Vivian’s pov

The air in the VIP lounge instantly turned to ice.

Damien Cross towered over Adrian, his broad shoulders casting a long shadow across the polished floor.

As the head of the Cross Conglomerate, the most formidable titan in international defense, shipping, and global logistics, Damien was a man whose name made world leaders tread carefully. He was not just rich; he was dangerous.

Adrian froze mid-stride, his hand hovering uselessly in the air just inches from where it had tried to grab my arm.

Slowly, Damien stepped forward, placing his tall frame entirely between Adrian and me. He reached down, took my hand in his, and raised it to his lips, pressing a warm, respectful kiss against my knuckles, his dark eyes never leaving Adrian’s pale, trembling face.

When Damien finally turned his gaze toward Adrian, his expression shifted into one of pure, unadulterated contempt.

"If you take one more step toward my fiancée, Lancaster," Damien said, his voice dropping to a low, lethal murmur that carried absolute authority, "I will personally liquidate every remaining subsidiary of your company. You won't just be broke, you will be erased from this city by noon tomorrow."

Adrian stared at him, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. "F...fiancée...?" he stammered, his eyes darting between Damien’s protective hand on my waist and the subtle curve of my pregnancy bump. "Damien Cross? You... you're the father?"

Damien didn't bother answering the pathetic question. He simply tightened his grip around my waist, keeping me steady and safe against his side.

Standing beside Damien, I felt a deep, overwhelming sense of security.

The world saw Damien Cross as a ruthless, untouchable kingmaker who bought and sold corporations for fun. But to me, he was something entirely different.

The world didn't know our secret. They didn't know that our story had started eight long years ago, long before I ever met Adrian Lancaster.

Back then, I was just a nineteen-year-old volunteer working with an international medical relief team in the northern border territories.

Then, one stormy night, an unmarked black vehicle had slammed into the emergency clinic gates.

Inside the car was Damien Cross, bleeding out from a devastating gunshot wound after a coordinated political assassination attempt.

He had a rare, highly specific blood type, and the clinic’s blood bank was completely empty.

Without hesitation, I sat in the chair beside his stretcher and donated three full units of my own blood to keep his heart pumping through emergency surgery.

I stayed by his bed for twelve hours, holding his freezing hand until the fever broke. When he finally opened his eyes, the very first thing he saw was my face.

He fell in love with me instantly.

I hadn't realized that he had been searching for me for years after he recovered.

But by the time his intelligence network finally tracked me down, I was already married to Adrian.

Damien was a man of honor. He saw how dedicated I was to my marriage, so he chose to stay in the shadows, guarding me from afar, never interfering with my life. He locked his feelings deep inside his heart, content to just watch me exist.

Until the night of my third anniversary.

The moment my grandfather’s helicopter lifted my daughter off the hospital roof five years ago, Damien had appeared at my bedside.

He had knelt beside my wheelchair, took my bruised, trembling hands in his, and placed his entire global empire, his intelligence networks, and his endless wealth directly at my disposal.

"You saved my life once, Vivian," he had whispered to me in that quiet hospital room five years ago. "Now, let me help you take yours back."

For five years, Damien had been the invisible shield behind every move I made.

He wasn't using me, and I wasn't using him. We were partners bound by blood, respect, and an unbreakable bond that Adrian Lancaster could never begin to comprehend.

Now, in the crowded VIP lounge of the tech summit, Adrian stood completely broken, struggling to process the reality unfolding before his eyes.

"This is impossible," Adrian muttered, his voice cracking as he looked at me. "Vivian... please. You loved me. We were married for three years! You can't just throw everything away for him! You're doing this to hurt me, aren't you?"

"Hurt you, Adrian?" I asked softly, stepping out from behind Damien just enough to look Adrian straight in the eyes. "You aren't important enough to hurt anymore."

He visibly swallowed my words. He truly believed that he was playing a master game of chess, sacrificing a wife he deemed worthless for the sake of an empire.

But I was going to let him see the horrific truth. I will beat him at his own game, I will not only buy the board pieces, but the very ground he was standing on.

I reached into my designer clutch and pulled out a sleek, thick brown leather folder. I didn't throw it at him. I simply held it out, letting him take it with shaking hands.

"What is this?" Adrian asked, his fingers trembling as he flipped open the heavy cover.

"That is your reality," I replied, my tone flat, calm, and utterly devoid of mercy.

Adrian’s eyes scanned the first document, and the little color left in his face completely drained away. His eyes widened in terror as he flipped through the pages.

Inside that red folder were our divorce papers.

Adrian turned the page, his breath catching in his throat as his eyes landed on the final page.

The folder slipped from Adrian’s numb fingers, hitting the carpet with a soft thud.

He stared at me as if he were seeing a ghost.

"You... you can't do this, Vivian. You can't make me divorce you." Adrian whispered, his voice barely audible over the chatter of the party behind him.

"You have exactly five hours until my lawyer comes to collect the divorce papers. Make sure it's signed by then." I said, holding back the smile that threatened to form across my face.

Damien leaned down, offering me his arm. I slid my hand smoothly around his elbow, turning my back on the man who had ruined my past, ready to walk into the brilliant future we were building together.

As we turned to walk toward the exit, the loud, sharp ringing of a cell phone shattered the heavy silence between us.

