I returned just in time for the first day of the hunting season. The pack already looked different and festive. I was glad to be home and also thoroughly exhausted.

As I headed to the front door, I turned and patted Antonio who had a similarly exhausted look.

"You have worked hard. You should go home early and catch some rest. I'll see you tonight at the hunting ceremony."

He nodded and bowed before turning around. Perhaps he thought running home was faster, so he shifted quickly and sprinted off.

I turned to my guards and gestured tiredly, "What happened while I was away? Anything special?"

I noticed the guards exchanged looks and were hesitant to speak. A loyal guard of mine stepped forward and opened the door as he nodded, "Yes alpha. Things happened. But you look worn out. They aren't that important. You should also catch some rest. Everyone is currently busy with the ceremony preparations."
