Lucy walked slowly up the narrow staircase to the VIP area, her fingers brushing the smooth railing as if it could steady her.

The hallway was dim, shadows stretching over the walls from the low golden lights. Her heels clicked softly against the polished wood, each step sounding too loud in the quiet space. She wasn’t sure why Barry had sent for her. That alone was enough to make her stomach twist.

At the top of the stairs, she paused, smoothing down her clothe with slightly shaky hands before making her way to the double doors that led to his office. She knocked once, lightly, then waited.

A deep voice came from inside.

“Come in.”

Her hand gripped the cool metal handle before she pushed the door open.

Barry was at his desk, leaning back slightly in his chair. His arms were stretched across the armrests, and his eyes were already locked on her as if he had been watching the door, waiting for her to appear. His stare was steady, sharp enough to make her forget for a moment how to bre

The club was alive tonight. The bass from the main floor rolled through the walls like thunder, the steady beat echoing in Barry’s chest the moment he stepped in. Neon lights flashed outside the tinted windows, painting the hallway in shifting shades of red and blue. His men, already lined up near the entrance of the private lounge, straightened as he walked past.“Don.” one of them greeted with a small nod.Barry didn’t waste words. A short hum left his throat, his sharp gaze sweeping over the group before he pushed the door to the lounge open. The thick smell of cigars and whiskey hung in the air. A low light glowed from the chandelier, dim enough to hide secrets but strong enough to catch every twitch, every movement.Dean was already there, sitting in the corner of the leather booth with a glass of scotch in hand. Dean lifted his glass slightly when Barry walked in. “You took your time.”Barry slid into the seat across from him, his movements smooth, calculated. “I was watching

UNKNOWN LOCATION The room smelled of smoke and sweat, the air heavy enough to make it hard to breathe. A single bulb swung from the ceiling, casting harsh light over a long wooden table stained with rings from beer bottles and darker spots that looked like old blood.A man in a sharp black suit sat at the head of the table, his fingers tapping lazily on the armrest of his chair. His cold eyes followed the trembling man in front of him.“What,” the boss said slowly, his voice deep and dangerous, “the fuck… did you just say to me?”The man standing before him shifted from foot to foot, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “W-we couldn’t finish the job, sir… The Mafia Don, he… he was there.”Before he could say more, a loud smack echoed in the room. The boss’s fist connected with his jaw, sending him stumbling to the side. Blood dripped from his split lip.“You useless piece of shit,” the boss growled, standing now, towering over him. “I gave you one job. One.”The man gasped, his voice shaky. “I’

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the large glass windows, casting a soft glow on the dining room table. Lucy walked in quietly, her bare feet making no sound against the marble floor. She still felt a little drained from yesterday’s chaos.Julia, sitting at the far end of the table with a cup of tea in hand, looked up and smiled. “Good morning, Lucy,” she said warmly. “I… I heard about what happened yesterday. I’m so sorry you had to go through that.”Lucy gave her a small smile, taking a seat. “Thanks… I’m still trying to process it.” She picked up a fork and began pushing her scrambled eggs around her plate.Julia reached across the table, her gold bracelets clinking softly. “I know it must have been scary. But you’re safe here. Barry will make sure of that.”Lucy nodded but didn’t say much. Safe was a strange word. She had felt anything but safe yesterday when the bullets were flying. Still, she appreciated Julia’s concern. They talked lightly for a few minutes, about th

Lucy lay in bed, tossing and turning. No matter how much she tried, she couldn’t block out the sound of gunshots from earlier. Her mind kept replaying it, Barry’s cold aim, the masked man falling, the screech of tires. She pulled the blanket up to her chin and shut her eyes tight, but sleep refused to come.A faint creak made her freeze. Heavy, steady footsteps echoed down the hallway. They were slow but firm, the kind that made the air feel heavy. She didn’t need to guess who it was, only one man in the house walked like that.Pushing the blanket aside, she slid out of bed and opened her door. Barry’s broad back came into view as he walked toward his room. The dim lights from the hallway lamps cast shadows along his tall frame.“Master” she called softly. He stopped and turned his head slightly, his dark eyes landing on her. His expression didn’t change. He stood there, waiting, his hand still on his bedroom door handle.Lucy’s fingers twisted in the hem of her nightshirt. “I… um… I

The driver’s hands tightened on the wheel, eyes fixed on the road ahead. The quiet hum of the engine filled the car as they sped toward the mansion.Lucy sat in the back seat, pressed against the corner like she could somehow melt into the leather and disappear. Her hands were clasped so tightly in her lap that her knuckles were white. Her heart still thudded in her ears, and her breathing came in quick, shallow bursts. She kept replaying the moment, seeing the masked man lean out of the other car, hearing the loud cracks of gunfire, and then Barry’s steady, merciless aim.Her voice felt stuck in her throat, so she said nothing. The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror. “Miss… we’re here,” he said gently.Lucy blinked, as if waking from a dream. She dragged her gaze away from the glass, realizing they had pulled into the familiar driveway. The mansion’s tall gates stood open, and the warm glow of the porch lights spilled across the gravel.“Oh… right,” she murmured, clea

The car purred quietly along the dark road, the streetlights casting quick flashes of light across Lucy’s face. She was leaning back against the seat, her arms crossed, still thinking about the strange conversation with Barry in his office.“Boss… a car is tailing us,” the driver said suddenly, his eyes locked on the rearview mirror.Lucy straightened in her seat, glancing behind them. She couldn’t see much in the darkness, but the faint glow of headlights was there. Close. Too close.Barry had already noticed. His gaze was sharp, fixed ahead like nothing could pull it away. He gave a short nod to the driver. “Go faster.”The driver pressed his foot down, and the hum of the engine deepened. Lucy felt the car pick up speed.Barry’s hand moved smoothly to his side, and before Lucy could even process what he was doing, he pulled out a gun from the waistband of his slacks. Her eyes widened. “You… you carry a gun?” she asked, her voice lower than usual.Barry didn’t even look at her. “Alwa
