Arielle's POV

Hours passed as I sat idly in the office, waiting to hear from my boss. Luciano resumed work today after four days and I hadn't heard anything from him, not even his normal teasing or an order.

It was already past noon when a soft knock on the door echoed in the silence. The door opened after a moment, revealing Alessio. He came in, holding a file.

"Mr. Gabriel said you should enter this data. He needs it before the day is over," he said, handing the file to me.

Arielle's POV "Hey," I called out. "Shut up, bitch," the man snapped, already walking away. He didn't make it more than a few steps before Luciano grabbed his arm and yanked him back. "Get on your knees and apologize," Luciano growled. "You want me to apologize to a girl? On my knees." The man scoffed. "That's impossible, bro." Luciano's brows furrowed, his eyelids twitching just a little too much as his grip tightened around the man's arm. "You know what's possible?" Luciano said. "Me gouging out your intestines and feeding you with them." He had a way of exaggerating words, making people terrified of him. "This is none of your business, mister. You don't just show up playing saviour for a random woman," the man hissed. "Let go of my arm." Luciano held the arm tighter, his nails digging into the man's flesh. "I'd choose any random woman any day, anytime over a misogynist like you. And today, you didn't just mess with a random woman." He leaned closer. "You messed with. My

Gabriel's POV My hand was wrapped tightly around her wrist as we entered the club. Not gently. Possessively. I shouldn't have agreed to this. A club—of all places. I remembered when I condemned Noah taking her to one, and now here I was, doing the same thing. Well, I initiated the game. And I lost my opinion.I made sure to bring her to one of the most secure clubs in Italy. My men had swept the place few minutes before we arrived. Still, I hated it. We moved through the noise, people parting the moment they noticed me. The flashing neon lights. The bass thumping through the floor. The stench of cigarette smoke clinging to every corner. The crowd. None of it felt safe. Not for her.I led her straight to the VIP area overlooking the dance floor—a perfect vantage point, away from the noise below.I sat on the leather couch and pulled her down beside me, my arm locking around her waist. She didn't react. Didn't even say a word.We stayed like that in silence for a full minute. Then

Arielle's POV After packing everything I'd picked out, I paid with his card. His men arrived almost immediately, carrying the shopping bags out to the car. We stopped at a restaurant next, where we had lunch together. He ordered the same thing I ordered, barely touching his food while watching me eat instead. Every time I caught him staring, his expression was intense, unreadable. I always looked away first. I didn't know what to do with the way his eyes kept roaming over me. Especially after he saw me in that gown. After lunch, we drove out to a secluded estate. At the iron gates, a name was engraved into the metal: Russo Fiorentino. Luciano's hand wrapped around mine as he led me inside. It was a vineyard. Endless rows of vines stretched across the land, kissed by the fading lights and the warm hues of the setting sun. Evening was already settling in."This is my wine making firm," he said."You... you own this?""Yes. One of the things I run.""Wow."He took me to a gazebo ov

Arielle's POV I could barely stop smiling. I caught Luciano glancing down at me several times, the corners of his lips lifting ever so slightly, like he was proud of my reaction. After we had a good tour around the gallery, he gently guided me outside toward the waiting cars. We stopped at the one Nikolai had driven me in earlier.Luciano held the door open, and I slipped inside. A few seconds later, he got in beside me, filling my senses with his distinct overwhelming scent. As soon as he settled in, Nikolai started the car.Throughout the drive, I couldn't stop gushing about the art—the masterpieces, the paintings. I couldn't hide my enthusiasm. I talked and talked and talked. When I eventually paused to catch my breath, I found him staring at me, a faint smile curving his lips.He wasn't bored. He wasn't distracted. He was focused on me.I clamped my mouth shut immediately, suddenly embarrassed by how much I'd been talking. "I'm sorry. I talk too much.""Continue, cara," he sai

Arielle's POV "No. Change that. You look like you're about to attend a funeral."I groaned for what had to be the tenth time since Aunt Linnie invaded my room. She'd taken it upon herself to help me pick out an outfit after I casually mentioned that I would be spending the day with Luciano. I hadn't even asked for her help."Aunt Linnie, seriously?" I said, flicking through the hangers. "We've been at this for hours." I pulled out a dress. "This one is too flashy," I said, mimicking her tone before sliding it back. Another one followed. "This one is too long." I pulled another. "Not sexy enough." I dropped my shoulders in defeat. "I don't even know where he's taking me, so I just need something versatile. Elegant and casual. It's not like it's a date."She sighed. "Arielle. Versatile, yes. But you're going out with one of the richest men in Italy—possibly New York too." She tapped my cheek gently and moved toward my closet. "You have to look exquisite."I raised my hands. "Alright.

Gabriel's POV I dropped Arielle home without saying much. I only squeezed her hand before she stepped out of the car. After she left, I fixed my eyes on the highway—every emotion blurring and going back to where they belonged.Grief didn't disappear. It just knew when to be silent. Especially when Arielle wasn't around.By the time I drove into the estate, my expression was empty—the way it needed to be. Five unfamiliar vehicles were parked outside. I killed the engine and alighted the car.Three men emerged from the house at the same time my grandfather was wheeled onto the porch by Mario. Two of them were potbellied, their suits straining at the buttons. They were older men who had grown comfortable with power. The third was younger, well built, closer to my age.I rarely spoke to any of them. Whatever business they had never reached me directly. It went straight to nonno. They were the three dons of the other mafia clans under us, excluding Massimo's. He was the only rebel. The
