Chapter 16: The Promise and a Surprise

"So?" I asked, looking into his eyes.

"I am not very big on apologies, and I know when one is needed. Yours is long overdue, and I know that some things between us need to be discussed on a level-headed basis," He said to me. He released my waist and spun me around, my back pressed against his chest. A few seconds later, he carefully spun me around to face him.

"Okay," I said, softly.

"I am sorry that I haven't been a good fiancé to you. Despite my actions and the things I said to you, I promise you that I will never lay a finger on you. Again. I won't threaten you or treat you poorly again. Though I kidnapped you, I would want you to stick around long enough to see that there is more to me than a man who feels entitled to another woman and treats them like his own possession. I don't want you to ever see yourself as a possession of mine. I will continue to show you that I respect you and try my best not to come off as controlling," He said.

"Anything else?" I ask
