, Lerisa rushed out of the house as she heard her mother shouting at someone. However, as Lerisa walked out, she saw Anthony drenched, with water dripping down his body.Anthony wasn't annoyed. He didn't want to leave until he saw Lerisa."Mom! What have you done?" Lerisa shouted, shocked to see that her mother had actually baptized Anthony with a bucket of cold water. Mrs. Antonia hissed and went back into the house, not wanting to answer Lerisa's questions.Looking back at Anthony, Lerisa offered her apologies to him. She did not know that Remy had arrived earlier, but seeing Anthony wet, Lerisa offered to bring James's clothes for him to change into."See them, shameless people," Mrs. Antonia muttered from her kitchen window. She should have known that she could not change her daughter's d
Lerisa looked at her father sadly and said, "Dad, you cannot tell the Creed family that it's because of Anthony that you want to call off the wedding.""Then what should I tell them?" Mr. Fred asked. "You went to Anthony's house and ended up sleeping on his bed.""Dad, I don't want Anthony and Remy to quarrel because of me. They're brothers and...""You should have been aware that they were brothers and not comfortably slept with Anthony unclothed on his bed. I don't want to discuss this matter again. Mr. Joshua and his wife are equally disappointed, as they know this would cause a rift in their family, especially since Mrs. Samara is Mrs. Beatrice's only sister. Your actions have caused a lot of problems, but it will be settled. You can go." Mr. Fred dismissed Lerisa. He did not believe his wife at first, but after visiting the Gregson home, Mr. Joshua told him personally that his wife had been in tears, blaming Anthony as the cause."Why did Anthony not admit his feelings sooner? He
Remy already noticed that Lerisa wasn't sounding like her usual self. However, he couldn't pinpoint what was wrong with her. He donned a casual outfit, but he was still handsome and tall."Fine. If you say so, I will contact you tomorrow morning before going to work. Try to charge your phone, okay?" Remy said. As he looked at Lerisa's finger, where he had placed the engagement ring the previous day, he noticed that Lerisa had taken off the ring.He furrowed his brows and asked her, "Where's your engagement ring, Lerisa? Did you purposefully take it off? Where is it?"Remy suspected something fishy."I left it indoors," Lerisa tried to lie, but she wasn't good at lying as she spluttered."You left it indoors? Where? You know that you were not supposed to take this ring off. Fine, go inside and bring it, and you can wear it back. Right here in my presence," Remy insisted. He didn't know what was wrong with Lerisa. Just the previous night, he had called her, and she promised to call him b
Mrs. Antonia frowned and accompanied James to Lerisa's room. Lerisa had cried herself to sleep on her bed. She was hungry and weak, but she didn't want to meet with anyone. She had also switched off her phone."Lerisa!" With a gentle knock on her daughter's room door, Mrs. Antonia called Lerisa. "Lerisa, are you in there?" Mrs. Antonia asked again, and Lerisa, feeling hungry, woke up.Lerisa pulled the door of her room open. Her mother and James gasped as they spotted her."Since when did you return?" Mrs. Antonia was the first to ask Lerisa, who looked sad, as did James."Not too long ago. Maybe after you and Dad left for church," Lerisa replied in a sad tone."What happened? Why do you sound sad?" Mrs. Antonia inquired. Lerisa shook her head and said, "Nothing, Mom. I am hungry."As Lerisa walked out of the corridor, Mrs. Antonia saw the red marks all over Lerisa's neck. She inquired, "Wait, Lerisa. What happened to you? Who beat you?"Mrs. Antonia rushed to examine her daughter's ne
"Please, Lerisa, I am sorry," Anthony tried to apologize to Lerisa after his mother left his bedroom with a grimace.Lerisa started crying on the bed as she realized what she had just done with Anthony."What am I going to explain to Remy now? Remy loves me too," Lerisa cried, still sitting on Anthony's bed."You will tell Remy the truth, that you cannot go ahead and marry him," Anthony replied, as he wanted to touch Lerisa's arms again, not equally satisfied with the previous night's events with her. However, Lerisa pushed his hands away."No! It's easy for you to say, but I cannot do it. I cannot face Remy. I have to go home now." Lerisa stepped down from the bed, and Anthony admired her physique.Anthony got down from the bed, fully unclothed. Seeing him in that state, Lerisa remembered all that had happened between them the previous night; she wanted more but knew she had Remy to deal with and, more likely, her family too.Lerisa shook her head and wanted to search the room for her
As James brought out his phone to check the incoming messages, it was a message from Benita with Anthony's house address.Mrs. Beatrice was looking so impatient, so she asked James, "Is that Anthony's address?""Yes, ma," replied James, and he passed his phone. across to Anthony's mom."Please send the
"Good evening, Ma," James greeted Mrs. Beatrice as he saw her speaking to their gateman as soon as he walked out of the house."Good evening, my son. Is Lerisa at home?" Mrs. Antonia asked James. She had totally forgotten that it was Lerisa's engagement day. As she was speaking to James, that was the
"Oh my God! MOM! They're here," Lerisa was nervous as she knew the multiple cars arriving at her father's house were Remy and his uncles. "Yes. Calm down. Let me go and attend to them. Lerisa thought about why Anthony didn't show up at his company.
