Billie.

The next morning, fury simmered under my skin like a low boil that wouldn’t quit.

I channeled it into work. Laundry then breakfast. Coffee maker gurgled in the background, filling the kitchen with that rich scent. I moved on to making pancakes from scratch, bacon crisping in the pan, fresh orange juice squeezed by hand. Every flip of the spatula felt like a small act of control in a house that gave me none.

I carried everything out to the outdoor dining terrace. The morning sun po

Law. The Ferrari skidded hard onto the gravel as Silas wrestled it to a stop. Lake Mary’s calm surface was broken by a fading ring of bubbles where the car had punched through. I tore off my jacket in one motion, shoes kicked away, knife already open in my fist. I dove immediately kicking down hard, lungs burning from the sudden depth. Darkness everywhere except for the faint yellow glow below headlights still burning underwater. The car was nose-down in the silt, tail tilted up, water pressing the doors inward. Pressure was building fast. Five minutes at most before it dragged deeper and crushed whatever air pocket remained.I reached the passenger side first.Billie lay motionless behind cracked glass. Head lolled against the seat, eyes closed, mouth slack. No bubbles from her lips or any struggle. The seatbelt pinned her like a noose, jammed tight across her chest.I drove my fist into the window. Glass shattered inwa

Billie. I dropped the last bottle of bleach into the laundry basket. The handle dug into my palm, heavy with supplies. I glanced at my phone: 7:02 p.m. I had until 8:40 to be back at the estate. Plenty of time. “Temperatures dropping tonight, folks, dipping into the low forties. Bundle up, stay warm, but no rain in the forecast. Just don't jump in the lake haha.”The radio crackled from the speaker near the registers.I paid, thanked the cashier, and headed toward the exit, basket swinging against my hip. My phone buzzed in my pocket.Unknown number.I hesitated, then answered.“Hello?”“Billie? Oh my god, it’s Mills!”A familiar voice came through.Mills, my colleague from Judy’s Fast Food. We hadn’t spoken in a while. “Mills? Wow. It’s been forever.”“Too long! You okay?”She asked. I shifted the bags to my other arm. “Yeah. I’m… fine.”“So where are you?” She asked. “ Just in town.” I said. She was briefly whispering something. “ Like where exactly, I am wrapping up early so

Billie.I shifted, searching for an opening. Some fraction of a second where his guard might drop. My palms were slick with sweat. His stance was loose but perfect, eyes tracking every micro-movement. My mind raced, frantically. He’s strong and tough. But he’s still a man.. and every man has a weakness. I remembered the living room earlier. His gaze had lingered on the slip of my top for a second. An idea clicked. I took a slow deep breath, reached up and gathered the loose strands into a messy bun. The motion pulled the neckline of my sweater sideways, loosening the fabric. The soft wool slipped off one shoulder, sliding down to expose the smooth dip of my collarbone, the gentle line of my neck, the skin where shoulder met throat.I saw a subtle shift in his eyes.A flicker downward, away from my face, toward the newly bared skin. Just for a heartbeat. That was my opening.I stretched my arms out in front, fists up mimicking something I’d seen in movies. Then intentionally let m

Billie.I pushed the trolley through the connecting door at the far end of Molly’s room, and the bathroom opened before me like another world entirely. It was far bigger than the image in my mind had suggested. The ceiling soared high, dark marble walls veined with gold catching the recessed lighting in endless ripples. The bathtub dominated the center: a freestanding oval of pure white marble, so large it could have fit three people comfortably, polished to a glassy sheen. Gold fixtures gleamed of a faucet, showerhead, handheld wand all curved and elegant, like something pulled from a palace. The tub faced a wide window that stretched almost floor-to-ceiling, framed in heavy black drapes that were currently drawn back. Beyond the glass, the estate rolled out in manicured lawns fading into shadowed gardens, the horizon swallowed by deepening blue.Whoever sat in that tub would see everything as well as the reflection of their own body in the dark glass at night.I stood there a mom

Billie.I stood in front of the full-length mirror in my room, the burgundy dress already on.The fabric was heavier than my usual navy uniform, the color deep and warm like aged wine. It was only an inch shorter at the hem. The bodice hugged my chest exactly right, cradling the swell of my busty breasts like it had been measured for me alone. I turned slightly, watching the way the dress clung to my waist. The sheer black stockings Silas had given me climbed my legs like dark smoke. I tilted my head, studying my reflection.I looked… pretty. The burgundy brought out the warmth in my skin, made my eyes look bigger. I ran my hands down the sides, smoothing nonexistent wrinkles, and a small, surprised breath escaped me.I gathered my hair, twisted it high into a ponytail, securing it with a black ribbon from the dresser drawer. The length swung against my back as I moved. The trolley wheels rolled to a soft stop in front of Molly. The knob was glassy, flecked with tiny glints of g

Billie.I carried out the dinner containing seared steaks, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus glistening with butter and set them down one after another. Law had texted earlier on the new phone: Late at the office. Don’t wait.So it was just Leon and Silas tonight, the two of them seated under the string lights like kings at a silent court.I poured the red wine in crystal glasses and stepped back to the edge of the terrace, tray in hand, ready to disappear.Silas cut into his steak first. “I’ve been thinking about Molly,” he said. Leon’s fork paused mid-air. A faint curve touched his mouth, not quite a smile but close. “She’s greedy for it. She wants attention and care. ”Silas chuckled once. “She’s patient, though. I know we’ll give it when we’re ready. And when we do… we’ll take care of her right. The way she likes.”Leon leaned back, swirling his wine. “ Her impatience is growing, but she'll get the love she deserves.” I stood frozen, tray pressed to my chest, pretending to ad
