•Evangeline•╌─═❁═─╌"Your father is constantly ringing up your phone," Nikolai informed with a cold voice and even colder expression as he tossed Dimitri's phone over to him, Dimitri grabbed it just as it was about to hit the floor. He placed it against his ear and talked in Russian and all I got from it was “papa”. Dimitri then turned to me and smiled before he walked out of the pool area. On his way out, he slapped Nikolai's shoulder in a friendly manner. "Nikolai..." He turned to wall back out. "Go to your room, Evangeline..." I let out a loud groan of annoyance. "I'm not a goddamn child, Nikolai!" "Could've fooled me" he mumbled under his breath. "Excuse me?!" "We are going for dinner at my uncle's place tomorrow night. Be ready by eight" saying that he walked out. I immediately followed behind him. "Nikolai, what's wrong?!" "Why would you think anything's wrong?" he asked, walking towards his study. "Why are you avoiding me?" I asked, trying to keep up with his pace.
•Evangeline•╌─═❁═─╌Marco was waiting for me in the exact same spot he dropped me at this morning. I don't think he left. I said goodbye to Layla and settled in the backseat as the car's engine came to life. Marco kept glancing at me through the rearview mirror as if he was expecting me to talk incessantly like I used to do before. I wasn't feeling like it anymore. I used to feel happy and so damn lucky for everything Nikolai did for me before but now; with him behaving the way he is doing, everything feels wrong. I feel like I have married a complete stranger and we never knew each other and now here we are bound in a loveless marriage. Everything felt like a lie. "Evangeline, we're here" Marco announced. I looked to my side and saw the front door. I mumbled a quick thanks and stepped out of the car, heading inside. I went straight upstairs and changed into some comfortable clothes. I sat on the bed and pulled my books out of the bag and started studying. I wanted to busy myself
•Nikolai•╌═❁═╌The second her lips met mine, I fucking lost it. I have been holding myself back for days now. I didn't fucking touch her, I avoided even looking at her but when she touched me, I lost the little control I had. I grabbed the back of her head and pulled her over my lap. She straddled me, wrapping her arms around my neck. I breathed in her scent, fuck, I missed it. I felt like a traitor to my own family. This—kissing my wife—felt so wrong but so fucking right. Her body molded into mine perfectly like she was made for me; just for me. The car came to a halt, she pulled back looking into my eyes. Her eyes were heavy-lidded, and her swollen lips were parted as she breathed heavily. By the look on her face, I knew if I ripped apart her underwear and thrust my two fingers inside of her, I'd find her fucking wet as hell. She licked her lips and got off my lap, she opened the car door and stepped out; a little unsteady on her feet. I stepped out behind her and we walked in
•Evangeline•╌─═❁═─╌I lay in my bed, too sore, too tired to move. I replayed Nikolai's words again and again but I still couldn't make sense of them. He can't end our marriage this way. I wasn't ready to let Nikolai go. I wasn't... I love him way too much to just let this all go. What is wrong with him? There is something that he isn't telling me. I can feel it. It's not something I said, no, it's way too small of a matter for him to act this way. There must be something... something. My alarm went off and I got startled out of my thoughts, I frowned as I looked at the time. I didn't sleep a wink the whole night. After Nikolai left, I kept thinking about him, where I went wrong, where we went wrong, and what could have possibly happened for him to act this way. I lazily got out of bed, to get ready for college. I was naked already, I didn't bother to wear clothes again last night. I smelled like him, he was all over me, and every part of my body smelled like his expensive cologne
•Evangeline•╌─═❁═─╌—WEEK 1A week had passed by when he came to pick me up from college, and a week had passed by when I had last seen him. He dropped me off; went to the warehouse and he didn't come back. I tried calling him, I asked the soldiers around the house, I called Scott, Bianca, and everyone I could think of to ask about Nikolai but no one knew where he was. I know Scott was lying, he knew where Nikolai was, they are always together. He was lying because they didn't want me to know. Nikolai was doing it again, ignoring me without telling me anything, ignoring me without even a reason. It was not about our fight anymore. It was something else entirely. There was a reason only he knew. He kept talking in cryptic language and I'm not that smart to figure out what kind of mystery Nikolai is. I paced back and forth in the living room, I had called Bianca and asked her to come over. She recently met with Nikolai's father, maybe he knew something and he told her. Annoyed, I s
•Evangeline•╌─═❁═─╌I stared mindlessly at the giant metal gates. They were huge but you could see the road ahead from between its slits. I was sitting on the steps outside the front door where Lorenzo mostly patrolled. He stood behind me right now, I could hear him sigh every two seconds. "He is not coming, Mrs. Costello" My head snapped in his direction, my lips parted, and I got up and faced him. "Do you know where he is?" Lorenzo opened and closed his mouth before he shook his head. "Stop waiting for him, Mrs. Costello. He has no plan of getting back to you" I swallowed thickly. "Where is he?" "I'm not allowed to say..." "Where is he, Lorenzo" "My loyalties lie with Don Niko, Madam" "And I'm his wife, you should be loyal to me too!" "I'm loyal to you, I will protect you with my life but I don't take orders from you. I only take orders from your husband" I nodded, Lorenzo was one of his closest men, it's understandable that he will not do anything without Nikolai's order
•Evangeline•╌─═❁═─╌"I love you, Evangelina!" Bee shouted before wrapping her arm tightly around my neck. "HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" "Thank you, Bee, I love you more!" I said hugging her back as hard as I could, out of everyone she was the one I loved the most. We were standing in the middle of a mall, Marco had driven me here after Bianca invited me to shop with her, apparently, she was planning my “surprise” birthday party and I needed the perfect dress to go with the theme of the party. My only role was to go in and out of the dressing room, changing dresses. "Bee, you're killing me!" I groaned as she tightened the strings of the dress from behind. "You know what? This dress sucks! Take it off!" A few moments later, a lady entered in a black short dress, and stars formed in Bianca's eyes. "This is our one of a kind—" her words were still in her mouth when Bianca squealed and yanked the dress from her hands. "This is the one! Angie! This is the one!" she jumped up and down and
•Nikolai•╌═❁═╌I watched through the glass as Bianca and Lorenzo dragged her away like a rag doll, that's how fucking drunk she was. I gripped the glass tumbler filled with whiskey that was in my hands, the urge to knock some sense into her was so fucking strong but I couldn't do it.Disrespectful little brat—she had always been one. I can't fucking understand how the fuck am I letting her get away with this. She called me a coward, she called me a fucking coward! Even my enemies know that cowardice isn't in my dictionary but Mrs. Evangeline Costello thinks that I am one. If that's what she thinks about me then I'm gonna let her think that. It will be the perfect revenge for the disrespect she had shown me today, I won't listen to her pleading, and I won't listen to her temper tantrums as well. Ignorance—it will fucking drive her mad, perfect punishment for her brattiness. The little show she put on tonight was to get my attention. This stupid girl has no idea that she already has