Adrian reached into his pocket with trembling hands and pulled out his phone. The screen flashed bright red with an urgent corporate alert. He answered it, putting it to his ear with a shaking hand.

Even from a few feet away, I could hear the panic in his v, screaming voice of his chief financial officer echoing through the speaker.

"Adrian! Where are you?! It's a disaster! Everything is gone, Come quickly!"

Adrian’s phone slipped from his fingers, clattering onto the floor beside the red folder.

He stood frozen in the middle of the room, completely alone.

I didn't look back. I adjusted my posture, held my head high, and walked out into the evening on the arm of the man who truly loved me.

VIVIANThe line hummed quietly against my ear for several seconds. Adrian did not answer immediately, and for a moment, I wondered if he had decided to ignore my call completely. Then I heard the sound of his breathing, followed by his voice.“What do you want?”The heavy silence between us lasted for several seconds.“Did you call to return my daughter to me?” Adrian asked. His question irritated me immediately.“You do not have a daughter with me,” I replied.A faint silence followed my words.“Is that so?”“Yes. Whatever you think you are entitled to, you should stop assuming that I have something that belongs to you.”I could hear the restraint in his voice when he responded. “Selling off your company debts was not enough to shake me off your tail, was it?”My fingers tightened around the phone.“So you admit you have been targeting Lancaster?”The question came calmly, but I knew exactly what he was doing. He wanted me to confirm something I had no intention of confirming.“You s

ADRIAN The silence in the boardroom settled my thoughts, and for the first time that morning, I felt completely in control. Every person around the long table had stopped speaking. No one moved unnecessarily, and no one seemed willing to meet my eyes for longer than a few seconds. The tension was obvious, but I found it calming. After everything that had happened, I needed them to understand that I was still the one making the decisions.A board member sitting at the far end of the table finally broke the silence.“Your actions are nothing short of treachery, Adrian. You have shown complete contempt for this board, and sooner or later, you will answer for it.”Several people shifted in their seats, but I kept my attention on him. His voice carried more confidence than the situation deserved, and I could already tell that he believed the rest of the board would support him.He was mistaken.“You seem very certain of yourself,” I said.“I am certain that what you are doing is unaccepta

AdrianFive names, two separate lists, and half a billion dollars sitting untouched in his account made everything from the past few hours feel unreal, as though someone had handed him a dream far too extravagant to actually be true.He knew better than to believe that, though. None of it had been a dream.Stepping out of the bustling airport terminal, he spotted his secretary rushing toward him with an expression that screamed disbelief before she had even said a single word."Are you completely out of your mind?" she demanded the moment she reached him.He let out a short chuckle, unable to hold it back despite the seriousness written across her face."This isn't funny, Adrian," she snapped, clearly not sharing his amusement. "The board is furious. Most of them are already on their way to Lancaster headquarters as we speak."He nodded calmly, seemingly unbothered by the warning, which only deepened her exasperation as she led him toward the waiting car."They might remove you as CEO

VivianSettling my daughter into bed took longer than usual that night, her small hands gripping the edge of her blanket as she fought against sleep despite how tired the day had clearly left her. I finally tucked the blanket around her shoulders and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead before slipping quietly out of the room.Damien stood near the doorway when I stepped out, his expression carrying a weariness that hadn't been there earlier in the evening."I think I found someone willing to tell us who Adrian met with tonight," he said, his voice low despite the empty hallway around us."You've been making calls this entire time?" I asked, surprised he had managed to work through everything while we were still at the park with our daughter."Since we left," he admitted.Guilt settled heavily in my chest as I processed his words. "This is because of me, isn't it? Because of what happened tonight.""You didn't do anything wrong," he said firmly, stepping closer and resting a hand gentl

AdrianRage simmered through every part of me, but it slowly gave way to something closer to helplessness the moment I replayed how the escort had addressed Vivian and Damien back at the gathering."What exactly is this organization?" I asked the man walking beside me, unable to hold the question back any longer. "And what rank do Vivian and her husband hold within it?"He said nothing, his silence stretching long enough that I felt a flicker of irritation rise in my chest. I could sense the quiet disdain radiating off him, though he never once looked in my direction to confirm it."You're not exactly in a position to be asking questions," he finally said, his tone flat and unbothered.I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to let the comment slide. If he wouldn't give me answers, perhaps Lord Darren would. The name rolled through my mind repeatedly, yet nothing surfaced. I had spent years building connections across industries, and the fact that this name meant absolutely nothing to me on

VivianNothing could have prepared me for the sight of Adrian standing there, not after everything I had learned about the three hundred society in the past few hours.Shattered glass scattered across the floor near his feet, and for a brief moment, I could have sworn the fractured pieces reflected a man who looked as broken as the glass itself."Is that my daughter?" he demanded, his voice rising just enough to draw a few curious glances from nearby guests.I ignored the question completely, refusing to give him the satisfaction of an answer. Damien stepped forward immediately, positioning himself between us with a firmness that left no room for argument."Back off, Adrian," Damien said, his tone low and controlled despite the tension radiating off him.I watched anger flash across Adrian's face, though he seemed to catch himself before it fully surfaced. A few people nearby had already turned to look at him with expressions of quiet disapproval, and I could tell the attention unsett
