Pregnant?

I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in the sterile, bright surroundings. Was I in a hospital? Why? I tried to lift my head, but a dull ache throbbed through my temples, making me wince.

The beeping of machines nearby caught my attention, and I turned my head, trying to make sense of it all. The beeps seemed to come from…me?

Just as I was piecing things together, the door burst open, and my dad rushed in, looking frantic. His eyes scanned the room, locking onto me, and his face transformed from worry to relief instantly.

“Matt! Oh, thank God you're awake!” He strode over to my bedside, grabbing my hand in a tight grip. “How are you feeling? Do you know what happened?”

“I think…” I blinked, trying to clear the fog in my head. “I… I fainted, Dad.” The memory came flooding back — eating, feeling nauseous, running to the bathroom…and then, halfway to my room… “I fainted halfway to my room, didn't I?”

"Yes." He nodded, his eyes still worried. “You did, kiddo. Scared the life out of me.

  • Make Me Yours, Brother   The promise of forever

Dad left a few minutes later, after he got a phone call, or pretended to. I knew he was giving us space and was grateful for it. “Come, darling.” Jay linked our fingers and drew me towards the chair. He let go so he could bring one out for me to sit on.“Thank you.”“Anytime.”Smiling, he sat opposite me as the waiter entered with our food. The waiter discreetly placed the dishes before us, and Jay's eyes sparkled as he uncovered the plates, revealing our celebratory dinner. The aroma of perfectly cooked steak and roasted vegetables wafted up, making my stomach twinge with anticipation. But I was more interested in the man across from me than the food. Jay's smile could light up a room, and right now, it was all mine.I stared at the diamond on my fingers and grinned. When I told him about an engagement, I'd meant that as a joke. I didn't know he was seriously considering it, and it was for the best that it did. I couldn't be more grateful that I had been taken, and by the man I lov

  • Make Me Yours, Brother   I'm not letting go

I drove my car to the address, humming, my happiness, and excitement almost running over as a large quantity of water poured into a small cup.Eyes partially on the map, I drove down an unfamiliar street. I might have been in this town since my mother married Jay's Dad, but I had never been to this part of the city before. We hardly ate out, and whenever we did, the location was always close to our house or Dad's company. I almost got lost once and had to use the maps to get the location right. I couldn't call Dad. I wanted to show them I was grown and capable of finding my way around without their help. I had relied so damned heavily on them, and I believe it was time to do things differently. And I did it. I got the address right. When I arrived at the building complex, I parked my car in a space I found and looked around for the restaurant, which I realized was a rooftop restaurant with a breathtaking view of the city. It was difficult not to see it from the blinding lights and f

  • Make Me Yours, Brother   Disappointed

Jay introduced me to almost everyone, especially the omegas, who practically doted on me. They might have felt they had gotten a kin from their boss, whom they probably thought only had an alpha son before they met me. The only ones who knew the alpha had an omega son were the old workers. The new ones whom I hadn't met were practically glowing around me. Dad practically took it to the extreme when he arrived. He had gone straight to a breakfast meeting with a client before arriving for work, which was why we didn't meet him when we arrived. With his arrival, the doting increased. He almost carried me around. Almost because I stopped him. I knew we would be the talk of the office by tomorrow, as they will discuss the contrast between how he treats his sons. The omegas would see him in a new light and respect him for doting on me, while the alphas wouldn't be that thrilled. To them, alpha sons should be held in high esteem as they were the ones who will inherit their father's propert

  • Make Me Yours, Brother   Not used to his kindness

I chuckled, tucking some strands of my hair behind my ears. “You saw me?”“From the moment you followed my car. You didn't think I would notice your car trailing behind me, did you? Not only were you clumsy in your spy work, but your car's too obvious to be missed.”My face burned brighter, embarrassment and frustration swirling together. I looked away, trying to gather my thoughts. He was right. I hadn't exactly been subtle. “Why didn't you say anything?”"Why?" He grinned, reached out to touch my hair, but my frown made his hand freeze mid-touch. “Wouldn't be fun if I did. So, why did you follow me?” “I… You just —”“The truth, baby.”I sighed. “Fine. I wanted to know what you were up to. You've been…different lately.” I raised an eyebrow, my tone laden with accusation.“And you couldn't ask me that?”I rolled my eyes. “When you kept giving unrealistic excuses?”Jay frowned, leaning on the window. “You could have still asked me. Who knows, I might have given you the right answer. Y

I didn't know just chatting with someone would be this draining. By the time I drove home from the cafe after hearing Smart drone on about the man he believes liked him, I was ready to crash in bed. What I wouldn't give just to take back the time I wasted listening to him. When he had said, “Let's do this again some other time.” Immediately, I stood up and refused him. “I'm afraid I'm too busy with graduation to spare any more time with you, dear.”“But —”“I only got this chance to come out because I got a free day. I doubt Debra would give me another chance like this. Bye.”Let's not meet again, I added in my mind, waving at him with a smile. He didn't look that pleased at being refused, but I couldn't care less about that. When I got home, I dipped my feet into the bath, while sipping the chilled water I took from the fridge. Thankfully, Dad wasn't around to nag me for doing that. For two days now, that man has been on my neck about the food I consumed, which was why I wouldn't

  • Make Me Yours, Brother   Who brought me here?

“And you believe I'm the right one for that?” I picked up my coffee and took a sip, eyes locked with his. “Aren't there others who would love to be friends with you? The last I checked, we have no reason to be here, sitting across from each other, eating and chatting. I only got to know you through my brother, and now that you two aren't a thing anymore, I believe it's time for you to just let go.”I rubbed my finger on my eyebrows, feeling the irritation creeping in. “The circumstance we met each other doesn't define how our relationship should go.” He smiled. “We can be friends, even though I once dated your brother. From the time I met you, I had known we would be friends and —”“Said the man who almost shot me dead with his eyes then. Last I checked, you weren't that thrilled to meet me and when Jay asked me to sit in front instead of you, you felt like murdering me in cold blood.” I leaned back in my chair, fingers laced. “Just admit it. You're only seeking ways to get back with
