Se connecterHey Lovelies!
I know I must have said "updates begins regularly" not once, not twice in the little notes underneath the chapters, and still didn't keep to that promise. I'm honestly sorry for that. Skipping updates is definitely not intentional on my path. This month has been quite unsteady with the updates—for that, I sincerely apologize. I have a lot going on right now, like literally—I'm fighting for my mental health. Like I said in the disclaimer, I am a law student, so things get really rough and scary at some point. And this is one of those times. I'm trying to scale through this month as much as possible, and I really hope you can see my efforts... although it's only a chapter update here and there. Additionally, my exams are approaching and it's a really crazy time for me. So why am I saying this? I don't want you to feel like I have abandoned this book. I wouldn't dare... I would never. If anything, I aim to finish a book before starting another, and that's how it'll be with Luciano and Elizabeth's story. I just needed to assure you all that I haven't forgotten this story, neither have I forgotten you. I'll be back fully in the month of May (Yes, May... that's how serious my life is at this moment) It certainly doesn't mean there wouldn't be updates throughout April. There would be! But, I might not be regular. There might be little skips here and there, but I'll definitely drop something whenever I can. Love, please, I need you to stay with me throughout this journey as I can only walk through my crazy schedule if you're here with me, actively engaging when a chapter drops, supporting, voting and dropping a review. If you've read this far, please drop your thoughts in the REVIEW SECTION. Pleaseee. I miss you all so much and can't wait to be back to updating more chapters per day. I just really needed to explain myself and not leave you all hanging because you're the bane of my writing journey. Take care of yourselves, and don't get too upset with the unsteady updates. I promise it'll get better from the month of May. Meanwhile, you can binge read the first book in the series with this one, if you haven't read it. It's titled—THE MAFIA'S WILLING PREY. Please drop a review on the first book as well when you're done reading and if you have read it, please return back to drop a review too. Pretty pleaseeee🌺. Till we meet again in the next update... I love you all❤. XoXo, Betty_Kris.Chapter 172*~°*~°*~°*Elizabeth*~°*~°*~°*| 8 Months | 32-35 weeks Pregnant | Location: County Dublin, Ireland |“I am your mother.”Those words echo inside my head, refusing to settle into something my heart can understand. My fingers tighten around the blanket covering my legs. “No, that's impossible,” I whisper, my voice barely audible. “You can't be my Mama.”The strange woman who called herself Aliyah doesn't argue with immediately. She doesn't even try to force me to believe her.She just smiles through her tears, her hands resting on the edge of the bed as though she is trying to reach out for me again but afraid I might pull away.I might. Because I don't know her.“I know it's hard to believe,” she says calmly. “If I was in your place, I would not believe me either.”An unsettling silence rests in the room. I watch the men who walked in earlier look away from us, giving us the little privacy they can.My breathing turns heavier. “I don't understand any of this.”Aliyah nods
Chapter 171••~••°••~••Luciano••~••°••~••One of our soldiers approaches me cautiously. “The cops are here.”I nod, my legs moving already. The girls Damian kidnapped have to be removed from here and taken somewhere safe. It might take me a while but I'll get the proof of how the trafficking ring is run from him.At this moment, the cops are the only ones who can handle so many girls at once. It would be a good move on our part, because this would get them off our backs even if it's just for a little while.I follow the soldier outside, heading for the tunnels. I need to fucking get out of here. I need to get her out of my thoughts. As soon as I'm out, the helicopters circling overhead lets me know the feds are actually here. Emergency lights flashes across the island. Rescue personnels move quickly, gathering the kidnapped victims they could find and wrapping them up with blankets. They look frightened. Some are crying, while the rest just stare ahead, probably thinking about h
