“It’s an honest question and your answer will decide my course.”

“If I say graduate”—my eyes burned into his—“you’ll do everything in your power to stop it from happening, so how exactly do you want me to answer?”

He was gorgeous. Being this close to him was too hard. The memory of our kiss mingled with disgust in my brain. I had to remember that God gave Lucifer his name and it meant Shining One. That’s what Alessandro was. The bones of his face were molding into the man he would become. The angelic beauty, almost too much.

He owed my father a debt. I was the retribution.

“What do you want out of this year?” he repeated, not giving an inch.

What did it matter? I was screwed.
