But before stepping out, Nikolai stopped and turned to look at me, "I'll send him in now..."

Terror washed over me, raising the fine hairs on the back of my neck. I slowly stood up, my back pressed against the wall. I swallowed as my throat dried up, and my hands were shaking, my legs were trembling as I tried to breathe in and out.

I cowered and averted my gaze to the floor as the door swung open again, and Lorenzo entered. I could sense it was him; his scent was unmistakable. I didn't dare to look in his direction, Every fiber of my being was tense, fearing his presence in the room with me.

A paralyzing fear filled the air. I couldn't tear my gaze away from the floor until his polished shoes appeared in front of me, he was here, so close to me.

I felt like my legs would collapse underneath me and I die right here, right now.

A wave of fear surged through me as I felt his hand suddenly come to rest on the back of my neck, a frightened whimper escaped me as his grip tigh

I don't know why everyone expects someone to fall for their captor so easily. I love Lorenzo the most but Delilah was the one with a collar around her neck. Also, Delilah did think that his family won't abandon him if she left him. She didn't deliberately leave him to die. She felt guilty too.

You are so right. I love Lorenzo the most and feel bad for him but imagining myself in her place, I wouldn't easily accept I am in love with the one who kidnapped me and knowing he can kill people. It's a lot to take in. Any person would try to escape first.