Chapter 170••~••°••~••Luciano••~••°••~••I know I should feel victorious. I finally have the Serpent's leader where I want him. For months, his name has been a ghost that has haunted every lead, every dead end. Now he is kneeling on the ground, wrists bound behind his back.I look at him only once. Now, I'm not sure catching him would be my main source of victory. He does not seem important anymore.Without wasting more time, I turn away and I dash back into the place where the chaos first started. The wedding venue looks nothing like the place we had just stormed into few minutes ago. The place is a catastrophe on it's own.“Elizabeth!” My voice echoes, over and over again.Despite that, I don't get any response. I mean, she was just here earlier. Where the fuck is she now?Not letting that dissuade me, I walk in deeper, searching every room, every corridor, still… nothing. She is nowhere to be found.Something makes my chest tighten that it physically hurts. “Fuck…” A hand run
Chapter 169*~°*~°*~°*Elizabeth*~°*~°*~°*Every harsh breath I release scrapes through my throat as I run.Gunfire explodes behind me, shaking the high pillars until it's all dust and smoke left. People are screaming, glass shatters. Somewhere amongst the chaos, someone yells orders in a language I can't even process anymore. The wedding has become a battlefield. I honestly didn't think he would come today. I thought he must have forgotten about me since he is married now. Turns out that is not the case anymore. He stopped me before I could say ‘I do’ to that monster.I don't look back. I just keep running. As my legs move as much as my belly bump lets me, I hear the sound of more helicopters descending. I have no idea what is going on. My wedding veil tangles around my legs, making every step slower than the last. With trembling hands, I rip it from my head and throw it on the floor, not caring where it lands. I have to get away from here.I have to save my baby who hasn't had a
Chapter 168••~••°••~••Luciano••~••°••~••{This scene is the continuation of Chapter 166}My heart pounds with anticipation as I push another door open, leading me to another scenery. I had imagined this moment a thousand different ways. None of them looks like this. Darkness like I have never felt before thrums inside me. They tried to take her away from me. Here I am, watching a wedding. My woman's wedding.White-hot rage engulfs my soul. The monster inside me bellows with fury. Every step towards the wedding venue feels like another knife being pushed into my chest. She should have been safe. She should have been beside me.Instead, she is right out there, dressed in white for another man. I clench my jaw until it hurt. No.Over my dead body. The enormous doors stand ahead, guarded by armed men dressed in black suits. I don't slow down, neither does the men beside me.As soon as the men see us, they try shooting. Gunfire erupts between us as I unsheath my knife and let out
Chapter 167••~••°••~••Luciano••~••°••~••{This scene takes place at the same time with the previous scene.}I sit at the front of the helicopter, my elbows resting on my knees, before I take my pistol off my lap, cleaning it for what has to be the fifth time in the last hour. Not because it needs cleaning— No. But because if I stop moving, If I stop having what to do with my hands, I'll start thinking. And if I start thinking, I'll remember her. I'll remember both the good and bad about her, and I didn't fucking want that.No one speaks. Not the Don. Not Marco, who is used to speaking all the time. Not Nicholas, and definitely not even Sergei. They all know better. I am not in the mood for words.Only blood. The headset crackles. “Three minutes.” The pilot’s voice barely registers. Now all I think about is the fact that we have just three minutes left.Three minutes until I reach the place that has stolen every peaceful night sleep I was supposed to have. I rarely sleep at night an
Chapter 52 ••~••°••~•• Luciano ••~••°••~•• “How did you get this scar?” A vulnerable look passes through her eyes, then replaced with something more concerning. I follow her gaze directly to the spot where she has her hand placed. I know what she's trying to do—she's changing the fucking topic
Chapter 48 *~°*~°*~°* Elizabeth *~°*~°*~°* A hand closes around my throat. Not rough at first, fingers digging just enough to warn me. An unfamiliar feeling crashes onto me, it dawns on me that I have no idea who this person is. Could it be the man from earlier? I gasp, clawing at the arm as I
Chapter 43*~°*~°*~°*Elizabeth*~°*~°*~°*“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.” I make the sign of the cross for good measure, and grip my rosary as a form of assurance. My eyes are still close when I feel a presence settle beside me. Way too close for comfort. My body stiffens. Yet, I don
