CHAPTER 11: MARIANNA ESCAPES

There hasn't been much difference lately, except the fact that I could feel my tummy getting bigger and bigger. Afterall he wasn't lying about me being pregnant.

He has been in the house for a while now, he barely goes to the house meetings and every time, I can hear him bark out orders to them. He treats them like they are all trash, even his own father, I assume.

He barely comes down to give me food, my entire body reeks of dirt and smell and bruises. Bruises of different sizes and shapes, I had gotten accustomed to the way he treats me. I only made sure to keep my tummy away from his view, that was my main priority.

I was biding my time carefully, anything worth doing, is worth doing well.

That was my solace, my comfort and the fact that I had Al's life in me was enough to give me all the strength and motivation that I needed.

As I laid in the dark, on the cold floor, my eyes caught an unusual sight. A thin beam of light, trying to force its way into the perpetual darkness
